[ Every story has a beginning... ] :: Finding The Bottle Much like he'd often did at the time of the year, Silver didn't even bother to set up his tent when he finally found a small hill to sleep on. It was drawing on to be a bit late, as the moon was up in the dark sky, but crossing the Whi Forest was one thing - actually sleeping there was another new level of completely crazy, and the white-haired man considered himself quite sane, thank you. In fact, if he wasn't such a light sleeper, he would not even dare sleep like this, in the open and under the stars. In fact, even as a light sleeper, he probably should not... but the temptation was hard to resist. The dark-skinned man let his backpack tumble on the ground before he sat, leaning his back against a large tree, one hand blindly going through his bag for a water jug and a small clay pot - he poured some water inside the pot, then slid the jug back in his backpack. And then he waited - Jiro was probably off, hunting some small rodent for his own dinner, and the feline would definitively like the easy access to fresh water upon his return. In fact, food wasn't a bad idea, but he would have to start a fire first. Silver allowed himself to be lazy a few more minutes before working himself up and leaving to gather firewood. He did not wander far - only to the outskirts of the Whi forest, gathering the dead branches that had fallen off the trees there. They where always plentiful, which was a good thing, because chopping up one of those thees without knowing what it was would probably earn him a bunch of angry fruit gatherers. Daring bunch, these ones. A small shadow followed him, but he did not worry, if only because of the small point of light in the darkness that it emitted, and the mewling sounds that it also did. Jiro was done with his hunt, it seemed, and was only waiting for his human to be done before going back. The crafty feline had more than likely found the clay pot by now, and thus found their staying spot for the night. It was a system that worked well. Silver was about to turn and head back when another sparkle in the darkness caught his attention, making his head tilt. He let the tied-up bundle fall on the floor and went to further explore. It if it had been something dangerous, the cat would have reacted by now - bless his instincts - so Silver gave no hesitation as he crouched, eyes widening a bit when his hand came in contact with smooth glass. A bottle ? What was a bottle doing there ? It required further inspection - most likely with a full stomach first. One hand gripped the bottle, the other reached for the bundle, and he started to head back, cat in tow. The fire was now crackling, he had eaten, and thus his attention went back to the bottle. It was a very odd bottle, in lack of better words - something he hadn't ever seen in his lifetime - not even in his parents' manor. Rainbow glass - he hadn't known glass blowers could do something like that. It seemed like there was something inside, but all attempts to uncork it was met with failure, and he was not willing to use too much strength and end up breaking the fragile thing instead. It was almost maddening, and he decided to keep it. Maybe he would find the one who lost it in his travels. Or maybe someone would know more about it's crafter. Who knew. He carefully nested the bottle in his backpack, and curled up to sleep, letting the flames die to embers, and finally to nothing. [exp gained]

[ It... glows ?! ] :: Not an ordinary bottle...
The whole bottle-event had actually made Silver go back in his tracks, as in the morning he carefully crossed the Whi forest again and headed back to Amies, stopping at the market for some eggs, bread and meat (he had made sure there was nothing perishable left behind when he left - spoiling good food was such an horrible thing, even if years ago he would probably have cared less. After that, he headed home, planning to eat a late breakfast there. The dark-skinned man started the fireplace and prepared his heavy pan. Hmmm, bacon and eggs, as well as toast. This was always his favorite breakfast. Simple, but delicious.
He set the metal tray over the fire and put down the pan over it, tossing some meat fat inside to both coat it and keep an eye on the temperature this way. Jiro nested himself on the bed, staring at the pan intently. It always mean he'd get some good bits later.
It was only after all of that was done that Silver reached into his backpack to take out the bottle. With both the sunlight and the fire producing light, he would get a much better look at it. Maybe it had some branding somewhere as to who crafted it ? When he finally fished it out, it was only reflex that kept it from tumbling on the floor, as he had almost dropped it in surprise.
The bottle was glowing. It was the first thing that hit him. The bottle was glowing almost as brightly as the fire was, yet it was not hot to the touch. Somehow, the glass inside remained cool.
"What the..." Okay, this was now officially weird. Silver set down the bottle on the table in front of him, and crouched a bit to stare at it at eye level. It was then that he noticed the swirls. Something was circling the bottle, kept moving... yet nothing was falling down on the table.
The sizzle of the pan was the only thing that actually reminded him that he was making breakfast - he tossed the bacon and eggs inside quickly then returned his gaze to the bottle, as if staring it down was going to make him figure out what exactly was going on any faster. It was a good thing no one but the cat could see him, since his eyes where still as wide as saucers as he poked the bottle slightly. Still not hot, still safe to handle. Gathering all his courage, he straightened up and picked up the bottle, lifting it up to peek underneath. That was usually where the artisans signed their pieces, wasn't it ? That, or underneath the cork. If it was under the cork, he was so screwed. There was no way in hell he was going to try and open it NOW ! The light made it too hard to see anything, but brushing his hand on the underside revealed nothing at all. Nothing but smooth glass.
Curiouser and curiouser. While probably anyone else would have gotten rid of the strange thing right there and then, it only perked Silver's interest more, in despite of the potential danger. He'll have to find more about it... but now it wasn't like he could just wander down the Artisan's alley and the dock showing it to people without getting potentially unwanted glances.
He would find a way to figure this out. That he knew.

[ Searching, Searching... ] :: And finding nothing.
Silver had dedicated the day to finding more about the strange bottle he had found a few days ago, laying on the outskirts of the Whi Forest. And yet, he'd found no answer at all.
The dark-skinned man had spend the day wandering the artist alley, looking for the craftsman that had created it, and he figured that with that, he might find answer. Yet, the more he prodded, the more he searched... The more his mind seemed to get attached to that strange object that was now constantly occupied his mind. He refused to let anyone see it - this probably was not helping his search any, but on the other hand it kept any unwanted attention at bay. After all, how many glowing bottles with swirling waves did one see around ? Too much attention was a bad thing.
So he'd left the bottle home, under lock and key, and had left to the alley with his cat nested on his shoulder. A familiar sight - some artisans had recognized him, especially those he'd worked for before. Silver had gone through all the shops and tents there, every single one of them - along with all the chatting that followed, that task had taken him the whole day. He's inquire about glasses bottles with rainbow-like colors. Almost always he got a negative. No one's ever seen one, no one's ever sold one. There was only one shop that had one, but the bottles where completely the wrong shape, and the rainbow was well... sloshes of color. Nothing like the seamless gradient of his own, clearly of inferior craftsmanship. Not that he said it to the artist's shape of course, at least he managed to dodge his way out of having to buy it by pretending he was gathering information for a friend. Some had told him a seamless mix of colors like he was describing was near impossible.
And how did that explain the presence of the glowing bottle on his night table ? In no way, or course. Once the night started to fall and the shops started to close, he had to retreat and give up for the day. This whole mystery was incredibly tough to crack, and it seemed to only motivate Silver more and more.
But where to go now, however ? This was what he was pondering at the moment, as he stared at the glowing bottle. Maybe he was going about this in completely the wrong way, maybe the answer laid in the Whi Forest itself, yet the idea of straying away from the main path did not seem like a smart one. All the contrary in fact. Maybe the answer laid at the outskirts, where he had found the bottle itself ? Maybe at the hill ? Maybe...
Silver finally felt asleep with such thoughts still rushing in his head.

[ Mysteries Finally Revealed ] :: Clearly not what he'd expected.
Silver was quick to return home after his meal - ignoring the happy passerbys who tried to drag him into their games and parties. The dark-skinned man had a whole hell of a lot to think about right now.
He'd wanted answers, sure, but the answer left him almost as confused as he was when he's began. He got home, closed the blinds, and flopped in his bed, doing nothing but to stare at the calling for a moment.
The words that the man... no... Aren, had said still ran trough his mind.
________ "Those bottles are the ones who will protect you."
He suddenly panicked and one hand reached for his backpack, only allowing himself to calm once he felt the familiar leather with his palm.
________ "They are dusts or the new life. The ones who will save humanity."
The young man didn't even need to look in order to undo the cords that held it closed, watching as the bottle rolled out and finally nested itself against his midsection, glowing all the more brightly now.
Since it was finally free of it's prison, the swirls started anew.
________ "Take care of yours well and maybe your race has a chance."
How was he supposed to take care of a -bottle- ? What kind of special needs did it have ? How was it supposed to save anything ?
He'd gotten more questions than answers, really.
The bottle was alive. Was it why he'd gotten so attached to it ? Was it why he'd gotten so protective of it ? Why it never would truly leave his mind ?
________ "Alive, yes. And take care of it when it grows. "
________________"Treat it as if it were your child."
Fingers reached to touch at the glass softly. In despite the dim darkness he'd created when he closed the blinds to block out the sun, he could see the swirls shift, curl to dance around his chocolate-colored hand.
He couldn't help but smile, even if he could find the start of a headache settling in.
"If this is all true, what will you be, then ?"
Of course he'd gotten no answer, and Silver couldn't help but laugh. Now that was a whole new level of crazy. He was... talking... to a bottle. That was a new one. Maybe his mother had been right when she told him he was nuts. That was probably the only way one man could surrender a whole dynasty and never-ending riches for a life of wandering.
He would not notice it until the next day, but he eventually would fall asleep with the bottle nested against his chest, arms curling around it possessively - as if to protect it from whatever would seek to harm it during the night.

[ Pondering ] :: Silver makes his decision.
Silver had woken up with his mind still in the same kind of daze. Aren had probably been right on that regard - it was a lot for an human to handle. It still kind of made his head hurt if he thought about it too much.
The young man tried to go on with his day, but quickly found that he couldn't. He managed to eat a little bit, at least, which was a good thing because his last meal had been at the restaurant, almost 12 hours ago. He'd slept through the whole evening - it was pretty rare that he did that, at least anymore. Back in his youth he wouldn't have cared so much.
Jiro rubbed himself against his leg and meowed until he finally was handed the bacon leftover from his master's late breakfast, and the feline chowed down, purring happily as Silver once again returned his attention to the bottle. The swirls seemed to move a little bit faster, he noticed, but beside that, nothing had changed - the glass remained cool to the touch in despite of the light that never seemed to fade out. It dimmed and brightened sometime, he'd noticed, especially when he was talking...
Really made him feel like there was actually something -sentient- in there.
But what to do ? Damnit, if only he'd thought about stopping the scarfed man and ask for more information ! But no, he was too much in shock to think about that. He sure hated when that happened. He was still left with more questions than answers it seemed.
Jiro was finally finished with his snack, and the cat leaped on Silver's legs and curled up in a ball of fur there, one dark hand going to pet the feline absentmindedly. The purring never stopped.
What to do now ? Sit back and wait until something else happened, good or bad ? That seemed silly. There had to be a way.
Maybe...
Maybe he just needed to go back where it all began.

[ Enter Sitara ] :: The bottle is a bottle no more
Silver slept for a good long while, on that hill, too worn out and too drained to raise bright and early as he usually did, and do the trek back to the city-on-water. It was almost noon when he finally started to stir, noticing something odd. There was something warm huddled against him. This wouldn't have been usual, if it hadn't been too big to be his cat.
So where one gray eye opened to peek, and he saw a small girl to his left, he panicked and all but leaped off and backed a bit away in instinct. The girl looked equally startled and mimicked his backing away motion as the two just stared at each other.
The cat looked very amused from his perch in the nearby tree...
...Damnit, where did the bottle go ?! It was no longer clasped to his belt ! s**t, he lost it again ! ...But... Those hairs. Rainbow hair. Just like...
....The bottle had became this... child ?
________ "Alive, yes. And take care of it when it grows. "
...Oh dear.
The child seemed to get over her shock quicker than he did, and kept looking at him. She looked equally as lost and confused as he was, really. She'd woken up here and had no idea where she was and...
She ran the steps separating her from Silver, buried her face in his chest, and tried her hardest not to cry. And it was at that moment that something inside him just seemed to melt. His arms reached to hug her by pure instinct.
"There, there... it will all be alright." The tiny wings of the child bobbed. Wings. This kind of blew his mind. What kind of creature had wings. And rainbow hairs. And came out of bottles ? What an odd child. What would his family think if they saw her ?
....
Who the hell cared what they would think ? They had no input in his life. Not anymore. He'd tried to keep the link open but they wouldn't cooperate. Screw them.
"...Papa... ?" Came a tiny voice from downward, and something in him melted once again.
"Shhh, it will all be fine. We're going home now."
"Home ?"
"Hm-hm." Time to grow up, it seemed. "...Do you have a name ?"
The little girl peered up at him, the star charm on her head bobbing left and right. Wait, did it -glow- ? As a matter of fact, it did. "I don't think so... What's my name ? What's yours, papa ?"
"My name is Silver, but papa is nice." Dear lord, he was a father now. A father. Father of a child that popped out of a bottle. It made sense why he had been so overprotective now. "And you..." He glanced at her for second that seemed like minutes, before he took and lifted her (she weighted almost nothing, such a tiny little child...) and settled her on his shoulders before carefully bending down to get his bag. "Your name will be Sitara. My little starlight."
They'd better get going. It would be a few hours' walk until they got home...

[ Dear Diary ] :: Thoughts Of A New Father Silver sat at the table, glancing toward his bed. Or what used to be his bed, at the very least, as it was now occupied by the little girl he had named Sitara. His little girl. His brain was still in shock, really. That, and he's been sleeping on the floor for the last few day. He's been keeping busy with making the only free room in the tiny home into the girl's room, but had not found a suitable bed yet. And like hell she was going to sleep on the floor. The candle on the table flickered, but it gave him enough light. He reached for one of the books at the corner, opened it on the first page, and started to write. Quote: You know, when I was young, spoiled, confined, and overall stupider than I am now, the idea of a journal made me laugh. And let's not talk about diaries. Diaries where for my little sister, and for me to steal, use as potential blackmail, and potential entertainment. Too bad it wasn't very entertaining since we weren't really allowed to go out and play like the other kids - guess we had to make our own entertainment somehow. But that's past and gone - I've left years ago and I do not regret a thing. I've been to many places and seen many things, yet nothing could really prepare me for what happened in the last few weeks. I am now a father. Not exactly in the way one would expect either. Not only is Sitara too old to be a baby (I don't think there are words strong enough to express my gratitude on that aspect, so I am not going to attempt), but she also... came from a bottle. And is something apparently called a "Life Dust". There'd be no way in hell I could pass her as my biological child even if I'd cared to try. If this Aren man looks as particular as she does, then perhaps some of his mystery is already solved... Of course, this is requiring a whole lot of adjustment. I've thrown all the crap out of the storage room to make it into her room but im not quite done yet - having to watch over her is a bit distracting on that prospect. She's a little bundle of energy and I almost wish she had an "off" switch sometimes. It would make my life a bit easier. Having to stay here until she'd old enough is not exactly a thing I akm looking forward to but... she is more important. My life took an almost 180 degree turn after she entered my life as a bottle. I am still trying to figure out if it a good thing or a bad thing. We went to the artisan's alley today - I am showing her the city, bit by bit, so she doesn't get lost. I found two books, one is this one, the other is for her. I do not know what she will do with it... or if she will even do anything with it, but the smile on her face was worth the money. ...I am completely whipped already, arn't I ? This can't be good. I should probably try to sleep tonight. The white-haired man allowed the ink to dry before flipping the book shut. [exp gained]

[ A Day At The Market ] :: Fatherhood Isn't All That Easy
"Paaaaaaaa~pa ! Come, look !"
Sitara, as Silver had quickly noticed, was a little bundle of energy. The only time she really stopped was when she was sleeping. This made it a bit of a challenge to keep up with her.
Ah, to be young again.
"Sita, don't touch." The dark-skinned man said, patiently, for what must have been the 20th time since had come to the market. Sitara's room had been finished, but the pantry was empty - which was not a good thing for either of them. And since Silver wasn't quite ready to leave Sitara alone in the house just yet... He would have to have her tag along.
Which would have been better if she stopped trying to touch and play with every merchant's wares, honestly. He'd found a small cloak for the little girl, made of black cloth, that camouflaged her wings rather nicely. He had taken the time to gently comb her hairs into a ponytail, leaving the white streaks dangling. She still looked like an odd child, but she blended in a tad batter. Silver honestly doubted she went through those precautions each time she went outside, but he could at least made her comply under his presence.
"Aye, wanderer." The man behind the stand said with a grin as Silver came to stand beside the young girl. "It's been a long time since you've been around. That little lady's yours, eh ?"
"You could say that. I found her in a star-lit field and decided to keep her." Silver said with a grin of his own. Beside him, Sitara let out a giggle. This was closer to the truth than anything else Silver could have come up with, yet both knew the merchant wouldn't buy it.
"Aye, more like you found a lovely lady in a land far away, silly wanderer. Ye arn't the first and ah doubts ye'll be the last !"
"What's thaaattt ?" Sitara, mostly uninterested by the grown-up conversation, poked at one of the fruits at the stand, only to earn a look from her father, which she ignored completely.
"That, little 'un, is called an apple. Dey come from trees in the Whi Forest, and they're pretty hard to come by. Ya wanna taste one, dearie ?"
"Yes !" Sitara answered with a grin, and Silver had this perfect deer in the headlights out as the merchant took a plump fruit from the pile and fetched his knife to slice it into quarters.
"Ease down, wanderer ! Ah still owe you from the last time ye carried my boxes around, anyway. Ye probably lost track, as you always do ! And this can be our lunch, aye ? There, little dear. What's her name den, wanderer ? Or is she like you and she doesn't have one ?" The older man couldn't help but poke fun at the fact that Silver had never revealed his name to anyone here. If they knew, it would have been much too easily for him to be linked back to his family, especially here in Amies.
"In fact, she does have a name. Sitara." Silver said, all but beaming with fatherly pride as the small child took a bite of the quarter she was given.
"Hmmm, that taste so good ! Can we bring some of those too, papa ?! Please ?"
"Hm-m." Silver fetched some coins from his pockets. "Three apples, then ?"
"As ye wish, wanderer." The merchant looked over the pile, choosing the best fruits. "Ye should keep a close eye on her when she gets older. She'll probably break hearts, if ye stick around enough to let her, that is !"
"Ooooo... Papa, over there, look !" And so the little star girl was gone, darting off once again in the opposite direction, giving Silver barely enough time to catch the bag before having to dart after here.
"Sita ! I said WAIT !"
And so the cycle began anew.

I can't stop thinking about those stupid bullies. Well, really about how I finally got them to stop bothering me. Daddy tells me what when you have a problem, you should talk it out. He was wrong, talking out did nothing with those two idiots !
...But what really bothers me is what I did. Not the fact that I smacked them around, it was pretty nice, but how I did it. That light. I have no idea how I even did that. I... know that I am not like the other kids. Daddy never told me about it, but it's not hard to figure out. The other kids don't have rainbow hair, or wings, or skin as yellow as mine. Im... not sure if that bothers me or not. I like who I am, but what if there are always bullies around ? How am I supposed to take them all down if I don't even know how I did it ?

[ S t a r l i g h t ] :: I will be chasing a starlight...
In all honesty, Silver wasn't quite sure if he had ever seen a child be so suborn. And he had seen, and watched over quite a few after he started his travel and took on off jobs to pass the time. He'd met some extreme cases, but not as extreme as Sitara.
Putting her in bed wasn't so bad. The hard part was getting her to STAY in there. Which rarely ever happened. It took a turn for the worst once she had figured out that there was a pathway to the roof in the attic. He would need to get a way to lock the access to the attic later on.
Every night, it was the same thing - Sitara on the roof, staring at the stars. It didn't matter if there where clouds, or if it rained - each and every night, she went there, like clockwork. Nothing Silver did would stop her.
Almost as if something was calling her. It was odd, impossible to explain, and frustrating to all those involved.
But perhaps it was the most confusing for the little dust herself. She couldn't understand what brought her here every night, even if she knew that it made her daddy angry. She couldn't even find the words to truly explain it to him, this feeling she had been getting once the stars came out. Some sort of... longing, that she could simply not explain.
At the same time, it made her feel even more different than the kids in town. It was hard not to let it get to her, when she was the only one she knew with such quirks. Maybe she WAS the only one. Yet, she was too proud to allow it to come out to the surface, to talk to her father about this. He wouldn't really understand, wouldn't he ? Of course not.
On the flipside, Silver wanted to badly to understand, but he could not really do so unless the young girl would open to him. And thus the circle repeated, each and every night, neverending.
Sitara sent one angry glare at the sky before following her father back inside, knowing full well she would do it again the next night.

[ Calling, Calling... ] :: I can never go back. Quote: Papa and I had a discussion not too long ago. About how I keep sneaking out to see the stars at night. I wish it didn't make him so angry - I can't help it, really ! Well I guess I could ignore it... but I don't wanna.
I didn't want to talk to him about it. I thought he would laugh at me, or think im dumb or stupid. You know, like those bullies ? Only it would have hurt more if daddy did it, you know ? Well, a few days ago he made me sit down in the living room and he refused to let either of us do anything unless I told him about it. And he says -I- am hard-headed...
Well, anyway, I told him. And he didn't laugh. He wants me to help figure it out - says that there's a man he met before I was... born ? that told him that I was important... or something like that. He's going to try to find him again and see if he knows more.
....That is quite nice of him. He doesn't have to do it... ...but he's doing it anyway.
You're probably wondering what I am talking about, arn't you, diary ? Well.... I guess ill tell you too. It all started when papa and I where out later than usual... and I saw the stars. Nothing too strange about that since I see them every night, but !
I noticed that there are a set of them. Whenever I look up... I don't know, they always twinkle when I look at them. Always.
It's like they're trying to tell me something... but I don't get it. I can't understand it. I know it sounds silly, diary, but it's true. And I keep thinking, if I keep staring at them, maybe ill learn to understand them ?
Daddy's gonna do his best to help me... and he said he can take me star-gazing at night if I stop sneaking out all the time when I shouldn't be out. I don't want him to be angry at me, so I guess ill have to listen... [EXP gained]
