Shadowclan Medicine Cat RP Entry: Location: ShadowClan Event Thread Page: 101 Date: Nov 08, 2007 LINKQuote: RP for Medicine Cat
It seems that I put a lot more information in the characteristics than the actual RP. Oh well.
1.) Name of Cat you would like: Larksparrow
2.) Colors, rare colors and marking: Larksparrow is white with light and dark brown stripes on her face and brown splotches that almost resemble short feathers on her back. She has light blue eyes.
Sketch: http://i89.photobucket.com/albums/k234/TehTwi/larksparrow1.png

3.) Attitude and Characteristics of your cat: Larksparrow is a slim she cat with long legs, short fur, a narrow face, and a long muzzle.
Though very gentle and soothing, especially around kits and friends, Larksparrow has a skewed vision of the warrior code and feels that she can make up for any wrongs she does through her healing. For example, she feels almost no guilt even for murder, because she saved some other cats. And I don’t mean something like she doesn’t feel guilty for killing an enemy warrior chasing some kits or something. She took a life once and then felt it balanced out when she cured some cats, even though the death did nothing good. This will make more sense later.
Larksparrow works extremely well under pressure, but tends to get snappy when cats get in her way while she is working. She loves meeting with the medicine cats from other clans, but she is very proud cat and dislikes asking the other medicine cats for help. And she can hold grudges for an extremely long time. One example is her grudge against her mentor, outlined later, and a grudge against Thunderclan that sparked from the same experience.
Larksparrow tends to interpret all signs from Starclan as beneficial for Shadowclan and sometimes dismisses warnings, but she feels no guilt as long as she takes care of the cats that come to harm as a result of her misreading a sign.
I touch on this story during the RP, but I’ll outline a bit of backstory on Larksparrow and her decision to become a medicine cat. When Larksparrow was still an apprentice she fell in love with a silver tabby tom called Fogpelt, who had just become a warrior.
One morning Fogpelt was on dawn patrol with another warrior named Blackleaf and his apprentice. Near the Thunderpath the apprentice saw a mouse, and Blackleaf decided to hang behind and watch. Fogpelt wandered ahead, and he caught sight of a young Thunderclan cat peering into their territory. Impulsively, Fogpelt raced to chase the young cat off, and he barreled into a Thunderclan patrol retrieving their kit. Panicking, he tried to run back across the Thunderpath, where he was hit by a monster.
Blackleaf dragged his wounded clanmate back to camp where the medicine cat Thistletail did all he can. Larksparrow was ordered to go into Thunderclan territory with a large patrol for an attack. Putting her trust in Thistletail, Larksparrow charged into battle, fighting ferociously against the cats she felt were responsible for Fogpelt’s injuries.
The group returned after ravaging the Thunderclan camp, and Larksparrow was horrified to find that Fogpelt had left for Starclan. Angry at Thunderclan, angry at herself for not being with him, and angry at Thistletail, she ran away from camp for three days. When she returned she learned that she was going to have her warrior ceremony for the strength she showed during the fight, but she refused, demanding that Thistletail train her.
Larksparrow’s relationship with her mentor was very strained. She respected and hated Thistletail at the same time. She wanted to be better than him, and when she thought she was she killed him without anyone finding out.
The remaining cats in her care recovered, and Larksparrow accepted her warrior name. Starclan only still speaks to her because she truly is skillful and can help her clan.
So though she has a peaceful nature, and in genuinely concerned for the well being of most of her clanmates, Larksparrow has a bit of that Shadowclan cunning and evil in her. Maybe even some insanity. It hasn’t shown itself for quite sometime, but who knows what will push her over the edge next.
4.) Male or Female: Female
5.) Role Play: (Feel free to add fake characters to your roleplay) Your clan has lost a kit! It’s in RiverClan Territory! How will you get that kit back, who will you run into? Remember ShadowClan are known for there grumpiness and hostility! Get that Kitten Back!! What on earth will the clan think of you as a leader losing a kit!
Larkpaw stared at the small berries. It was amazing that such tiny things were so powerful. She reached out with her paw and touched them. Soon. Soon she would avenge him.
“Larkpaw!”
At the sound of her name the brown and white apprentice shot into the air, fur sticking straight up.
“Woah there! It’s just me!” Brushpaw laughed from the entrance of the medicine cat’s den. “I wanted to check on Thrushpaw.”
Larkpaw hastily shoved the yew under her bedding. “He’s sleeping mouse-brain!” Larkpaw whispered, pouncing on her friend. The two scuffled for a moment.
“Don’t kick up dust,” Thistletail scolded, pushing his way past the two smaller cats. “Our patients won’t appreciate it.”
Larkpaw’s eyes darted to where the berries were hidden. She hoped she had hidden them well enough.
“But Thrushpaw will be alright?”
“Yes, Brushpaw” Thistletail answered. “In a day or two he can move back to the apprentice’s den.”
“Great! I was so scared when Scarletstar announced that he and Whiteleg had greencough.”
“Hopefully this will be the last incident before new leaf,” Thistletail said as he settled down in his nest. “Now you get some sleep. I’m sure Mousetail will be taking you training tomorrow.”
“Yes, Thistletail,” Brushpaw answered with a dip of her head.
Larkpaw watched Brushpaw leave and disappear into the apprentice den. It was getting late. She curled up on her bed next to the deathberries, but did not sleep.
Around moonhigh she rose. Larkpaw carried the yew to Thistletail’s bed.
It was easier that she thought. Her mentor thrashed beneath her paws, each convulsion progressively weaker. She bent over and pushed her muzzle against his ear.
“That’s for Fogpelt,” she whispered as the light left his eyes.
The next morning Larkpaw made her way to Scarletstar’s den.
“Thistletail caught greencough from one of the sick cats,” she said quietly, looking directly at her leader. “He’s gone.”
***
Larksparrow tugged gently at a stalk of juniper berries and it came away with a satisfying snap. She caught the pile of cobwebs she had gathered earlier with her claw and turned and padded back to camp. I’ll have to get some marigold leaves next, she mused. The she cat ducked her head and pushed her way through the branches concealing the Shadowclan camp entrance. She had just gotten through when someone else barreled through the opening and crashed into her.
“Where do you think you’re going?” Larksparrow yowled at Badgerstripe. “You made me lose my cobwebs!” Sure enough, the dainty things had been quickly scattered around camp by the light wind that blew through the barriers of thorns and bushes. “Now I have to get more,” she sighed, her tone lightening.
Badgerstripe shook his head, breathing heavily. “I have to speak to Scarletstar,” he finally gasped, pushing his way passed Larksparrow.
The medicine cat blinked in confusion as Scarletstar slipped out of his den and caught sight of Badgerstripe.
“Did you find him?”
“No, but his scent leads passed the Thunderpath. I think he may have gotten all the way to Riverclan!” Badgerstripe answered.
“What’s happened?” Larksparrow mewed.
“Smokekit is gone,” Scarletstar said, his voice betraying no emotion. “Will you go comfort Sandface? She’s absolutely frantic; Pinefur is complaining that she’s scaring the other kits in the nursery.”
“Of course,” Larksparrow said quietly, quickly heading to the nursery where kit’s cries were mingled with a pitiful wailing. Sandface was hunched over in the corner of the den. Pinefur stood protecting over her three kits, glaring at the other mother’s back.
“Please make her stop,” Pinefur growled, her tail twitching angrily. “Give her some herbs or something!”
“I’ll do my best,” Larksparrow whispered, gently touching her muzzle to Sandface’s shoulder.
“Why don’t we go to my den?” she asked quietly. “You’ll be closer to the entrance of camp when the warriors bring Smokekit back.”
At the name of her only son Sandface’s cries became louder. Larksparrow gently pushed the queen toward the entrance, nodding curtly at the insensitive Pinefur.
The pair entered the medicine cat’s den and Larksparrow settled her charge on a bed of moss.
“Eat these,” she said, shaking a pawful of poppy seeds onto a rock in front of Sandface. Once she was satisfied that the queen had eaten, Larksparrow nestled herself on the moss bed as well and began to lick Sandface’s back.
It was quiet for a few moments, and Larksparrow’s thoughts drifted back to the last time she ever remembered a clan losing a kit.
Thunderclan.
She had fought so hard that day.
Larksparrow shivered. She could still see Fogpelt’s face when she closed her eyes. Why did he never approach her when she visited Starclan in her dreams?
“Do you think they’ll really find him?” Sandface mumbled, interrupting Larksparrow’s reverie.
“Of course, just sleep now.”
***
Larksparrow dreamed.
“Fogpelt! Wait up!”
Larksparrow bounded toward the silver tom, who smiled but said nothing.
Suddenly there was a roar, and the monster charged out of nowhere.
“Fogpelt! Look out!”
He just continued smiling.
***
Larksparrow flailed about in her bed, claws extended, tail whipping back and forth. Sandface leapt to her feet.
“Larksparrow! What is it?”
Both cats’ ears swiveled toward the unmistakable sound of a returning patrol and excited mewling.
“Smokekit!” Sandface flew out of the den toward her son.
Larksparrow watched the happy reunion. Her dream didn’t seem to disturb her at all.

Larksparrow Makes an Entrance Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 199 to 212 Date: Nov 14, 2007 LINKQuote: "It appears so," Larksparrow answered the deputy as she polished off the remains of the mouse and swiped her tongue around her muzzle. "If it's alright I'd like to go with Phantomgaze to hunt. I realize that my skills are a bit rusty, but I'd appreciate the chance to get out for a while. Perhaps you'd like to come, or could recommend a third member?" Following quotes too short to archive.

Silent as Stars Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 214 Date: Nov 16, 2007 LINKQuote: Riverclan:
Mothstar inhaled deeply. Among the familiar scent of Riverclan cats was another, one that made the brown she cat wrinkle her nose in disgust. It was extremely weak, but definitely Shadowclan. It didn't seem strong enough to be an enemy warrior though. Rather, the scent seemed to cling to the pelt of one of her own cats. Ravenfall and Wolffang had been out earlier, did it have something to do with them?
With Shadowclan reorganized Mothstar's thoughts turned to the last clan in the forest. The breeze that flowed over the moor seemed to be devoid of Windclan scent lately, and warriors had reported stale scent markers along the border. She wondered if something was wrong. It was nearing the half moon, perhaps Mothwing would be able to give her some insight when she visited the moonstone. Then again, Mothwing never seemed to bring back many omens or prophecies. She and Fernstar might be on their own when it came to dealing with Windclan. Quote: Mothstar looked up a the blue and white warrior. "I was just thinking about Windclan. Something just doesn't feel right with the border being abandoned." She nodded to Hiddendawn as she approached but lowered her voice to make sure no one else but the two could hear. "I was hoping to consult Starclan about it, but haven't you noticed how vague Mothwing can be when it comes to that sort of thing? I know it sounds horrible, but if its true we need to find a way to learn the will of our ancestors." Quote: "I wish I knew more about the way Starclan worked. I think all of us do. Unfortunately this incident with Windclan will be a big issue. Do you think it would seem weak to consult the Thunderclan or Shadowclan medicine cats? I'd hate to let them think that we've lost all contact with Starclan and need to rely on someone else. We could pretend we had a sign." Mothstar trailed off and shook her head. She couldn't lie to her clan like that. Quote: Riverclan:
"I'll have to talk to Fernstar about it," Mothstar finally answered. "Though speaking to Leafpool isn't a bad idea. Hopefully one of our apprentices will soon express an interest in becoming a medicine cat and complete training. For now I guess all we can really do is wait for the gathering."
Quote: Mothstar nodded at Fernstar's words. "Yes, even though all the clans should know by now that Mothwing is a wonderful healer I'd hate to have them think that the clan is weak because we might be cut off from Starclan. But at the same time I'd hate to make a large decision only to find that it conflicts with what our ancestors wanted. Waiting until the gathering is a good idea, but what if both Thunderclan and Shadowclan come knowing exactly what they plan to do? If their ideas conflict, Riverclan would have to act as a tiebreaker."
"I personally feel that Windclan should come back, but right now their territory is rich with prey that could greatly help our own cats. Would it be so wrong to use their resources while they were gone? And if we did seek out Windclan, would we send a group of cats from each clan or would a single clan take the responsibility, like Thunderclan once did?"

Training before Naming Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 215 Date: Nov 16, 2007 LINKQuote: Shadowclan:
Larksparrow was glad to hear that so many cats were willing to go out hunting, but she wondered if Rottenbone was getting ahead of himself. "I think our apprentices should wait until their mentors are formally named, and go on their first hunt with them, don't you?" she mewed.TehTwi Larksparrow sighed. Sometimes there was no reasoning with some cats. But the apprentices looked so enthusiastic, it was almost painful to try and hold them back. "I'm just saying, if I were a new mentor I might be a little sore that I wasn't the first to show my apprentice all the borders and be the first to show them how to hunt," she answered Foxtrot. "But it's your choice, I'm just the medicine cat," she joked. TehTwi Larksparrow sighed. TehTwi Larksparrow shrugged. "I think Chaosstar is seriously considering him, but I just don't want Rottenbone getting his hopes up in case Hazelpaw gets another mentor. Also, I've never heard of an apprentice whose first outing wasn't with thier mentor named before Starclan in a ceremony." Her tail twitched angrily.
"I mean, what if Silverpaw becomes accustomed to training with someone and then gets assigned someone else? And again, for practical reasons. Food is scarce at the moment, and chances are the apprentices might scare off more than they catch." She sighed. "Maybe I'm just being paranoid. I think I'll go take a walk."
Larksparrow's brown and white form slipped out of camp.

Windclan Visions & Unearthed Secrets Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 219 Date: Nov 19, 2007 LINKTehTwi Larksparrow meandered through the territory at an easy pace. The wind had died down, and the patches of sun that filtered through the pine trees were warm and welcoming. It was sunhigh when Larksparrow finally took a good look at her surroundings. The marsh had gradually became dryer and dryer. Patches of grass became larger and larger.
Her paws had carried her to the Windclan border.
The slim she cat focused her blue eyes on the horizon, but no one was to be seen. So much territory, just sitting there. Larksparrow tensed as she saw a bit of movement to her left. A rabbit, small and scrawny, bolted across the field. Without hesitation Larksparrow dove after it. She kicked up clumps of dirt as her paws scrabbled to find footing. It was five fox lengths away. Four. Three.
The rabbit suddenly turned to the right, making for a burrow. Larksparrow tried to turn with it, but she lost her footing and her back legs slid out from under her. The she cat tumbled over and lay on her stomach, panting. By Windclan standards that rabbit would have been a small meal, but it would have been a good meal compared to the frogs that were becoming more and more commonplace in the Shadowclan diet.
Defeated, Larksparrow slipped back across the border. She frowned as she suddenly realized the absence of wind. She looked over her shoulder and stared at the grass.
It was motionless.
Larksparrow shivered. The absence of Windclan was one thing, but the absence of wind in this notoriously breezy place? Her fears were calmed for a second when she saw the wind pick up a leaf, but they were rekindled by the fact that wind didn't even ruffle her fur.
The tiny leaf was carried in circles. It spiraled higher and higher, carried by a wisp of wind that only seemed to effect it. The leaf fluttered until it reached the Shadowclan border, and then it plummeted. The sky grew dark as a cloud obscured the sun, and the leaf sunk into a patch of marsh.
Larksparrow watched wide eyed as the leaf was sucked up by mud.
As Shadowclan devoured Windclan.
Larksparrow tore off toward camp. She had to tell Chaosstar and Moonstar. It was their time to strike!
Larksparrow didn't wait to see how the wind picked up again. If there was anything else to the sign, the medicine cat didn't care. It seemed clear to her what Starclan wanted them to do. TehTwi The pine trees whipped by as Larksparrow raced back to camp. She through herself through the opening, eyes seeking the purple and black pelt of Chaosstar or the black and silver Moonstar. She was ready to yowl her news when she realized that she was about to interrupt the apprentices' ceremony. Frowning, she positioned herself a few tail lengths to behind Chaosstar, as close as was polite while he was speaking.
As she looked around Larksparrow noticed Heartpool also intently watching the leaders. She wondered if the other medicine cat had received a sign as well. But how could a kittypet get a sign from Starclan? TehTwi Larksparrow started to walk over to Moonstar and growled as Tallpoppy beat her to their leader. What could be more important than a message from Starclan? Chaosstar had vanished too, how had he left so quickly?
She sat a moment and scratched at her ear, debating on what to do. Tallpoppy obviously didn't want to be overheard, but just because a regular warrior wasn't supposed to hear didn't mean a medicine cat shouldn't. If she followed them out of camp maybe she could talk to Moonstar next. Somehow she felt that Chaosstar might be a bit more inclined to act on her message, but as the black and purple leader was nowhere to be seen, Larksparrow slipped out of camp, following the scents of the three that had left earlier. TehTwi Larksparrow's eyes widened as she caught Tallpoppy's last words, the part about Lilyheart. Her ears twitched as she heard Foxtrot's yowl of disbelief, and the rustle of leaves as the red and black warrior retreated into the undergrowth. She hissed in irritation as Moonstar darted after the deputy. She didn't want to go on a wild chase careening after the pair, but she was highly interested in what Moonstar would do.
Larksparrow wondered if Lilyheart once was Shadowclan or if Foxtrot once was Riverclan, annoyed at herself for not arriving sooner and hearing the beginning of the story. If he was Riverclan, could they trust him? Especially in the heat of battle? She was about to mew a greeting to Tallpoppy, but the brown she cat launched herself after Moonstar. Larksparrow wondered if she should return to tell Silverpaw that his mentor might be a little late, but her curiosity got the better of her and she padded after the group at an easy pace. TehTwi Larksparrow eyed the other cats from a safe distance away. It looked like everything had been settled. She thought about hunting like the others, but another cat might wonder why she was out this far, and part of her wanted to keep this little bit of information tucked away until the right moment. She resolved to gather a few cobwebs as an excuse for being out of camp, and then wait to reveal her sign from Starclan when Moonstar returned.
TehTwi Larksparrow began her return to camp, tail held high, mouth curved into the smug kind of smile that came with knowing something barely anyone else knew, and the thrill of the power that came with it. She was taking a roundabout way home to avoid the hunting party, but suddenly she became aware of a pungent scent. Something about it was familiar. Her mind wandered back to when she was a warrior apprentice, wandering the territory after a battle session with her mentor. He'd shown her an old abandoned den, and made sure that she recognized the scent. It had been much fainter then, and more stale, but it was one and the same. Fox!
Larksparrow quickened her pace, heading straight for the camp. How idiotic a fox had to be to try and make a den in a swamp, she didn't know. She burst through the entrance, yowling for Chaosstar, Moonstar, or a deputy.
It looked like another thing was going to keep her from getting her message from Starclan to the leaders.
"There's a fox on our territory!" she mewed. "I scented it near the carrionplace!" Her mind connected the dots and she realized why the fox was there. "I bet it's trying to scavenge food from there."

Larksparrow bounded over to Moonstar as the leader called for those attending the Gathering. She had to talk to her before they left. Her eyes narrowed as she saw Heartpool also approach, mewing urgently. What was she saying?TehTwi Larksparrow regained her composure, the sense of triumph beginning to fill her at Clovenpelt and Chaosstar's reactions slowly overtaking her anger at Heartpool's absurd dream.
"Even if Heartpool's dream was real, nothing in it showed her that we should go find Windclan," she said, meeting Moonstar's gaze. "What if her dream showed our fate should we leave the territory as well?"
"I had a vision from Starclan too, and I think it's much clearer. I was walking alone near Windclan's border, when all the wind suddenly died down and everything became very still. Suddenly I saw a single leaf was carried by a wisp of wind that seemed to touch it alone, and this leaf fluttered over to the Shadowclan border. Seconds after it had passed the leaf began to fall, the wind failing. The leaf fell into a particularly swampy patch, and the mud sucked it under! Windclan was taken over by Shadowclan.
"Right before the message I had seen a rabbit too, as if Starclan was showing me how abundant the prey was. Rabbits will be a challenge to catch, but with practice I'm sure they'd make a better meal than frogs. As to what Heartpool said, the rabbit didn't appear sick, and how would Windclan know they carried illness without one of their own cats becoming ill? I'd think an ill cat might find it hard to travel, yet they've all gone. If there was a toxin in the water surely Riverclan would have been effected first, seeing as they flop about in that river all day and eat prey that lives in it."
Larksparrow watched Foxkit for a reaction this time. She was smart, Larksparrow had to give her that, but she was afraid that the young cat's logic might win over devotion to the warrior code.
(I find it ironic that Larky is questioning someone else's opinion of the warrior code XD)

Traveling to the Gathering Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 256 Date: Nov 29, 2007 LINKTehTwi Riverclan:
Mothstar watched as the sun slid closer and closer to the horizon line, dying the sky a brilliant red orange laced with purple. Soon there was only a thin strip of light left, and the first stars began to twinkle into view. It was time to head to Fourtrees.
Padding to the center of camp, Mothstar began to think about which cats to bring to the gathering when she saw the white and blue pelt of Brittlebone. The warrior had been very insightful during their discussion about Windclan, and Mothstar wanted to have her along. "Ready for the Gathering?" she mewed, catching Brittlebone's eye.
Mothstar also nodded to Cascadefang, happy to see that the deputy was ready to go. TehTwi Mothstar nodded and bounded toward the camp entrance, tail fluttering behind her like a banner. She matched Fernstar's pace paw for paw. The pair slid like eels down the muddy slopes of the riverbank, followed by the Riverclan warriors. Mothstar's stride lengthened until she was running at full speed, nearly purring at the way the cool night air flowed through her pelt and tugged at her whiskers.
The line snaked through the reeds and brush, each cat a silent, flitting shadow. The group could have followed the twoleg path and crossed the bridge, but something drew the brown she cat toward the river. Without waiting for Fernstar's reaction she slid into the water up to her belly fur and plunged forward with powerful strokes. The water was cool, but refreshing rather than uncomfortable. Her paws made contact with the mud and silt on the opposite bank and she arrived on the very edge of Windclan territory. Mothstar shook herself and waited for the others to cross. The night sky reflected on the wet warriors' fur, and to Mothstar it appeared that stars were swimming in their pelts.
Within sight was Fourtrees. The great oaks were sentinels in the dark, casting their gaze on each of the clan territories. The branches were just beginning to lose their leaves, and Mothstar knew that in the day they were a beautiful collage of oranges and browns and reds. Her second Gathering as leader was about to start. Page: 282 Date: Dec 10, 2007 LINKTehTwi Mothstar smiled as Fernstar passed her. The other leader's presence made Mothstar feel more confident. Even though there had been no clear sign from Starclan about Windclan, Riverclan had smart, clear headed cats at the Gathering tonight, and she was sure they would make a good decision.
The group padded into the empty hollow. Now the only thing left to do was wait.

New Deputies Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 309 Date: Dec 19, 2007 LINKTehTwi Rainwhisker purred and added his mew of congratulations to the chorus of cheers that rose from the center of the Thunderclan camp as the two new deputies were selected. Both Brambleclaw and Fawnfur were excellent choices. They had large paws to fill, but with time he felt that they would prove as capable or even more skilled than their predecessors.
The grey tom trotted toward Fourtrees in the middle of the group, occasionally observing the eager faces of the apprentices who were attending the gathering for the first time. It was wonderful that Thunderclan had so many strong upcoming warriors to present.
The scent of Riverclan hung in the air as the group slowed to a halt. Rainwhisker watched Sunstar intently, waiting for the signal. As they stood Rainwhisker's mind drifted to Windclan's mysterious disappearance. He felt that all four clans belonged in the forest, but he also wondered if this was a problem that Windclan would have to wriggle out of by themselves.

Idle Chat Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 282 Date: Dec 10, 2007 LINKTehTwi Larksparrow flopped down on the ground near the entrance of Shadowclan camp, running a front claw through the dirt in lazy circles. Her clear blue eyes wandered over the faces of the cats that would be attending the Gathering. Shadowclan had to show a unified front at the Gathering, and though Larksparrow had full faith in her vision Heartpool's message disturbed her. She had no problem with the mysterious twoleg cave rank with fear, after all what could twolegs do to a true warrior? Rather, Larksparrow disliked any influence Heartpool might have. No, not disliked. Loathed. She had taken care of Thistletail for Shadowclan's benefit! Things had been going so well too, when that kittypet had shown up. Great Starclan, whatever possessed the leaders to accept someone who wasn't Clanborn for such an important position?
To any onlookers Larksparrow appeared the epitomy of boredom, but her ears were tuned to the whispered mews of her clanmates as they prepared to leave. She was ready to jump at any sign of motion, but what Chaosstar and Moonstar were waiting for, she did not know.TehTwi Larksparrow's eyes widened. Any onlooker might have suspected her leader may have just suggested that she join Thunderclan, she looked that surprised.
"Foxkit is brilliant for one so young, but I would not tie her to this life without her seeking it out herself. With the way she verbally spars with the apprentices I'd suspect that she'd rather be a tactician," she laughed. "I could be wrong, but I'd hate to have her think she'd have to say yes."
"Many cats choose to become a medicine cat after something has prevented them from chasing dreams of being a warrior," she said quietly, eyes focused on nothing in particular. "Injuries, old memories," she muttered. TehTwi Larksparrow sighed as the clan dispersed for hunting before the Gathering, but as much as she wanted to learn the news from other clans, she had to admit that full cats were strong cats. Larksparrow slid out of the empty camp, silent except for the soft whispers of a few warriors, apprentices, and kits sheltering in their dens out of the wind. She wanted to check on the carrion place once more, where she had earlier scented fox. Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 309 Date: Dec 19, 2007 LINKTehTwi Larksparrow scowled as she reached the camp again, her quick loop around the territory in order to check out the carrion place for the fox and to find the hunting party both irritatingly unsuccessful.
"I'm getting soft as a medicine cat," she admitted to herself with mild disgust. She tried not to let all of the warrior training she received before deciding to become a medicine cat go to waste, but her tracking skills were obviously suffering from days of hunting herbs.
Simply waiting was difficult for the brown and white she cat. Starclan did not usually smile upon clans that did not respect the Gathering. The moon was already high in the sky.
Larksparrow nodded to Nightdevil, who seemed to be itching to get to the Gathering just as much as her, and then lay down, blue eyes focused intently on the shadows outside of the camp entrance, seeking any and all movement that might alert her to the return of the hunting patrol. Her ears strained to hear something, and she imagined every sound to be the crunch of dry pine needles against the earth beneath paws or the brush of fur snagging against a bush, but it always turned out to be the wind, taking advantage of her impatience and playing tricks with her mind.

Dangerous Crossing Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 322 Date: Dec 27, 2007 LINKTehTwi Larksparrow tensed as her paws met the hard concrete of the Thunderpath. Chaosstar, his fur barely visible, was waiting on the other side. Phantomgaze, his light pelt glowing in the moonlight, raced ahead. Larksparrow followed him without thought.
She was in a mist, a haze. Something was clouding her judgment. In the middle of the Thunderpath Larksparrow lifted her head to gaze at the monster. It raced closer and closer, and then she was in her dream again. "Fogpelt?" she mewed quietly. She could see him silhouetted against the bright light. She was so close to him. So close.
He turned and looked at her with mournful eyes. "Run," he whispered. TehTwi Larksparrow stared at Foxtrot, her mouth hanging open slightly and her blue eyes wide. She didn't seem to hear anyone as she slowly pushed herself to her feet. Foxtrot, Clovenpelt, Nightdevil, they all were blurs. She looked for Fogpelt, but he wasn't there. No unmoving bundle of fur, no spatters of blood. Had he escaped?
No, another part of her mind called. No, he didn't. He left a long time ago. Larksparrow shook her head.
"Thank you, Foxtrot," she whispered. "Thank you."
Then the white and brown she cat bounded up to Chaosstar and the cats on the other side, and then smiling, as if the event moments before had never happened, mewed cheerfully, "Shall we continue then?" TehTwi "We must take the territory! Weren't you listening to me when I spoke of my vision?" Larksparrow snapped at her leader. "Only a mousebrained fool would think it meant anything otherwise!" The medicine cat froze at Chaosstar's stunned expression. "It appeared that Moonstar hasn't spoken to you about that yet," she mewed sheepishly, wondering what had made her completely loose her cool like that.

The Calm Before the Storm Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 323 Date: Dec 28, 2007 LINKTehTwi "Still no sign of Shadowclan" Mothstar mewed to Fernstar and Sunstar after a loop around Four Trees, her tone now betraying worry rather than annoyance. She hadn't overheard the conversation, but the discomfort emanating from Fernstar was as tangible as the earth beneath her paws. The dappled brown she cat settled down on the other side of her clanmate, trying not to meet Sunstar's eyes. Mindless gossip was good and well for regular warriors at a Gathering, but the only things Mothstar could think of saying had to do with Windclan, which of course should only be seriously discussed once the Gathering had officially started.
Her eyes wandered to Cinderpelt and Lilyheart, who were speaking quietly on the other side of the clearing. Cinderpelt caught her leader's eye and then turned away once more. Mothstar wasn't certain, but to her it seemed that Cinderpelt was concerned. She wished that they hadn't been talking about anything important, but something told her that Thunderclan's medicine cat definitely had been searching for Mothwing. Mothstar stared at her paws guiltily. Maybe she should have come up with an excuse for the medicine cat's absence before they left. TehTwi Mothstar leapt to her feet at the sound of pawsteps. Shadowclan! Finally. No, wait, it was too quiet. Only one cat, two at most, was about to enter the camp, and the positioning was all wrong. She gave a mew of surprise as the cat pushed his way through the bushes, the stale scent of rabbit and the pungent smell of rats clinging to his pelt. Frozen, she watched as the brown warrior murmured something to Fernpelt, but she couldn't distinguish the words.
Mothstar bounded after Sunstar with the energy of a kit that had been stuck in the nursery all day, all efforts at showing dignity forgotten. Please Starclan, let him say that Windclan is on its way! Then I won't have to make a choice, she mused. Mothstar's smiled turned to a frown as she gaped at the warrior's bedraggled appearance. The flicker of hope was quickly crushed. The only story that came from Northwing's mouth was bound to be filled with bad news.
TehTwi Mothstar was so shocked at Northwing's appearance and story that Sunstar could have suggested they all sprout wings and live on top of twoleg dens and she would have been grateful for his input. Thankfully, he was able to speak to the Windclan cat in a calm manner as he tried to coax the remaining details from him. She was content to let him remain in control of the situation as she frantically worked out the best course of action from Riverclan's point of view in her mind.

Standing on Great Rock: The Gathering Begins Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 330 Date: Jan 01, 2008 LINKTehTwi Mothstar watched Chaosstar carefully. She could understand his desire to gain his clan extra territory, but she couldn't believe the hostility that he radiated. Why would he risk Starclan's wrath like this?
She watched Sunstar advance to the Great Rock and scrambled after him, trying to adopt the red and black tom's calm attitude, but her back paw slipped on the surface worn smooth by the pawsteps made by leaders of the past. She let out a mew of surprise before regaining her footing and taking up a spot next to Thunderclan's leader, leaving room for Fernstar. Mothstar's fur prickled with embarrassment as the warriors gazed up at their leaders. She wished she could just vanish into thin air, but that wasn't going to happen anytime soon, so she focused her attention on the pelts of the Riverclan cats, taking comfort in their familiarity.
Larksparrow could barely suppress a purr of delight as she saw Cinderpelt. The dark grey she cat always was sensible and spoke wisely, and was probably Larksparrow's favorite among the medicine cats. For some reason Larksparrow never felt threatened by the other cat's skills, despite the fact that she knew that Cinderpelt was as good if not better than her at what she did. She pushed aside the plot she was weaving about taking Windclan's territory and the tidbit of information she was still playing with concerning Foxtrot's heritage and let a real smile paint itself across her muzzle.
"The prey's running as well as it always does when leafbare is looming," she mewed jokingly, touching her tail to Cinderpelt's flank. "All is well in Thunderclan I hope?"
Page: 361 Date: Jan 10, 2008 LINKTehTwi (I'm back :3 ) Larksparrow's jaw dropped as Moonstar mentioned that there had always been four clans in the forest. If she had been eating, she probably would have been choking on her prey. Had her mouse brained leaders listen to a single thing she had said? It was as if Moonstar was ignoring the word of Starclan altogether! And Chaosstar was sitting next to her and not saying anything either! Larksparrow hadn't seen Nightdevil and Mintstripes slip out of camp on his orders, so it was almost too much for the medicine cat. Still she couldn't so openly dispute her leaders about Starclan in the middle of the Gathering, it was unheard of!
However, Moonstar's comment about the sons of Tigerstar had intrigued her, and words tumbled from Larksparrow's mouth on another issue, almost as important, before she could stop them.
"You say you trust these warriors who have strayed from their birth clan because they fight for you, and," she lowered her voice, "bear the semblance of loyalty." She looked the leaders in the eyes one by one, her own clear blue eyes narrowing. "But those cats lived their whole lives knowing their past, and had the opportunity to look on both clans they were tied to before making choices they now have lived by for seasons. Brambleclaw, Tawneypelt, and Hawkfrost grew up knowing that one day they might have to face blood relatives with claw and fang. They understood the challenge that awaited them and accepted it.
"But what would any of you do to a cat who only recently learned of their lineage, and may have doubts? What would you do to a cat who might be curious about the other half of the life they were tied to when they were kitted?" She raised her head and addressed all the cats at Fourtrees. "There is a half clan cat here tonight that has not been tested in battle," she yowled. "Would you, cats loyal to your clans, keep a warrior who felt guilt at raising a claw against kin, because they have not been prepared for that situation their whole life?"
Larksparrow tensed as the rest of the Windclan patrol limped in. Part of her really wanted to help ease their pain, but her vision was burned into her mind. If Starclan wanted Shadowclan to take over Windclan territory, what good could come from her assisting them? She breathed a sigh of relief as Cinderpelt bounded to their aid and ended her mental debate. There weren't too many, her friend could manage by herself.
It was true that Mothstar still wasn't certain about the Windclan issue, but because she wouldn't be until a sign from Starclan was sent to either Riverclan or Thunderclan, whom she felt she could trust, she felt it was important to show a united front. Sunstar, because he attended alone, effectively represented Thunderclan's view, but Moonstar seemed to be speaking exclusively for Shadowclan. Chaosstar's silence, to Mothstar, spoke of lingering doubts or unresolved debates within the clan, and divided factions meant that Shadowclan would not have as strong of a voice in the coming decision.
The large brown cat nodded at Fernstar's words. "What Fernstar says is true, Riverclan would be happy to send a patrol, but I do not think we can create the search party alone. Starclan forbid, if our cats get sick during leafbare we will need as many healthy warriors available as we can get."
Out of the corner of her eye Mothstar saw Larksparrow's whiskers twitching with irritation. She wondered if Shadowclan's leaders were irking their medicine cat as well. But even though she noticed Larksparrow's unease, Mothstar was entirely unprepared for what the white and brown cat announced.Page: 403 Date: Jan 16, 2008 LINKTehTwi Larksparrow's eyes narrowed with mild surprise when Heartpool didn't offer her services to the Windclan cats after going on about find them back in camp. She stiffened for a moment as the light colored she cat approached and sat down barely a tail length away from her, tucking her tail neatly around her paws. For a brief moment Larksparrow debated confronting her on the issue, but there would be ample time for that back home, away from the watchful eyes of the other clans. The best approach would be to continue with the issue at hand.
Larksparrow's whiskers quivered. She felt a strange sort of delight at Moonstar's silence. The warrior code was blatantly clear: choosing a mate from another clan was forbidden. Thistletail had always said not to blame kits, but how else could the behavior be curbed? Graystripe had been treated painfully well after his and Silverstream's kits were born and was a respected warrior once more, and half Clan kits were now accepted by leaders as if they were fully clanborn! There were no consequences anymore, no consequences at all. Choosing a mate from another clan was forbidden, she told herself once more. If this was the only way to get that point across to her leaders, by Starclan she was doing the will of her ancestors.
She was about to pose her question once more when a young tom approached, and Silverpaw's comment made the medicine cat blink. Surely Foxtrot hadn't entrusted this little one with his secret? But if he had, surely it would have become public information soon enough.
"How do I know about Foxtrot?" She whispered slyly to him. "How do I know about Foxtrot?" she mewed more loudly, letting the name roll off her tongue in a long, drawn out yowl, feeling satisfaction ripple down her spine at the gasps of shock that came from cats nearby as the mystery warrior was revealed.
"Cats of all clans, something is eating away at Shadowclan from within, something is eating away at all of us like maggots squirming through crowfood. It is a breakdown of adherence to the warrior code due to the influx of half clan cats. If they are allowed to dwell among us like this loyalties are created that aren't meant to exist under Silverpelt. Relationships that go against every rule we have been taught by our ancestors go unchecked. I realize that a purging of halfclan cats to show our devotion to Starclan and the warrior code, though the right thing to do, may seem too radical to some, so instead I propose this. The next cats to allow themselves to fall victim to the temptation of love outside of one's clan will be made an example. They will not be harmed, but made to leave our territories as a result of their choices. The next halfclan kits born would not be able to train as warriors. Maybe then warriors will have a greater conviction to remain loyal, so that the best may be done for them, their clan, all of our futures."(Don't entirely hate Larky XD She just thinks staying pure clan would make everyone stronger >.< She's a bit misguided....) Rainwhisker padded over to Fireheart and Cloudpelt, gently brushing his tail against the white she cat's flank to alert her of his arrival. "Searching for Windclan would be an interesting change from daily life at camp," he purred, sharing Fireheart's excitement. There still hadn't been any major chances for him to prove himself since the dog attack, and though part of him felt Sunstar shouldn't give him the honor of accompanying such an important patrol he had all his hopes on going.
The grey warrior frowned at Larksparrow's first announcement, and his eyes widened with surprise as she yowled the truth about her clanmate. He wondered what other clan made up the red warrior's bloodline.
Before he had time to ask Larksparrow had made her second announcement. Rainwhisker's fur fluffed up defensively, knowing that one of the more obvious cats whose loyalty was occasionally thrown into question was Brambleclaw. He wasn't particularly close to the cat, but he had served on enough patrols with him to know that his heart lay solidly with Thunderclan. However, he was uncomfortable with the relationships outside of one's clan, and Larksparrow's idea, though cruel, had merit. "This is getting out of hand," Mothstar mewed softly to Fernstar. "Riverclan could never cast out kits!"

Strength of Starclan: The Gathering Close Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 434 Date: Jan 22, 2008 LINKTehTwi Gathering Notes by me and Toshi_Chan heart
Riverclan arrives first to the Gathering, led by both Mothstar and Fernstar. Mothstar is undecided about what to do about Windclan, because she thinks using the territory as a food source until Windclan returns on its own should be fine. She truly wishes to get a sign from Starclan, and is worried that their medicine cats will not receive anything. Fernstar has decided that she wants to help find Windclan and bring them home.
Sunstar leads Thunderclan to the Gathering. Cinderpelt notices that Riverclan's medicine cats are not present, and is worried.
Chaosstar begins to lead Shadowclan to the Gathering, when Larksparrow freezes on the Thunderpath when she thinks she sees Fogpelt silhouetted in the car's light. Foxtrot saves her, and Larksparrow admits to herself that Fogpelt is with Starclan. The medicine cat pretends nothing has happened after thanking Foxtrot, and they continue.
The three leaders at Four Trees are startled when a cat enters on the Windclan side. It is Northwing, who was part of a Windclan patrol to drive out a badger. He got separated from the group, and has no idea where the rest of Windclan is. Silvertail, also Windclan and part of the group that chased the badger, follows his scent trail and also arrives at Fourtrees.
Chaosstar is about to enter Fourtrees when he asks his clan their opinions on Windclan. Many cats want the territory and feel if Windclan keeps leaving it they are perfectly free to stake a claim. They join the Gathering and Chaosstar is angered to find Northwing there, both because he and Northwing have grudges against each other and because if one Windclan cat comes back more are bound to follow. Chaosstar orders Nightdevil to go and start marking a new boundary, taking up Windclan territory, and Mintstripes follows to help.
Chaosstar and Moonstar have both arrived at the Gathering with their clan and none of Shadowclan are the least bit happy at seeing warriors from Windclan arriving. Many cats feared a fight between Northwing and Chaosstar would erupt due to bad history between the two, but all the clans settled again when Starclan threatened to cover the moon. Nightdevil is resting out on the Moor after marking a good line of Windclan territory for Shadowclan and is beginning to have second thoughts about their actions, Mintstripes is still out there marking somewhere. >.>
On Windclan's side of things, Darkstorm has joined the disjointed little group of Windclan cats at the gathering and Greymask and Owlpatch are on their way to joining as well.
All the leaders attending the gathering have assembled atop the Great Rock; Chaosstar and Moonstar of Shadowclan, Sunstar of Thunderclan, and Fernstar and Mothstar of Riverclan. Fernstar has extended an invitation to Shadowclan and Thunderclan for one of them to begin the gathering.
Moonstar begins the Gathering and opens with a general report on Shadowclan. Sunstar follows, and announces that the new deputies of ThunderClan are Brambleclaw and Fawnfur, and Fernstar gives her report. Moonstar responds to the comment on Brambleclaw becoming deputy with a less than subtle hint that the sons of Tigerstar are not to be trusted, yet does not voice any opinion on Tawneypelt. Sunstar and Fernstar become defensive, vouching that their cats are nothing but loyal, and Fernstar attempts to change the subject to Windclan.
Out on the moor, Nightdevil and Mintstripes wonder if they are doing the right thing by the warrior code, and finally decide that because they were following their leader's orders they can't be at fault. The remaining Windclan cats arrive, and Cinderpelt offers to aid them, though Larksparrow, and the newly arrived Heartpool, hold back.
Moonstar first brings up the idea of bringing a partol and makes a comment that leaves Sunstar questioning if she is truly offering help or lying. Moonstar tells him that she is being serious, for there have always been four clans in the forest. Chaosstar can't find an opening, and lets his mate handle most of the talking.
Cinderpelt treats the Windclan cats, and Fernstar and Mothstar agree to send some warriors on the patrol.
Larksparrow sits and gawks, wondering what her leader is doing, since she had informed her of her vision yet Moonstar was agreeing to the patrol. Maybe because of anger or maybe to stall for time, she uses the discussion about Brambleclaw to slide the Gathering discussion in the direction of half clan cats, and drops hints about a warrior who had not proven his loyalty to his clan after learning the challenges that came with having kin across a border. She asks the leaders what they would think of such a cat.
Mothstar is a little shocked at Larksparrow's words, but doesn't know what to say. Moonstar is silent as well, though she suspects her medicine cat is speaking of Foxtrot. The cat in question begins acting nervously, and Lilyheart begins to have a theory when old memories are stirred up. Foxheart, another Shadowclan cat, feels so angry at Larksparrow that he would have attacked her if she hadn't been a medicine cat.
Chaosstar finally speaks, quietly questioning Moonstar's intention to send a patrol, but Moonstar is still concentrating on Larksparrow and doesn't hear. Aghast, Silverpaw lets slip the first part of the warrior's name, and finding the moment altogether too perfect, Larksparrow blurts out the whole thing, and makes a startling proposition. LarkSparrow's Proposal "Cats of all clans, something is eating away at Shadowclan from within, something is eating away at all of us like maggots squirming through crowfood. Maybe then warriors will have a greater conviction to remain loyal, so that the best may be done for them, their clan, all of our futures." There are some very vehement and mixed reactions. Most cats agree that kits should never be thrown out under any circumstances, but a few cats here and there are a bit concerned about cross clan romances and think that, even if Larksparrow is going to the extreme, she is heading in the right direction.
***NEW***
The Gathering Begins to Close
Mothstar's pelt crawled with unease. It was all too overwhelming. Fear scent from the Shadowclan deputy and from cats affected by the news of his past filled her nose and mouth. She tried to clear her head but the whispered mews of protest and agreement concerning Larksparrow's announcement danced through her ears. The large dappled brown she cat couldn't take it anymore.
"Enough!" she yowled in the direction of the Shadowclan medicine cat, still softer than the cry other leaders would make to command attention, but more sharply and loudly than any in her clan had ever heard her speak before. Her silent prayers to Starclan must have found their way to an agreeable resident of Silverpelt, for she was suddenly filled with an energy and confidence that reached from the edges of her whiskers to the tip of her tail.
"These problems about half clan cats are an important issue, and they will be addressed, but not now, Larksparrow. The disappearance of Windclan is far more pressing. You and your leaders," she mewed softly but evenly, flicking her tail in the direction of Moonstar and Chaosstar, "Will have to deal with this by yourselves for the moment, Riverclan is going to prepare its cats for a patrol."
She leaped down from the rock into the crowd of warriors, pacing over to where Riverclan was densest. For a second her old doubts about not having a sign from Starclan sent to a medicine cat played up again, but another comforting thought replaced it. Sunstar had volunteered to help, so at least Cinderpelt didn't see anything negative about searching out Windclan. Her hope died again when she realized that she had no idea where to start, but as Mothstar took a moment to stare into the full moon, hanging in the perfectly clear sky, she knew Starclan would guide them.
She had to trust.

The Aftermath: Leader and Medicine Cat Location: Main Shop Thread Page: 485 Date: Jan 26, 2008 LINKTehTwi "Where do I stand?" Larksparrow mewed icily to her leader. "I stand on the side of the warrior code. I stand on the side of Starclan. And I'm disappointed that you refuse to follow their will. But if you haven't noticed yet, the other leaders are leaving. Shadowclan should be deciding a patrol." Page: 566 Date: Feb 01, 2008 LINKTehTwi Larky: "I don't recall you saying anything like that, dear leader, but Starclan wouldn't be pleased if you shut their messenger in a den for a moon. But no matter. I answer to Silverpelt, not you." TehTwi Larksparrow looked Moonstar directly in the eyes. Her tone was cold and even when she began to speak.
"Have you forgotten which cats travel to the Moonstone every half moon to communicate with Starclan? The last time I checked, it wasn't you or your mate. Starclan won't spell things out for you, they expect the medicine cats to do that. I told you about my vision concerning Windclan, and your blatant disregard for it was rather disturbing. Besides, half clan cats are a problem that concerns all clans Moonstar, and I had every right to alert the rest of the forest.
I've made my case, relationships in other clans are forbidden therefore kits that are a result of these trysts have no right here. Switching clans undermines loyalty, and the life of a kittypet is beneath us all. I'm not going to repeat myself much more Moonstar, because I know reason can't get through to you.
As for Darkpaw, I don't know," she added, padding away toward the camp entrance.
Her tail flicked and she looked back over her shoulder a single time, whispering softly.
"The other kits seem perfectly fine, maybe there's something wrong with her." TehTwi Up there with Foxpaw, like that was any argument, Larksparrow reflected as the sounds of camp life gradually faded into the background, overtaken by crunch of the brown carpet of leaves beneath her paws. Hadn't Moonstar once agreed that though Foxpaw was brilliant she had to focus more on action?
Her mind drifted to the other kits. Moonstar commented that Darkkit was ahead of them. Those poor little cats, losing mother's attention so soon. She would have to check in on them soon and see if they were alright.
