Well, from what Josh could see, a lot of body language was used. He could see that Xanul usually nuzzled that little sister of his, not something his father would ever do to him. Ugh. "Well, it's this guy named Xanul I met. He was kinda angsty about hurting his mom, or something." True, the Nobody wasn't like that now, but he had stuck to calling him Emo Boy. For fun.
...Just like how Wade called him Chucky.
He relaxed as she assured him she took no offense. Well, she wasn't as hot tempered as Yoko, that was for sure.
"Yup, I have." He grinned. "And yeah...I, well, used to attend a school that trains students to be space marshals. It's really cool sometimes when we get to see other planets and help aliens in distress." Not something he would freely admit to his father, that was for sure.

It would take a lot more to incite Aurum's temper. Threatening her family or loved ones... that would bring her temper flaring to the surface in an instant. The temper of her parents was not so far buried within her. She giggled slightly, a soft almost sad look in her eyes. "Cousin Xanul? Yes... he was very sad for hurting Aunt Ayako. I was just a kit then..."
However in light of stars Aurum could not remain sad for long. Besides, he had seemed happy when she saw him at the news of Ayako & Vynnessia's coming kits. That his parents were together. She had still been a teen then. His new siblings were hatched already. Gr-daddy Remus had met them though she had missed them, probably training or studying with her parents. "But we can talk about family later. Tell me about being a space marshal. Are the stars brighter up there? What's training in a school like? Or a spaceship? Oh it must be wonderful, up there amongst the stars."
Now both paws were together, just in front of his. Green eyes looked up into Josh's with a bright sparkle in them. There was little doubt -this female was star-crazy.

He nodded mutedly. True, the Nobody (he didn't exactly understand what he meant by that) was upset. Who wouldn't be really? But it was confusing, and Aurum was right. They could talk about it later.
"They are quite." Josh smiled. "We saw a comet once...but wait, no, it wasn't really a comet. It was a man-made one to capture comet-surfers because that guy wanted to win the competition." In the end, they had captured the alien, and he had won the third place. "Well, we have to study a lot. Then there's combat classes too." Combat was his favorite part. Studying irked him quite a lot, and he would usually ask Brett to do his homework for him.
"As for in a...well...spaceship, it's cool, I guess. Maneuvering the controls and all. It takes a lot of training to learn to fly them." He could see that she was awed by this...but then again who wouldn't? It was quite cool, being a space marshal, especially all those missions they went on.

"A comet?" Aurum breathed, listening avidly. She giggled softly at it being a man-made comet, wondering about a comet surfing competition and how it would work. Studying and combat... why that did not sound too different then what she did. "So school's not much different than my lessons... Is it much different to fight in space than on land? I'm not very good but I do try to keep up..."
The small female sighed while smiling. "It all sounds wonderful. What's your spaceship like? I wonder if I could make a model of one. Too many mechanical parts to actually make one. I wonder if I could fix one if found? Hard to say... I bet they're awfully complex with all those controls -are they?" All smiles, tails happily wagging. Not only did Aurum enjoy this conversation but from Josh's smile it seemed he did too which made the female even happier.

"School can be boring though. The homework is really...well, hard to do." Especially astro-physics. It got a lot on his nerves, and plus the fact he didn't like homework. Josh mostly fooled around on his motorbike and at the arcade.
"Not really. We usually fight on planets, which have gravity. So we don't really float around and fight."
"Uhhh..." The teen scrunched up his face to think. Sure, he could remember how it looked like really clearly, but he wasn't exactly sure how to describe it. "Well, there are two rockets, each at the side, and one at the back. It looks kinda like a helicopter without a propeller on top." If only Brett was here, he would have described it in much more detail. "I don't think I could find the proper parts to make one though. Not sure about the fixing part. We did modify one once, but then again I had the kid's help."

"Really? I love learning." Just a random truthful comment, the alchemist witch hardly realizing she said it so focussed was she on what the male was saying. Of course alchemy and magic were probably much more exciting than astrophysics.
Golden swirls crinkled on her face as Aurum tried to visualize the spaceship described. "I'm not sure I could even make a model from that description... certainly not anything working but..." With a look of concentration the female put a pawful of dirt in the center of the transmutation circle she had scratched into the ground earlier. Tossing her long braid over her shoulder Aurum clapped her paws and set them into place. Light circled and flashed within the circle, spiraling the earth components faster and faster like a small twister in the center. Another flash and the lights and winds were gone. A small earthenware model sat in the center of the circle where the dirt pile had been. Aurum tilted her head at it uncertainly. Then looked at Josh as if asking if this looked anything like what he was attempting to describe. It looked like her reference for a helicopter was Harold, from Trelweny's son Theron's Thomas the Train & friends but without the eyes and smile. The propeller on top was gone but the stem remained. The 'rockets' looked something more like firecrackers or toy rockets -what Aurum thought of first- but there were two on each side and one aiming up on the back attached to the helicopter's tail in front of the tail propeller. Her pretty face frowned, thinking it looked ... well not right. Her face grew sad and Aurum sighed. "Maybe if I could see a picture of one... hm? what kid?"
Green eyes blinked curiously. Of course it did not even dawn on her how her little display of alchemy might have been taken.

The problem with Josh about not paying attention in class was that he simply didn't want to. He just wanted to play.
"I can't exactly describe it well." He frowned, the visual image clear in his head. He watched curiously as she put dirt into a...sort of drawing that she made and then...
Woah. His mouth dropped open. He wasn't exactly used to the fact that magic existed, not when he came from a world that mostly dealt with science. He sat down, looking quite dazed and peered at the little model, pointing to the stem with a gloved paw. "It doesn't have the stem, and well, yeah. " He sighed, using the other to scratch the back of his head sheepishly.
"Brett. He's a 10 year old genius and my teammate." And friend as well...even though Josh constantly teased the kid about his height. "He could probably draw a very detailed sketch of it."

She grinned sheepishly, catching Josh's dazed expression and feeling a little guilty for surprising him like that. Really... she should remember not everyone was as comfortable with Alchemy and Magic as her family was. It was easy to forget, with so large a horde. But Alchemy as magic? Aurum would have giggled, knowing how that upset her daddy. Edward insisted Alchemy was a science. She believed it was a science too, but Aurum seldom got upset over other's misunderstandings on something they most likely did not understand. Hence why it was a misunderstanding. "Alchemy." She explained simply then nodded as the space marshal pointed, crossed her paws one over the other to where a flash like lightening crackled between her paws and the transmutation circle and basically diverted the components that made the stem elsewhere.
So.... that was a spaceship?
Aurum smiled shyly at the male, pushing her bangs behind her ear just so they would slide forward again a moment later. Then she blinked. "Ten years? I... guess that's not a long time in 'befores'? I mean... well I know Daddy talks about being in his teens when he was traveling with Uncle Al and that he was considered a prodigy passing the state Alchemy exam at twelve... and gr-daddy... well I heard he was in his thirties! But... well it seems like such a very long time..." The white and gold female ducked her head, pulling red wings around her petite form.

To Josh, he wouldn't really see alchemy as science. It did involve the making of stuff from another with a clap of one's hands...and to him, that seemed to be magic. It wasn't exactly his fault for thinking so. "Alchemy huh?" He muttered. Weird. This planet, or world, was weird indeed.
He stared at the figure, sighing. "I'm not really good at explaining stuff." Not a study person, but if you asked him about weapons, well, Josh would talk animatedly about his laser daggers and photon device. They did save him and his teammates on many occasions, after all. He was too used to how spaceships (or hornets) were, to ever think that one might need a description on what they were like.
"Not really. Ten to twelve are like older kids, I guess. I'm...probably was...sixteen, which is counted as a teen. And thirties is about how old an adult is." A long time huh? They must grow up pretty fast here. Emo Boy had mentioned something like that before. First eggs, now fast forward growings?
There definetely was a lot to get used to.

No... it was not his fault, and Aurum was too sweet to ever accuse him of something like that. Though she might argue a bit of components and measuring before going into her own personal opinions of how Alchemy & Potions were alike because of the exactness required when measuring ingredients... and totally bore the non-scholar in the process.
It was a good thing she was not diverted onto that track.
Green eyes turned to gaze up at the older male with a look of awe and respect. "Wow. Sixteen really? Oh wow. You must know so much. Imagine... sixteen years to learn and experience..." There was a hush to her voice. "oh wow." Aurum suddenly blushed furiously. "Oh I'm sorry. I should know... I guess I forget? For me... well four seems so old. But then, Trel's little boy is not quite four, and that makes him older than gr-daddy by a year but he's still a kit. Well... young kid I guess? By human standards? Humans seem to mature so slow..." Pale fur was still showing her blush as Aurum tipped her head curiously at the male. "Do you think of yourself as a teen then or an adult? I mean... well I know I'm full grown, so I'm basically an adult, but well... there's some times I just feel so... juvenile still. I guess. Like there's still growing up I need to do. I guess I'm wondering... do you feel that way too, Josh?"
Honest curiosity. Why wouldn't she ask something like that? Golden tails brushed the ground around her paws, now sitting back against the rest of her body once more. "and I'm sure you can explain things just fine. Maybe just not spaceships." The girl gave him a warm & reassuring smile.

"Well, in human standards, it isn't much." The kitsusagi grinned rather sheepishly. "And it's alright." He assured her. "Different worlds...are well, different." And took a lot of getting used to. He was having that experience now. "Four is well, about a toddler then. Quite young." There was a human boy here? The fact took a while to register and he looked slightly startled. Now this was...weird. "I don't know." Josh frowned, black tails flicking. "I mean, I still think of myself as a teen. Even though I'm in an adult body. I guess we feel the same then." It had been a shock when Deadpool had said he was now an adult, and could drink if he wanted. He had declined, but had to adjust to the fact he was...counted as an adult now.
"Yeah. I'm just too used to it, I guess." He returned her smile.

Her smile sparkled. This... was kind of nice. Really nice, just chatting like this. And she had been so afraid of this 'date' thing. Josh was sweet and nice and had flown in spaceships among the stars. And... well it was really nice knowing someone else felt that way about growing up too. It was not something she felt comfortable talking to her siblings about. William and Morgan in particular got really upset about their size and, well, Aurum was kind of worried they would take any questions she asked about growing up as size issues. She really did not get that at all. Mommy and Daddy were small. They were small. What was the problem with that? They were still bigger than bobtails and seraphim.
Well... barely.
Red wings fluttered lightly, the female relaxing a bit. Her smile remaining warm Aurum reached back and adjusted her wand holster. "Is it okay to be happy to hear that?" Green eyes twinkled softly. Then she giggled softly. "I think Daddy still thinks of himself as a teen sometimes too. Just not a kitsu teen. He & Mommy... they're just so cute together." It wasn't every offspring that would say that about their parents. The alchemist witch smiled up at her 'date' with an expression both warm and tender. Those thoughts of hers were always turning.
"It must be hard, being suddenly away from everyone and everything you know." Aurum said gently, sympathy in her voice. "I know others show up from 'befores' all the time, finding themselves as kitsu or something else." She referred to the other creatures that shared her home -but really her house was outside of the kitsu realms so that could be quite confusing to others. As it was, Aurum did not know she had confused Josh with bringing up Trelweny & her son. Right now, she was growing slowly sad with thoughts. "I... can't imagine, suddenly being gone from Daddy and Mommy and Will & Vic & Morgan & gr-daddy &... well everyone! Oh I'm sorry!" There was moisture in her green eyes as she reached a gloved paw out to touch his. "I just never thought about it that way. How lonely it must be. Please... forgive me." Aurum was smiling though she looked a little close to tears. "Here I am just enjoying your company with hardly a thought of the depth of how hard & awkward this might be for you."

Well, Josh thought Aurum was a nice girl too, which made him not really mad at Wade for setting this up. ...For a bit. It didn't mean he wouldn't want to maul the mercenary for setting a blind date up without his permission. It was a relief that the girl he was on a "date" with wasn't those clingy flirty types.
"Yeah, I think I know how your dad feels. A human teen is kinda...different from a kitsu teen." Even in an adult body, you could afford to be a little immature...but in the real human world, well. Let's just say you had to be responsible for a lot of things. And responsibility wasn't exactly his strong point.
"It's...kinda weird. I'm a bit relieved there isn't any school, but...I miss them." He didn't need to explain; them meant his friends, and yes, the teachers and his father. He yelped as she looked as though she was about to cry and patted her gently. "Eh, look, don't cry." Great. Oh great. He had to bring up this topic, and make a girl cry of all things.

Responsibility. Her father had told her a lot of the responsibility he had taken or had someone else place on his shoulders that he had to bear even in increments since gr-mommy Trisha had died 'before'. All that... and even now her daddy could still be like a big kit. Well... he was big to Aurum at any rate.
Sheepishly, Aurum wiped a white glove beneath her eyes. "It... it's okay. Really. oh dear. I usually don't cry..." Well except for when she felt she disappointed her parents -like when she & Morgan had gotten in trouble for going to see Endless when they were kits without permission. "I just... never thought about that before. What it might feel like to be torn away from everyone you loved and cared about... then to think everyone who came from a 'before' has had that happen to them... that you had that happen to you... well... I guess I realized how strong you must be. To be in a strange body in a strange world with strangers." She did laugh and smile sheepishly up at him then. Yes... she had been near tears for the ache at the thought of loosing her family, Endless... everyone she lived with and kin extended beyond those doors. At the same time those tears that threatened were for Josh, and realizing what he was pulled away from.
"So. Right. No crying." Her smile was still a bit shaky but the tears that still moistened her eyes did not look like they would fall any more. "We could talk more about spaceships and stars or something else entirely." Aurum had no idea how long dates were supposed to last, but truthfully she kind of hoped it was not near over yet. She was enjoying herself & felt she had barely scratched the surface of making a new friend. "I wonder if we could find someone who could build one and a book on the subject if they would. I think it'd be just terrific to fly in space. So close to the stars."

He frowned. She usually didn't cry? That made him feel even worse. Great move, Josh. Really great. Though it was a rather upsetting topic. "It is a bit...strange." He admitted. "And...I do miss them." He muttered grudgingly. He even missed Galaxy High, but he would admit that fact to no one. Not even if Brett arrived here and bugged him about it. The thing was, Josh wasn't so upset because he was determined there had to be a way to get back. But now seeing her sad made his hopes plummet, a sinking feeling in his stomach.
"If you cry, Wade might kill me. One way or another." Blue eyes darted around to make sure Deadpool wasn't overhearing their conversation and dropped down and started blabbing like usual. "I'm not sure. I don't think I can build one...but if Brett is here...well, he might be able to help. He is the genius after all."
