Mtima tensed when Amadet started off on what appeared to be an almost previously prepared speech. The news that she was believed to be dead was not new to the goddess, it appeared very quickly as though Boma had been right. There was something of resentment in the way Amadet was snapping at her about it. Mtima drew herself up importantly, not going to take this laying down.

"I had no control over what happened, my domain is purely non-physical," she explained in a matter-of-fact and unimpressed tone of voice, "Your misfortune is not my doing, I am not the one you should be attacking for this. I never abandoned you, the pride abandoned me, abandoned each other. The others did die, fighting more violently than your kin."

When the lioness continued, claiming to have taken something precious with the aid of her son, Mtima grew visibly angry. She didn't like the idea of her son being used against her somehow, and she doubted very much that he would like it either.

"Wahabu would never knowingly help someone like you," she pointed out, "What have you taken?"

Kiongozi was learning a lot from the conversation, and she wasn't sure what to think for sure. It sounded to her like Amadet had lost her mind, blaming random seeming things on the goddess. Abandoning a pride that depended on you didn't sound too impressive, but she reserved her judgment until the goddess could respond. Amadet was sounding crazier and crazier, and Kiongozi was very curious about who this Wahabu was.

Amadet was only encouraged by the goddess' unhappy reaction to what she said, she wanted the goddess to feel bad, to get mad, to know what it was like. She laughed at Mtima when she declared that she was not to blame for her unfortunate appearance, that the gods were not to blame- it was not an idea that the brown lioness was willing to give up on too easily.

"You are not the one to blame! Then who is?" she demanded, stepping closer to the goddess now. Amadet was going to argue as long as she had to, and her smugness only amplified when she was questioned about what she had done.

"Like I said, he was tired. It made things easier for me, but I'm sure he was perfectly aware," she grinned, still not answering directly.

Mtima mimicked Amadet to show she would not back down, taking a step forward. She was a normally friendly goddess, but not without her own arrogance at her importance, at least in comparison to some mortals. And it wasn't look much like Amadet deserved any respect, something was not right even if she wasn't saying.

"It doesn't matter, they've suffered a greater punishment than you could deal out," she hissed, not wanting to play whatever game Amadet was playing now, "What did you do?"

Kiongozi fluttered her wings and hopped another step back, it looked almost as if it could get violent now- but she wanted to know what exactly had been done now, what exactly Amadet thought would get back at the goddess she blamed for such ridiculous things.

"No, it doesn't matter now because things are set right," she said with her unwavering smile, "They are more perfect, more special than anyone in the pride ever could have hoped. They are sweet and beautiful and whether or not they have the markings Amoret has.. they are infinitely better than her. Royal blood-" she puffed up, clearly reaching the climax of her little conversation with the goddess, "And divine."

Mtima's expression was steady, stubbornly unimpressed at what she had said so far. All she'd heard thus far was that Amadet was being petty and looking for someone to blame, and truthfully Mtima knew that Pepo could be partially blamed for what happened- he'd known some of the potential consequences of messing with the pride's royalty. Her expression only changed when Amadet started going on about a 'they' without explaining it, and went on to say they had royal blood and divine. The royal blood tipped off the goddess, Amadet had cubs- but divine blood?

Suddenly she looked more surprised than angry. Wahabu had cubs with this lioness? That was impossible, he wouldn't do such a thing on a whim, he did not at all seem the type to just have cubs..

"Cubs," she muttered, "He wouldn't do that." She growled now, not liking the suggestion but also not liking the idea of her son's cubs, her grandchildren, being held in front of her. Being used to make up for some great wrong that Amadet imagined she was responsible for.

Kiongozi was watching intently as the argument got more and more heated. Were she human she might have compared this situation to something of a soap opera. Really, by the sounds of things, this Wahabu was connected to the goddess somehow- and by her reaction to the idea of cubs with Amadet, it was a close connection. Mate maybe, that would certainly make anyone angry. She didn't even recall how Mtima had mentioned asking him directly about him and not given an answer.

"He would and did," she replied smugly, very confident in this because she knew it was true, "Perhaps not if he hadn't been so suggestible, but he's very fond of you. Simple common ground, good way to creep into a conversation with him."

Amadet was taunting now, though it was only effective in that Mtima didn't like the idea of her son being tricked. Amadet, now a mother, could understand that feeling- but she felt no remorse. She barely realized how she would react if something like this happened to her darling Pepo, or any of her girls. Her mind was purely self-centered at that moment.

The goddess was not entirely convinced, surely Wahabu would remember something like that. But if he'd been tired, it was possible he could be tricked. But his memory was still questionable, completely forgetting a whole conversation with a lioness- especially about his mother. It was.. hard to imagine. She tried to think back to her conversation with her son, when he described how tired he'd been, his insomnia, how K'A had helped him with the feather.. then she remembered the conversation shortly before she'd asked about Amadet. He'd had a vision with two cubs, a yellow one and a purple. A cross, that could come from either her- or from Amadet's family.

"How many?" she demanded, suddenly willing to entertain the idea for the moment, "Where are they?"

Kiongozi was listening carefully now, wondering if there was anything else she might be able to do in this situation. It was odd, to her, that the mother was not with her cubs- Mtima'safi was quite right to demand to know where they were. Perhaps the goddess would need her again. It was quite the interesting afternoon the honeyguide was having, usually she just sat around- sometimes with Kunda, sometimes not. Whatever the case, this was quite the change of pace for her! It was kind of exciting.

"Six of them," Amadet said proudly, more than willing to give up this little tidbit of information- it was part of the taunting, after all! "Six beautiful cubs, one has your purple- I had wondered about it but now I have the answer. As for where, you'll never know! I'd never give them up to you! The pride is gone, I couldn't show them the vast improvement, couldn't show them what a mistake they made. You were the only one."

The foolish lioness held her head high, "Whatever reasons you had to curse me so, you were wrong and now things are right. I'm not going to lose that now!" She still blamed Mtima for what happened in the pride since no other scapegoat was named, but her 'you' was meant to cover all three deities. She was satisfied, especially now that she'd spoken to the goddess.

The goddess was no longer sure how to react, she wanted to smack the smug look off of Amadet's face, wanted to knock some sense into her- she was not usually violent, though, or very strong. What on earth kind of idea was this, cubs should not be used as revenge, they should not be used to make yourself more important. Her son should not have been involved in an issue that the lioness had with her, it was a cowardly way out, it didn't make any sense.

"What goes through your mind, Amadet?" the goddess hissed, stepping forward, "Bringing my son into this, using your own cubs as a means to improve yourself- and not by being a good mother, but by using their blood. If these are the decisions you make, the pride was better off not letting you take Amoret's place."

With Mtima finally mentioning that Wahabu was her son, the whole situation made sense to the small bird immediately and she was even more confused by the actions of the brown lioness. Kiongozi wasn't entirely sure she wanted to stick around to see how this ended now, though. With the last jab made at Amadet, she realized this could get bad and chose now as her time to leave. Leaping into the air, she watched onl a moment longer and flew away to find Kunda. Wouldn't be he be amazed t hear about this!

Like any mother, Amadet was deeply offended at having her love for her cubs questioned. She didn't make the connection between what she was going and how she felt about that, she could have both in her mind. She growled, unable to keep her cool after the comment about being a poor choice for her pride.

"That's not true," she snapped back, now pretty much right in the face of the goddess. She didn't even notice the bird fly away, "I love them, it's only convenient--" Amadet stopped, seeing the flaw in her argument without even finishing it. All that was left was to stand there, staring at the goddess furiously.

Mtima had to move her head back, though she kept it high as she looked down angrily at the brown lioness. Her expression was once again unimpressed, now with obvious signs of disgust. She could hardly look at the lioness now, she had to find her son and try to double check his memory, ask him about his vision, anything. He would have to know, he would.. but he seemed so happy with Intombi, what kind of trouble was he in for?

"Where are they, Amadet?" she repeated her question, wanting proper verification and to see the children of her son, to try to make things right for them. Amadet was not making a good case for her parenting abilities.

"They aren't here," Amadet answered, dancing backwards a couple steps to get a better look. She would not forget the cruel comment, but she would take what little joy she could get from this last part of the argument, "You won't find them, they're hidden away so you can't!"

"And you love them!" the goddess snorted at this, the idea of hiding cubs away from their grandmother while you went to pick a fight.. that wasn't very motherly at all. Amadet was only digging herself into a hole here.

"You trick their father with the intention of making yourself more important, you decide to become a mother specifically to his cubs to improve yourself," she continued, listing off all of the things that were wrong with the situation, "You abandon them to pursue me, to pick a fight and to prove that they make you special, that they're special because of their lineage. That sounds very loving!"

With that and a sarcastic laugh, the goddess took a leap back- using her wings to help propel her away. She was finished here, and she knew she was about to start a race of sorts.

"If you won't tell me, I'll find them myself," she said, "Your reasons and motivations are enough incentive to look for the poor things, I'm through talking to you." Wearing a much different expression than she had shown up with, the goddess flapped her wings and was lifted up into the air- more than ready to end this conversation that moment.

Amadet gritted her teeth as Mtima listed the reasons she felt that Amadet made a bad mother. Leaving them had been the hardest part of her plan, but she knew they were safe, they had Gharadi, they were in a pride and they would soon be reunited with their mother- and at the Mtima's threat to find them with or without her giving up their location, Amadet resolved to get back to them first.

"You won't find them!" she dared to call after the goddess as she rose into the air, "You won't!" The frustrated brown lioness watched as the goddess flew off, and she waited until she couldn't see the goddess so well before turning off in the direction she remembered the swamps to be and took off herself.
