Angavu was not nearly as observant as Shuman, not realizing his name was familiar at all. She paid enough attention when her her mother spoke, but sometimes she liked to tune some of the details. She knew mama had a friend with cubs she wanted all of them to meet, but that wasn't on Anga's mind right now. She did, however, remember her manners.
"It's nice to meet you, too!" she beamed, and looked around curiously when asked where she was from, feeling it was obvious, "I- I'm from here, my family's not really close to right here but .. don't you live in the Pridelands?"

"Oh! I'm sorry. I'm from the Pridelands too. I guess I'm just mixed up in my thoughts right now. They're kind of confusing me... Sorry about that."
Shuman smiled and left the subject alone for now. He didn't know this girl at all, and to be honest, he'd like to get to know her a bit better. She seemed rather nice, and a nice cub was always a plus over a bad cub, if you wanted to call them that anyhow.
"So, Angavu, how are you?", he questioned, hoping to lighten things up a little bit. "Good, it seems like?"

"I once met a lioness who wasn't from the Pridelands, said she was from Kusini-something! We helped her find her way home again, my daddy and my brother and me," she explained brightly, continuing the conversation a bit, "Oh, and our friend."
She smiled and nodded in response to Shuman's question.
"Yeah, and you looked like you were having a lot of fun!" she laughed, "Do you fight grass a lot?"

The green cub chuckled some, finding the thought of the grass from earlier actually being alive and speaking to him. He now knew that Angavu had done that horrible deed, only making it that much more fun. She seemed to like playing with grass too, or maybe that was just because she wanted to play with him. Maaaaybe. Still, she was pretty cool, and not really like any other girl he had met.
"I do. I like to roll around in it and everything. The crackling sound that it makes is so cool! Do you roll around in the grass too?" He then thought about what else she had said, and spoke, so as to not be rude to her. "A different land...? Woah.. I've never heard about any other lands. I wonder how many there are...."
Shuman pondered for a few seconds, trying to imagine just how many there were. He couldn't though, as he had no real knowledge of the world to speak of. So, again, he let his thoughts go, going back to what really mattered right now.

"Grass is a lot of fun sometimes," Anga nodded happily, "The grass is really different if you go far enough away from home, I think. I match this grass, but not all the grass." The cub beamed, nodding matter-of-factly. She jumped up from her seated position and went in a little circle, looking around them.
"I don't know how many there are, I never thought to ask," she mumbled thoughtfully, "I bet my dad would know, he used to not live here. He helped us find where Sirati lived."

Shuman looked around at all the grass that was here. Anga was right! Her golden pelt matched it perfectly! That would of been why he didn't see her earlier... Quite sneaky, if he did say so himself. Still, Shuman could and would get back at her... Someday in the near future, or so he hoped.
"Your dad's not from here?", he asked, his ears perked up in interest. "My mommy's not from around here. She came here with my dad after he found her out there in the Rogue Lands, or so he said." He stuck his tongue out in a playful manner, not really sure as to what the Rogue Lands were or where they were. He didn't care though. He loved the Pridelands, and he never had any intentions of leaving it.

The small golden cub did not know the full story of her parents, truthfully both her parents were Pridelanders. Her father was born a pride member, but had not grown up there. And then her mother and grandmother were Pridelander blood, though her mother had been born a rogue. All Angavu knew was that her mother, grandmother and siblings had always been here- and her father had not always been.
"My dad used to come visit lots, but now he stays," Anga beamed with another matter-of-fact nod, "I don't know how my mom and dad met, I never asked that either! I like it here, I don't know why daddy wouldn't stay. Whenever I went looking for him it wasn't as nice as here."

"Wow. I don't know of any family that doesn't live here in the Pridelands. Although, my mom and dad said that we have a really large family... So most of them probably do live somewhere else. I haven't really met anyone else.. Except for a cousin of mine. He was really nasty though."
The pastel green cub was surprised that the two of them were just sitting here talking. He was usually wary of girls... Since they had those nasty cooties and all. It was already bad enough that he had to live with three of them.. Not including his mommy though. His mommy didn't have cooties. Never, ever, ever!
"Hey! I have a question for ya! If you ever could, would you ever leave the Pridelands for another place to live?"

"Now that daddy lives here too, I think that's all of us," Anga nodded, beaming. She had no idea just how big her family was, not counting cousins she was right, all of her immediate family was here except her grandfather. "My mom, and dad, and all my brothers and my gram!" She paused, counting in her head- that sounded like everyone to her!
Angavu, having three brothers, never felt terribly uncomfortable around boys. She was more than happy to go along with whatever fun she could have- and why not? Sitting around doing nothing was very unappealing.
"No!" she answered the question immediately, without giving it much thought. She hesitated afterward, though, and considered a bit more, "Well, it's not as pretty from what I've seen. I like it here. Why? Are you going to leave?"

Shuman just had to laugh some. He had always tried to think of a reason as to why he'd leave the Pridelands, and he never could. Everything was just so perfect here! Why would anyone want to leave such a beautiful and sacred place? He was so proud to of been born here in these lands.
"Of course not! The Pridelands are my home, and I'll never leave it. I don't even want others to leave! I've heard that lions like to leave this place... In search of another home. I can't understand why though. If I could, I would run out there and stop them. I'd tell them about everything they're missing if they leave, and hope they stay. Yea... That's what I want to do!"
The cub dashed off a couple feet, pretending to play the role of a lion who stopped others from leaving, almost like a super hero or something. He held his paw out and puffed his chest out, looking stern and goofy at the same time.
"Stop! You can't leave here! This place is too grand for you to just walk out on it! You don't know what you're missing if you just walk off like that!"

Angavu acknowledged that she didn't actually know much about what there was outside of the Pridelands, but she was very happy to live here and wasn't too curious about th outside lands. Sirati's pride wasn't far away, meeting that little lioness had made her more curious than before, but she didn't intend to go anywhere now. Besides, her family was here.
"Oooh!" Anga muttered at Shuman's idea of stopping those who were silly enough to think that this wasn't good enough to be home. She giggled as she watched him pretend to stop someone, laughing at the look on his face and the very convincing words.
"I bet that'd work."

Shuman instantly lit up. No girl had ever really commented him on something he had done, other than his loving mommy of course. His sisters tended to tease him, his twin not so much. So, he was used to girls just being rather cocky to him, since he was a sweet and innocent little lion cub. Anga, however, had so far treated him like an equal... And not like she was better. She was just... Different than any other girl he had met... And Shuman really appreciated that.
"Really? You think so?" He bounced back over to where the golden lioness cub sat, sitting down himself. The same smile may as well of been plastered onto his face, as it hadn't gone away since Angavu had arrived. "I wish I could talk to other lions like that. No one would listen to me though.. I'm just a cub, and adults always think they're right about everything! Well... Most of the time."

This little lioness had three brothers, she wasn't necessarily always this agreeable but she certainly had manners. It was, however, very nice to have a friend. A real friend, not just her brothers! For this, Anga was considerably more cheerful and much keener on staying happy and friendly with Shuman. She nodded to confirm her comment, and gave a very matter-of-fact nod when he said adults always think they're right.
"Yeah, my mom never likes us going real far away from her," she described, trying to come up with something that supported his point, "But I don't always listen, I like looking around. Nothing bad happens."

"Really?", he asked, his green eyes blinking at her. "My mommy is the same way, sort of. She likes us to stay close to her side. I think she loves me and my sisters just a little too much. I mean, she treats us so nicely and calls us her little angels. Talk about embarrassing, right?" He paused for a second, and then started again. "I like to wander off too. I don't know how to sit still! I'm a little bugger, or that's what my mommy calls me!"
He laughed a bit, his tail lashing behind him some. For a second there, he felt like he had some real connection with Anga, but he couldn't quite place it. That was silly though! He'd never met her and she'd never met him. There couldn't be any type of connection! Shaking his head some, he looked up into the sky, seeing some white and fluffy clouds slowly rolling on by. The day was turning, but he didn't want to leave. Not yet. His talk with Angavu had just gotten started, or so it had seemed.

Angavu nodded very seriously when she was asked to confirm her story. It was true, mom got a bit overboard sometimes- she tried to be helpful, suggesting friends to play with or things to do, but mostly to the little lioness it was just a nuisance she didn't yet understand or appreciate. She nodded again when Shuman described his mother's actions as embarrassing.
"I think moms like doing that kind of thing, and I think mom likes to do with me most 'cause I'm the only girl," she said and then laughed at how his mother called him a little bugger. It wasn't a word she'd heard before, but she thought it was funny. She didn't put any thoughts or attention to the time of day.
