I was quite excited when Puchi gave me this test tube. She's been telling me about her science experiment mishap and now I had a piece of the action! Ha, that reminds me of the Star Trek episode with the gangster planet... But anyway! She told me the element inside was Yttrium.
How cool is that element name? It RAWKS.
I've always had quite a bit of a mad scientist streak, so I set about researching. I've some idea what'll come out of the test tube, since I've seen Puchi's Rhodium and NJ's Antimony, but still! It's up in the air! (Corvus has given me some grief about this addition, but he's as intrigued as I am by these "Mendels.")
Anyway, the research. I discovered Yttrium is used to make the red in television. Somehow. But knowing that, I've decided to see what happens if the tube is exposed to television. The element inside is alive, after all, it'll probably like the entertainment! So I've propped it up in front of my television and popped in my roommate's complete Invader Zim DVDs on play all. That should last... thirty hours or something. I'll check on the tube tomorrow.

Ooh, Yttrium's gone all swirly in the tube... I wonder what that means? Perhaps I should try something else... I wonder how it reacts to heat? I'll hold it up to the hot bulb of my lamp and see what happens.

And now I've got little flamies inside my tube! Yttrium is seriously the coolest element ever. I've taken the tube away from the hot light now, though. I just can't stop staring at the patterns inside the powder... They're mesmerizing. Every so often I think I can see something, like a face or a letter, but it quickly disappears. It's almost as if the powder is playing with me!
I've decided to keep the tube with me for a while, so I've tucked it into my bra. Heh, I wonder if it's male or female? It's a little dark down there, but plenty warm and comfy...

Yttrium's tube is all covered in cracks. Obviously, I'm not carrying it around with me any more. I put it on my desk near my speakers; so far it's been exposed to Phillip Glass, Apocalyptica, Yoko Kanno, and Palestrina. Odd combo, I know. It's hard to work on anything because I keep worriedly checking on the tube, hoping this is okay.

This test tube has been cracking for days now, and I am at a complete and total loss. I think I might need professional help. Perhaps my poor Yttrium is just... broken.
Corvus has been utterly no help. He's been in a real funk lately and don't want to deal with any pets, not even Griswald. So I'm on my own for this.
I think I'll have to ask Puchiko for more help. She told me a cracking test tube means my Mendel will come out soon, but... You don't suppose it's dead, do you? I mean, maybe it tried to come out and instead just died. Maybe it didn't actually like the music (currently playing: Lemon Demon). Maybe it wants me to do something more.
Unfortunately, this thing is not a flower. I can't imagine watering it or planting it would have any effect. Puchiko said not to open the test tube. I'm hardly going to carry a cracking test tube around with me.
Maybe Rikard or Severus can cast some spells on it. I don't know. Mixing science and magic might not be such a good idea.
Then again, even bad ideas are something at this point.
