"And again, thank you," Brightling said, both pleased and amused by the medic's generosity. Then again, she was a medic, and perhaps altruism came with the territory. It was a distinct possibility.

Watching her parus and the little chirop, she couldn't help but smile. For Flickerwing to not be scolding the newcomer angrily was a huge improvement on her typical behaviour. Brightling wasn't going to risk disurbing them and reminding Flicker that Mallow was only a few short steps away.

"Tell me," she said to Mallow, curiosity lighting her bicoloured eyes, "is your practice a large one already, or could you perhaps allow me to come and visit someday soon. I have need of a few odds and ends that I seem to have run out of. I have a kit, you see," she added by way of explanation. "Little things, nothing important, but it's nice to have around for any little accidents. I just seem to be running low on a few things..."

Mallow almost immediately shook her head lightly from side to side. "Oh no no no, you may come by as often as you wish! I keep quite a good store of things," she stated happily. Her chest feathers rose slightly out of pride and she bobbed her head, enthusiasm twinkling brightly in her eyes while her face showed more control.

"Mmhmm. I just picked up some lovely variations of All-heal that I had ordered from an Apothecary, and I have plenty of dandelions for staving away infection from minor cuts and the like." She gave an almost giddy laugh and shuffled her feet -- talking about medicinal plants was always something that excited the Medic.

"Just come by whenever you'd like and I'll set you up. My current residence is on the south east side of the Deep Woods border -- right there on the fringes -- and my tree's got two red feathers hangin' up outside my main hollow. Mmhmm."

Brightling smiled excitedly—she was a bard, but she was curious about most things. Medicines, while by no means had neither the art of the apothecary nor that of the medic become a hobby of hers, were a particular interest. That was what had spurred her to collect the little kit she currently kept.

"I use a lot of peppermint," she said eventually, listening to Mallow's explanation and nodding as if she understood. Not much of it was familiar to her, though she did know of dandelions. "Oil, mostly. Good for bruises...nice scent, too." She smiled. "But I'll admit I don't know much at all about the field. I've always been curious, though. Thought about becoming a medic, but I'm a bit too scatterbrained. The Watchers thought I'd do best as a bard."

Mallow bobbed her head once more, ear-tufts perked high. "Mmhmm, peppermint is very nice indeed. I have plenty of that as well -- comes in quite handy for many different things. I imagine that you would also like lemon balm, too. It's mint, essentially." She then gave a short, confirming nod... and then an almost sheepish laugh.

"Scatterbrained schmatterbrained, I'm sure you would've done fine as a medic! But I must say, the bard community would be a gloomy place if there wasn't a Brightling there," she encouraged, completely ignoring her bad, cheesy play on words or what-have-you.

Mallow was sweet. Extremely sweet. Her reassurance made Brightling sleek her feathers in amused embarrassment. "Thank you," she said, eventually. There was no point trying to persuade the Medic to believe that Brightling was, in reality, quite flighty. But she didn't mind much. Laughing to dispel her awkward mood, she suddenly stretched both her wings and bowed low to Mallow.

"Mayhap 'tis nigh time for me to be going," she said after a moment. "After all, you have things to be doing, I'm sure. And I should really be off...bothering someone less important." Her quick laugh and wink were lighthearted, but she meant it nonetheless. "Maybe I can check on the fledglings, or somesuch thing."

Mallow gave a chuckle and canted her head slightly to one side. A small smile spread on her face and showed in her eyes, and she shook her head a little towards the Bard's reason to leave. She didn't comment on it, though, and a few moments later she straightened herself and laughed again.

"Mmhmm, oh alright, if you must," she hooted, her ever consistent chuckle dancing on her voice. She gave a return bow to Brightling, then extended one of her wings and tapped the Bard on the beak with one of her honey-tipped primaries. "You come visit, though, you hear?"

"Of course. You can count on a visit rather soon," Brightling said in her trademark sunshine-bright tone. "I'll be around, and we'll meet again, by chance if not by one of our own intents. Good luck with your practice, old Sawbones."

Laughing lightly, she dipped her head once more to Mallow and dropped neatly from her perch, catching the air and curving upwards again before disappearing into the nigh, leaving a clatter of bells and a bit of laughter behind.

{{*shot for waxing poetic* Anddd....done!}

As the Bard sailed away, Mallow gave her own bow to the dark before she too dropped off her perch and flew homeward with Glaz flitting behind.
