Kubwa was surprised at her words, but it was intrigue, not fear or incredulity. "You can see words? Wow."
He sat there for a moment, trying to envision what that would be like. Seeing a person's emotions as they speak. A thought crossed his mind.
"Hmm... So in a way, you could see when someone isn't being truthful? Or when they're hiding what they're really feeling?"
He hoped her questions didn't offend or annoy her, he was very curious.

Tari looked thoughtful at his questions, blinking a few times. "I suppose so, though I've never thought of it like that. I can tell when someone's hiding their real emotions, I suppose, yes." She said with a nod.
Tari didn't understand lieing, so she had never given the subject much thought. She was always honest, even if it meant hurting someone. She never meant to hurt anyone, but sometimes it didn't dawn on her that telling a little white lie could shield someone's feelings from being wounded.
Tari didn't mind the questions, in fact, she enjoyed them a lot. Usually she never told anyone about her 'ability', and it felt nice to talk about it openly. "I have an idea! Let's do a test." She said, watching her words fall to the ground. "You say something that's an ovious lie, like, the sky is green, and I'll see what color your words come out as." Now she was just as curious as him to see what would happen.

Kubwa chuckled at the concept, but had to agree. It was a good idea. But he had to wonder, if it was an obvious lie, might it be a different color than one he actually wanted her to believe.
"Alright, here's a few statement, and you tell me what color they appear to you," he said, pondering over what to say.
"Okay, the sky is green," he said first, the obvious lie.
After a pause, he said another.
"I have traveled great distances in my lifetime."
This was the truth.
"I got this tattoo on my arm of my own free will."
This last one was a lie. He didn't quite like telling the story of how he had gotten it, but it would be interesting to see if she picked up on it.
"Well?"

Tari watched the words flow from his maw, and she nodded as he spoke the first, obvious lie. As he spoke it it, the words flowed strangely, twisting and turning into all sorts of shapes she had never seen them do before. The color was one of light amusement though, as if it were a joke.
When he spoke the truth, the words flowed freely, smooth and unchanging as usual. They were a light purple color, telling her the words didn't upset him or make him happy, it was like a simple fact.
When he spoke of his tattoo, Tari blinked in surprise. The cloud words flowed up high, twisting and turning in all sorts of patterns. It was a crimson color, with black melting through it, and Tari was glad when the words sunk into the ground. She told Kubwa of the results, then looked at his tattoo curiously. "If I may ask, what really happened with your marking?"

Kubwa blinked, initially surprised, but then his expression changed to an impressed smile. That was quite a gift this lioness had. He was curious, and almost wished for the ability himself. Though, there were probably downsides that he didn't know about.
"I'm in awe. That was very impressive," he said with fervor.
He paused, glancing down at the tattoos on his body, particularly the one on his arm. He didn't really want to talk about it, to tell the truth, but she had told much about herself.
"I... spent some time as a captive with a pride for a crime I didn't commit. They tattooed their 'wrong-doers' so everyone would be able to identify them. Truthfully, the tattoos don't bother me much anymore. Though they do bring up less than happy memories."
