When will the relief come?

Remorse, rage, confusion, happiness, love... All these feelings hitting at once like an atomic bomb went off in my head. I'd never felt so many emotions in one place at one time. Whatever had happened here in this land the emotions left behind were overwhelming.

My legs became useless as gravity felt as though it was a thousand times stronger than normal and I dropped to the ground. I crushed my eyes closed and tried my hardest to force only one emotion to rule in my head. It was hard. I couldn't manage to take control and release myself from the on-slaught of emotions. I was vulnerable as I let out an insaned scream.

Now I found my legs again and I was up instantly and running from the place that had pummeled me to the ground. I ran hard and heavy trying to get away from the emotions still bombarding me. It had been midday when I had come across the place and it was now almost dark when I finally stopped running.

I came to a stop at the edge of a forest, a forest I recognized. I'd come across it as a cub and caught my father picking herbs a little farther into the trees. That's when I remembered, fathers herbs... He'd always said they relaxed him and made everything just go away but he'd only said that after eating a bunch of the stuff too. When he wasn't high off the things he'd told me never to try it. But those words were not the ones that had my attention in my memories anymore it was his high words. They made everything just go away... Maybe they would do the same for me.

I looked around to make sure father wasn't nearby and sniffed the ground a few times. His scent in the area was several days old. He'd probably been by to check and pick a bit while him and mother were passing by. It would probably be a while before he came back so I was ok for now. I slipped into the trees that I remembered being in as a cub and found the plants easily. There were lots more of them than there used to be. He must have been taking the seeds and helping nature along a bit.

This was going to make it so much easier to take some for myself. He'd never notice the missing leaves. So I carefully pulled a few leaves from the plants and ate them. I didn't pull any to take for later I just wanted to try it hoping it would help my nerves to calm easier and help keep me calm.

The leaves worked quickly as I ate nine or ten and I knew it only took father three to five to get the high he wanted. I never imagined how the plant would make me feel. I managed to make it out of the forest before the impact of the leaves really took effect and I was down on the ground. All my muscles relaxed and I was pretty much stuck where I was laying on my side with my legs stretched out before me. I was beyond calm in a place that almost seemed out of my body floating above the world.

I was hyped and relaxed at the same time. My eyes watched the grass in front of me as it swayed back and forth in the night breeze. I could see why daddy could lay for hours in the same spot after eating these leaves. I didn't want to move at all just watching the grass and the stars as they all seemed to move and revolve around me. Why had I never tried these leaves before? This was the relief I needed.

And just like daddy I was hooked. A new herbalist was born.
