Alex somehow felt another heat signature to himself. For some reason, he decided to trust this hunter's instinct. Opening his wings, he dulged into Goliath's mind, and taught himself how to fly. Alsio, while he was digging into the memories, he learned that gargoyles have advances senses, and even able to sense similar heat signatures from hundreds of miles away. "These creatures are amazing! It's a mystery on how they all just dissapeared, though.." He sad to himself.

Aneisa brushed her hand across Saraphina's face. In her mind's eye, Aneisa saw the castle, then it felt like she was walking through the halls and rooms. She came to a door that she remembered had been locked when she had been there earlier that day. But for some reason, she felt like she had to go there. "What is it, Saraphina? What's there?" There was no reply, but the pull became stronger. "Fine. I don't know why you want me to go there, or what you'll expect me to do when I get there, but I'll go. Though I don't know why."

Spreading her wings, she tried to take off like a bird, but with no success. She swore she could hear deep, gentle laughter coming from somewhere behind her. "Right. Gargoyles can't truly fly, can you.... we? Only glide." Looking around, she saw all the tall trees, then looked down at the claws and the idea came to her. Climbing up the tallest tree she could find and reaching the top, she jumped off into the air, spreading her wings once more and praying. Success. making a couple loops to gain altitude, she set course and headed for the castle.

Reaching the front of the castle, Aneisa found that the door was locked. "Darn. Alright, Saraphina. You're so smart, you tell me how I'm supposed to get into a castle when the doors are locked?"

In her mind, she saw the wall of the back of the castle, then she felt a tingling in her hands and feet. "What? I don't get it. What am I supposed to do?" She saw a memory that she could only assume was Saraphina's. In it, she was watching a bunch of other gargoyles climbing up a rock wall and she was following them. Looking down at her clawed hands and feet, it clicked. "Oh, I get it! Alright, you just tell me where to climb."

Aneisa walked along the wall until she felt something pulling her upward. Looking up the wall, she saw a window. "That's it, huh? Alright, Saraphina. I'm trusting you, though I don't know why. I don't even know who you are." At that, memories started flashing one on top of the other till Aneisa's head started swimming. "Alright, alright. I get the idea. Stop the flashbacks and I'll start climbing, deal?"

As soon as the words left her mouth, the memories stopped. "Whew. That's better. Well, here goes nothing." Walking up to the wall, Aneisa took a deep breath, then as hard as she could, she jammed her claws into the wall. Much easier than she had thought they would, Aneisa's claws sunk into the stone solidly. Gaining some confidence, she dug in her other hand and her foot and began climbing. In no time, she had reached the window.

When she tried pulling it open, though..... "Drats! They have to lock everything up, don't they? Who the hell did they figure was going to get in through this window, anyway?" Looking through, Aneisa examined the lock. "Huh, pretty simple. Just an old fashioned hook and loop. Hummm, if I could just slip something in between the two windows...." Letting go of the wall with one hand, she began feeling around in her pockets. In her back pants pocket, she felt something promising: it felt thin yet sturdy enough to lift the latch. Pulling it out, she examined it. "My hotel key card. Perfect. So, I just take it and slip it in.... then lift up..... and Whala! We're in."

Pulling the windows open, Aneisa climbed through the opening. "Alright, Saraphina. I'm in the room you wanted me. Now what am I looking for? Or what am I supposed to do?"

'Grimoire,' Aneisa heard.

"Grimoire, huh? Isn't that a ...... magic book?" Aneisa looked around. There were hundreds of books in this room, most of them ancient. "Great, Saraphina. You had to pick a common and numerous object, didn't you. Wait a minute, what's that?" On the far side of the room, Aneisa saw a book inside a glass case on a pedestal. Walking over to it, she looked down at it. She felt a flash of excitement she wasn't entirely sure came from herself. "That's it, huh? Doesn't look that impressive to me.....OUCH!! Alright, I'm sorry." Aneisa rubbed her head as a flash of bright pain shot through it.

"Now, how am I going to get it out of there? I mean, I guess I could break the glass, but then they'd notice it was missing in the morning...." Walking over to the desk on the side of the room, Aneisa began opening drawers. In almost the last drawer, she found what she was looking for. "A-ha! Keys. I'll bet one of these fits that lock." Testing her hypothesis, it took a couple keys, but eventually... "And there we have it. Now, we remove book A and replace it with...." she looked around at all the books on the shelfs, trying to find one that resembled the book in her hands. Finding one, she smiled and grabbed it. "Replace it with book B. This way, we'll hopefully have a couple of days minimum before they notice the book missing."

Settling the substitute in the case, locking it and returning the keys to the drawer, Aneisa pulled a length of thread from her already tattered clothes, then looped it around the hook of the window latch. Holding the book in one hand and the thread in the other, Aaneisa climbed out the window, closed them and used the thread to pull the latch closed. "There. Now no one will be the wiser. I think it'd be best to go back to the hotel now." Jumping off the wall, using her legs to push off, she opened her wings and circled the castle a few times, being sure she was high enough to go unnoticed before she headed back into town.

Reaching the hotel, Aneisa went into her room, sat down on the bed and set the book on her lap. "Alright, Saraphina. Why did you want me to take this book?"

'Read it,' was the only reply she got.

Aneisa growled. "Why can't you ever give me a straight answer, Saraphina?" But knowing she wouldn't get anything more, Aneisa did as she was instructed and began reading. It was a bit confusing. She knew she had never even seen the language that this book was written in, but for some reason, she knew exactly what everything said.

She could tell that whatever she was reading, Saraphina was seeing as well, because every once in a while, the gargoyless would make a comment on something in the book.

It was nearly morning and Aneisa's eyes were so soar and tired she could barely see much less read. "Ahhhhh! This is usless, Saraphina! I mean, it's an interesting old magic book, but I don't have a clue what I'm supposed to be looking for, so how am I supposed to know when I find..." But then she came across something that caught her attention. "Find it. Hey, what's this?" She read out loud. "Domni Otis Dum Castilum Super Newbis Askin Danc . Could this be what we've been looking for, Saraphina?"

'Yes, child. This is it. It is the spell that imprisoned my kind over 1000 years ago.'

"Wow. But.... Well, what happened? What wizard did you guys tick off for him to do that to you?"

'I don't know. It wasn't my clan that the curse originated from. The writing in this Grimoire is written in Scottish. Ancient Scottish from you perspective.'

"So, are there.. or was there a clan in Scotland?"

'Yes. There was one at a place called Castle Wyvern. I think we may have to go there to find out the entire truth.'

"Alright. But what are we trying to accomplish with all this?" Aneisa noticed that the first rays of the sun were just beginning to peak over the distant horizon.

'All will be revealed in time, dear child. But dawn approaches. For now, I must rest. You must go to Wyvern. Only there can we hope to discover the true meaning to all of this.'

"I hope you know what you're doing, Saraphina. This all seems insane to AHHHHHH!!!!" The end of Aneisa's complaint was cut off as the sun poked above the horizon and pain like she had felt at sunset ripped through her body.

When it finally subsided, Aneisa found that she was once again back to her normal human self. When she tried, she found she still could remember some of Saraphina's memories, but not nearly as clear as they had been.

After a shower and a short nap, Aneisa grabbed out her laptop and looked up Castle Wyvern on her favorite web archive of ancient castles. It took a lot of digging to find any information on the place, and when she did, there wasn't much there. Just a short article stating where it was located and mentioning something about rumors of it being haunted.

Shrugging it all off as ridiculous, Aneisa called up the airport and purchased a ticket to the local airport that was closet to the town. Having a few hours before take off, Aneisa packed her bags, left the hotel and went to get some breakfast.

Once on the plain, she fell asleep again. She wasn't used to being up all day and all night, and last night had definitely been exhausting.

When they touched down, she found a hotel, checked in and spent the rest of the day resting up for what she felt sure would be another long night. She figured that she didn't need to actually get to the castle till just before sunset. She had no idea what Saraphina was looking for, so it would just be a wast of time and energy.

After Alex made his way inside the castle, he made his way into the old rooms of the settlement. The old catacombs, having been long since abandoned, have been riddled with the prescence of cobwebs, dust, and old skeletons. While looking through the rooms, he happened to come across the tomb of one infamous scottish man.

While he couldn't read the scottish writing, Goliath was able to help him translate. "Apparently this is the tomb of the human who imprisoned the gargoyles long ago.." He said to Goliath, who was speaking through him via telepathy. "A thousand years ago, the viking invaders sought to rule the land of Scotland by use of force and steel. They had made their path to here, Castle Wyvern, where they were met with resistance from the gargoyle clan that had been keeping residence in the castle.

Unfortunately, one of the gargoyles betrayed the rest, and caused the vikings to invade the castle, killing the lord and her only daughter. In rage, the castle mage cast a spell that affected all gargoyle. The spell commanded us to turn to stone until every scottish castle rose above the clouds." He finally finished. Alex looked at the pictures of the events that were flashing into his mind, and he wished he hadn't come down here.

"So, is the magical tome still here?" He asked as the sun began to rise outside. Goliath tried to show him a mental picture of where the tome was kept. But by the time Alex had found the area, he had seen that the tome was gone. "Stolen?! And recently too!" He said as the sun just finished it's ascent.

The Scottish afternoon sun was high in the sky and the breeze was warm. Aneisa decided to go to one of the small restaurants that were close to her hotel for lunch so that she could enjoy the nice weather.

Even though the grimoire was safely locked in her hotel room and Saraphina was presumably "asleep", trapped back in her stone body by the lake at Manobier, Aneisa found it difficult to stop thinking about everything. To try and distract herself, Aneisa read a book she had carried with her while she ate her lunch. It wasn't necessarily a classic, but it interested her.

After Alex had a good night's sleep, he walked down to the nearest cafe where he happened to notice an interesting site. A woman reading An Interview with a Vampire. Feeling a little courageous, he decided to sit at the table. "Interview with a vampire, eh? Good choice." He told her.

Aneisa jumped a bit, startled as a dark haired young man sat down at her table and began talking to her. "Oh! Heh, yeah. It's pretty good. One of my slightly guilty pleasures. Though I'm actually finding it even deeper and more... touching today for some reason." She knew it probably had to do with Saraphina and the tales of the gargoyles' plight, but she wasn't about to go anywhere near trying to explain that one.

Alex chuckled a bit by the woman's review to the book. "Ye, it is quite a deep story. I find Lestat to be a more.....how can I say it...down-to-earth vampire, if you understand what i'm saying." He said to her, waving his hand with different gestures. "But anyway, I see that you have a fondness of several rare books. And it just so happens that I am here looking for one." He said to her.

Aneisa cocked her head. "Really? That's interesting. My name's Aneisa by the way. Mind if I ask if there's a particular book you're interested in?"

Alex took her hand and began to shake. "Alexander Keith. Anyway, i'm looking for a sort of tome. You see, I travelled here after 2 painstakingly long months to find out where the book was, and I found out that someone had stolen it fro the castle. Now, I am not accusing you of theft, my new-found friend, but any information would help. Besides, it's been said that anyone without magical powers can only read gibberish." He joked to her.
PostPosted: Tue Apr 08, 2008 5:19 pm

Aneisa's eye brows raised in interest as Keith spoke. "Only read gibberish, huh? Interesting. Well, I'm just a visitor to the area. Only got here this morning as a matter of fact. But I'm fascinated by castles and all kinds of odd history stuff like that. Just what castle was this magic tome of yours stolen from? And if what you say about it is true, of what value could it be to you? Unless there's more to you than meets the eye?"

Alex just pouted a bit, and waved his hand in the air. "Like I said, i'm a collector, I like to show off to people with my rare books and such. Also, even if someone HAD magical powers, the person would have to discover that on their own to read the book." He said to her. He then forced his cheeks to flush, and he laughed a bit. "Oh yes, sorry about that. The book is from Castle Wyvern." He told her.

((BTW, I'm planning on making a Matrix RP called the Second Reinassance. Wanna hear about it?))

Aneisa got the distinct impression that Alex wasn't telling her everything. But then again, she had things she wasn't going to tell him either. "Really? Castle Wyvern, huh? That's an odd coincidence. As a matter of fact, that's why I'm here. I've recently..... gotten interested in a story from over 1000 years ago, and the trail led me here. I was actually planning on going out there this evening. Maybe we could find some clues there?"

(Sure. I don't know much about Matrix, though)

((Basically, it's the events after the movie. You see, in this future, machines have imprisoned humans in a reality so real, that the humans don't know that they are imprisoned within it. That world is called the matrix. What happens is that one person tries to free humanity and the machines from their need to use each other for energy.))

Alex then heard her said the word 'we'. "Wait, did you just say we?" He asked her, his eyebrows cocked in confusion.
