*Giggles*

Did you see Stephen Colbert's thing about Hillary Rodham Clinton being a Muslim? Her maiden name does rhyme with Saddam...

Anyway, a friend and I were talking about head scarves becoming trendy. The headline on Fox news,"ISLAMIC INFILTRATION OF AMERICAN CULTURE, OBAMA TO BLAME"

On that note, Obama is a Muslim and his middle name is Hussein.

Every time that Obama speaks he wins people's favor because he is a pretty good speaker but the truth is that he has never said what he will actually do, but only what he does not believe should be done.

I'm pretty sure I've heard him talk about what he would do. What has Hillary said about the unconstitutional executive orders? The only thing I've heard her talk about is health care, and whether she prefers diamonds or pearls!

And Barack's mother was white, and probably of Christian ancestry, which makes him non-Muslim, but I don't even see why it's a problem. So what if he was not a Christian? Would you want someone making a big deal about the fact that Hillary's dad was a Jew (if he was, hypothetically)? Probably not. This is America after all, we do have a thing called equality. In my opinion, what his dad was or was not isn't an issue. He wasn't raised by his father, he was raised by his Anglo/Saxon grandparents. That sounds real menacing, doesn't it? If he became president it wouldn't be some sort of champion for the terrorists, I'd say that if he was elected it would be a champion for the American people. For us to put this cultural tizzy behind would be very mature, and maturity isn't something we've had a lot of these past 8 years.

Obama is very much a Christian. Member of the United Church of Christ. His father came from Kenya, and was also a Christian (I believe). His mother was a little white girl from Kansas, and yes she was Christian. Nothing Muslim about Barack. Though it is disturbing that I have to prove that someone isn't Muslim, in order to show they have merit as a potential President.

America is not Jewish, it is not Christian, it is not Muslim, it is not Buddhist, it is not Voodoo. America has no religion, and so religion should play no part in our decision. Unless a candidate's religion calls for something illegal, it should not play a part in this decision.

I so totally agree Dis! This jibber jabber about who's Muslim and who isn't is really uncalled for, especially in our great nation.

Anyway, his pops was "reared" among Muslims, but he became an Atheist when he left Africa.

I am not saying that it matters whether he is or is not Muslim for him to become president, I was only stating a fact that his father was Muslim. The reasons I do not want him for president are far different than that. I want the person who I believe would be best for America and I just do not believe that is him.

You know, I read an interesting article on the Huffington Post the other day. It was an editorial by a former Clinton supporter. He brought up some interesting points that I think Hill supporters should think about before they completely remove Obama out of the picture.

Now way back in 1992 when my BFF (and I mean that) Bill was running for president, he was so very determined. He had no foreign policy experience, being that he was only a governor from the great state of Arkansas, he had a rough past, and he was relatively young at 46 (which happens to be Senator Obama's age). He was elected though, and it wasn't just some huge coincidence either. He became president because he had a message of hope and of change. Does that sound familiar?

I know you're probably wondering what that has to do with Hillary, but what exactly is she always saying about Barack? The same characteristics that she shoots him down over are the same qualifications, or lack there of, that her husband had not too long ago. However, Bill Clinton tried, and he became a very decent president for our country.

And no, I don't think experience has much to do with success, I think compassion has to do with success. I think perseverance has to do with success, and that something that Obama has a lot of. He's ready to take on the system and look at everything with a fresh mind. That sounds pretty good to me.

Hillary knows that this junior senator is a threat now, quite unexpectedly, and she's doing the best she can to split the democratic party. They both are in a way. That's what we have to worry about. All I care about is that when Barack Obama gets the democratic nomination all the Hillary fans still decide to vote for Obama, even if he wasn't their man...or woman.

well.. im conservative. i really wanted guliani, or mitt romney..

mccain isnt really republican..

as far as the democrats go... our nation is bankcrupt. i dont see how they plan to accomplish what they want without increasing our deficit.

ontop of that, i think we need to finish what we started in iraq. we're in a very bad position in that if we leave we ******** up foreign relations, and give them the opportunity to get stronger and hit us harder in later years. and if we stay, we still ******** up foreign relations but a foreign threat would be taken care of..hmmm.. which is better? future anihillation, or possibly none at all?

i think hillary and obama are both socialist... but.. at least hillary gives a damn about the polls.

im not worried about gay rights (its a big thing for me, as it effects me.), mccain likes to be bi partisan, hillary and obama are both for it.

but i find gay rights pointless if the nation i want to enjoy them in is getting attacked on homeland, or if i dont have a lot of money to enjoy it.

lets face it, democrats like higher taxes.

personally, i think we should have a smaller government that encourages charity.. charities take better care of people than the government does.. i think anything the government touches turns to s**t or worse.

smaller government rellies on the goodness and kindness of the american people to take care of american people.

larger government is like gimmie more money and ill take care of everything for you because you're all dumb and can't do it yourself.

thats how it feels like to me anyways.. i dont like being told i cant take care of myself.
PostPosted: Thu Mar 13, 2008 10:26 pm

Just to correct you, the Democrats favor tax cuts for middle class, tax hikes only for people who make $200,000+ per year.

And on Iraq; they'd need a world class economy to be a threat to us (let's face it, long range weapons require lots of money), and world class economies don't like to wage war on other world class economies. Also, we left Vietnam and they're out friend now.

He has a point...we left Vietnam and they never attacked us afterward...or ever.

As far as 9/11 goes, if it were terrorists, most of them weren't Iraqi, if any. 9/11 really has nothing to do with the war, it has to do with groups of people within many Muslim nations. I personally think the only way we can accomplish anything in the Middle East is to help them economically, which we aren't in the shape to do right now so it won't be happening soon.

Also, I know Obama wants to drastically cut the number of troops in Iraq/Afghanistan, which means WAY less money being spent on s**t that isn't making anything better. (That means lower deficit). Of course, a lower deficit won't do anything for the American people, because we'll be paying for the debt of this administration and it's ridiculous war for the next few generations. Not to mention our own debts on cars, houses, s**t we don't need, etc.

Socialism is not a horrible thing...
I do agree with you on the small government though. Bush and his cronies have definitely over bloated our already large government, and something needs to be done about that.

The hijackers were mainly from Saudi Arabia, which is where Osama himself is from. the Sauds are our allies, though.

As for helping Middle Eastern nations; we could stop sending them to war for a start. As for their economy, we can both get some benefit from it; we send over specialists to build them some modern infrastructure, we get money, they get to do business at a high level.

I knew most of them were Saudis. I didn't find it that surprising.

Personally I think the only way to reduce terrorism (I doubt it will ever be stopped by we mortals) is to help the economy. Infrastructure is a great idea, but most people want to go ahead and put in McDonald's and WalMart and s**t. What a horrible idea. I've always kinda looked at Hamas and "Al Qaida" as like Bloods and Crypts. Sometimes these people have no choice but to arm themselves. When you're desperate enough, your mind can be easily molded. I think terrorist leaders take HUGE advantage of the poverty in the Middle East.

As I've said in many a debate, "the man who must work 40 hours a week to feed his family is much less likely to take up arms against his neighbors". Build them schools, universities, factories, and hospitals. Educate them, feed them, and send them to work as doctors, diplomats, computer technicians, and other medium to high income jobs, and you'll see terrorism dry up very quickly. This can be helped, even further, by allowing them to choose their own government (not just forcing democracy on them, but allowing them to choose between two-party democracy, parliament style, monarchy, or something else).

Agreed.

You should really watch Charlie Wilson's War if you haven't. It was seriously the best movie I saw last year. They were so close to achieving success and then everything was aborted because the American government stopped caring. What was Afghanistan to us, anyway? Turns out we could have avoided 2 wars in the future if we would have just put forth a little more effort.
