About to make a comment, his last words hit her like a blow to the chest, her brows knit together in a hurt fashion as she stopped moving all together.
Did he really think she'd just give up like that? They'd known one another for so long, and he...Her head dropped as her ears flickered back, she closed her eyes and looked away. Forced smiles....thats what he said..he'd been faking it? Of course, who wouldnt fake it, she was awful at this.
But damnit, he was her dearest friend, she couldnt just..leave him. That wasnt how she was in the least. But maybe it would do him some good, to realize he needed to stop pitying himself for once, and actually look around. He had a family that loved him, nieces and nephews who loved their uncle, as well as Anemone who adored his silly tactics...
He had her too...and she...she loved him. It burned her throat, the feeling of the tears swelling up inside her chest, she snorted. She hadnt said a word in several minutes, her wings arched back as she took a deep breath, looking up at him from under her locks she couldnt help the tears that now dampened her cheek.
"If your going to let her win, then yes. You deserve your pity party...You deserve to be alone..When the Zevach I know and love comes back. Let me know..your not him." She whispered.
"Amary isnt the world you know, beauty is only flesh deep..." She was angry, hurt...Her ears pinned back now, "Stop pitying yourself damnit..Your heartbroken, not dying..theres a difference...everyone before you has gone through it.." She shook her head.
"The river is a little ways that way.." With a flick of her wings, she took to the sky. Damn him, damn her...damn them all! She thought as her tears fell more freely now, she'd never cried before. She didnt fly far, maybe a 30 yard distance separated the pair, she lowered to the ground wrapping her wings around her. She cried for him, for his aching heart that she couldnt mend, she cried for Anemone...she cried for failing....Her sides wracked with sobs.

Why wasn't she talking....Zevach felt a stirr of curiosity rise in his chest as his ruby orbs moved up from the ground to give her a look; and god, he wished he hadn't. The defeated posture and that hurt look on her face tore whatever he had left of his beating heart, his eyes widening in a horrified shock in what he'd done. It was happening again, it was all his fault....Zarimunia had done nothing but help and now just like his sister; he'd let her down to. Worst of all it was by his own hoof.
"Z-Zari..." His voice hushed out, a tremor in his once strong deep tones were now nothing but scared and regretful. Each moment of silence was another stab, one more wound to bleed out against the rain. She finally moved, those wings he'd always played with since they met raised as her chin lifted but he could not see those beautiful ruby eyes from under her sopping blonde rooted locks.
Her words stung; it suprised him that they cut deeper than the ones Amary had told him. Zari was right, she had won and he'd given up so easily...since when had he ever given up on anything in his life. Hell, he'd still not mad peace with his own brother yet he'd let a mare take him over completely and tear him down albeit unintentionally. Amary was beautiful, and she very well knew it, yet they were different; she was able to look past his love for battle as it gave him a body to die for; but she did not accept it otherwise. Zari had never dismissed any part of him, infact she'd embraced his grumpiness, embraced that he dropped everything for Amary and that he was as social as a rock.
He couldn't do anything as he watched her take off into the rain filled sky, dropping out of view a ways away. He'd seen her tears, like his masked only sligtly from the rain. Clenching his jaw, the stallion turned the opposite direction and walked a few steps with the intention of leaving; he'd done enough damage. Yet as his hooves stopped, he found his heart would not let him take another step. In his mind, a soft music box melody began to play in his head; it was a sad sounding melody that he'd heard his dad hum as a child. He said it was the only thing that he could remember of his own mother, and that he'd said in such a sad but wise tone to hold on to what he had since nothing was forever in life.
Turning his head softly back to the direction of the river, he knew his father was right. She was one of the only things he had left going good in his life; he wouldn't give that up; god damnit he was going to win this one! Turning fully he began to swift trot towards the river, he could still smell her through the rain; and as he got closer see the glimmering specs of gold through the dismal atmosphere. He didn't slow as he neared, instead he picked it up a bit to stride across the banks to her; dropping his speed immediately to see her sobbing, shaking form. His own eyes brimmed with tears as he pressed his chest against her own, using his neck to wrap over her own tightly. He wasn't the best singer, nor has he the voice of any angel....but words stirred in his soul that he'd get out the melody the best he could with his deeper vocals.
"Me, I'm used to being tired and bloody, But you believed that I could be somebody. You put your world on hold for me, Gave away to follow failure through the fire. I need you to know I will; Believe me girl I'm so tired of running. I just wanna hold your hand, Stare at you like you've got everything I need; So hold back your tears tonight...Zari.
The melody stopped, but he wouldn't let go; keeping his face against the back of her neck as he held her close. No...he feared if he looked her in the eyes that his own tears would fall again.
"I want to try....Z-zari....I don't want to be like this. I want to be put back together....if you can b-be patient enough to wait till I find all the pieces..."

Her chest ached, Zarimunia had never been one to cry. She'd do anything to avoid it mess of it all completely, she'd seen Anemone cry several times, she had promised herself never to allow anyone to break her into tears, and yet here she was. As he touched her, she took a shaky breath, he was so warm.
Her eyes closed ever so slightly that it looked as if she'd fallen into a soft slumber, her tears stopped flowing so freely, just a random drop here and there fell from her cheeks and onto his chest. She rubbed her nose softly against the hallow of his throat, feeling the deep rumble from his voice as he sung.
No one had ever sung to her before, she was taken back at Zevach would do so with her. She felt honored, a warmth spread to her cheeks as a unfamiliar blush took over her face.
"I will always be patient, and waiting Zevach. I always have been, and I promise that will never change..Never" Her voice was slightly hoarse, not used to be used to sob before. The ache in her throat was a new feeling, Zevach just seemed to make her feel all these new things...
"You wont have to find the pieces alone. I will help you.." She pressed her face into his neck more, lifting it up to rub her nose against the bottom of his cheek.

Waiting for him...he didn't think such a small set of words could feel so wonderful. Sure; his parents often waited for him to come back home for a visit, but hell...thats what they were supposed to do! Yet to have a friend tell that all this time they'd wait, and have been waiting...well, it certianly touched his heart. Amary certianly never waited for him, since it was usually he which was waiting to meet with her.
Perhaps...things wouldn't be so bad afterall. He'd learned a valuable lession that love hurt; but not all bad.
A genuine smile etched acrossed his face, drawing his head back a bit to gaze down at her. He'd failed to notice how grown up she really was from the foal days he remembered to fondly. She really had become a beautiful mare...
"I couldn't ask for anything more..." He admitted, using his nose to brush away the last few tears which had happened to slip from her eyes. They were soaked, and it seemed the rain wasn't going to stop anytime soon. Nudging her cheek lightly as he moved to walk beside her, he kept himself close incase she got cold. "Come on...lets get out of this rain.."

She slowly rose to her hooves, making sure not to step on her mane or tail as it usually pooled around her it was so long. She tilted her head to the side and smiled softly at him. Her wings stretched back and up, stretching so slightly, she'd never left them bent for so long.
"You could..you really could " She said softly, she knew that she'd give him the world, the sun and the moon if she could. It made her feel, strange to feel such things for a stallion she'd known all her life. She looked at him now, he'd been so young when she'd first met him, and now he was older, not old but older. More mature featured now, filled out..It amazed her slightly of how much more handsome he'd grown, he'd always been handsome..But this, was different..
She smiled and nodded, a slight shiver ran up her spin. "You still..smell.." She said teasingly a little, "Not that bad though..I've smelt worse.." She smiled. She looked around, Zarimunia had traveled alot now that she were an adult, free to roam so she knew most area's decently well. "Should be a clutch of tight knit trees not to far.." She glanced to the sky,it really didnt look like there was an end in sight.

Perhaps he could have thought a little more on the context of her words...but right now his sore eyes and soaked body was a little higher up on his concern list. Zevach wasn't stupid, he did know there was something there between he and Zarimunia; but he assumed it was only a bond between kindred spirits. There had to have been something since no one else seemed to put up with his attitude for this long; especially since it had been worse when he was a young stallion!
His eyes rolled, forgetting that the midsts of his; well....emo-ness he'd not gone and bathed yet. Luckily for him the rain had helped in a way, making him not so unbearable. "I'm sure..." He mused, but then he got an idea. "I'll be right back..." He spoke, trotting a few feet over where a few young pine trees stood and promptly brushed up against the wet needles. Disspearing between a few of them for a moment, he emerged and returned to Zari's side before nudging her to walk. "Better?" He grinned faintly, ruby eyes nearly glowing from the pale and dreary backdrop around them.
"Good...we'll probably need to stay there for the night. It'll be harder for anything hungry to track us in this weather so it'll be better to just sleep than wander around." He admitted as he began to head to the place she'd mentioned; Zevach didn't like it when he couldn't have the upperhand on anything lurking around. With the rain coming down as it was and his hearing and sense of smell uncomparable to that of a Kalona or Skinwalker; he didn't feel as confident being a walking smorg than actually hiding out for once.
"What do you think? Or do you need to be home or something?" He inquired, unsure if she was still hanging around constantly with her family and Anemone.
