Well it means Lady. I was so thrilled when I found that out. I don't always love it though, sometimes it makes me sound like a cabbage eating hippy. Which I am not.
Nobody in my family goes by the name they were given at birth, so that's what I always ask people "what's it short for? Nothing? How weird. You mean it's actually just Jane? Not Janifer? Janet? Janice?"

*laughs* well its always good to know that your not a cabbage eating hippy. lol. i'd be kinda scared
my name 'lydeah' is not my real name (real, as in my birth certificate name). my name thats on my birth certificate is 'leah'. i always thought 'lydeah' was prettier.
btw, on a random note, what other names did your parents want to call you when you were little? my parents were considering 'lili'. i kinda wish they had named me that

I was always going to be Donnatella. I'm told I have my Mothers Italian food craving to thanks. She normally hates Pizza, and Pasta and things like that, but when pregnant she just couldn't get enough. I was always gong to be Donnatella, but I've always been Donna.
I think you're lucked out missing out on Lili. Loads of people are called Lili. And it's one of those names that no one knows how to spell, you'd get allsorts; Lilly, Lily, Lillie etc... NO, you're better off out of it

huh. never thought of it that way before. thats gives me a whole different view on the name
people spell my (and say) my name wrong ALL THE TIME. it bugs me because they would either spell it 'lydia' or realize that my name is spelt differently and spell something totally weird like 'lydiah' or something like that. my science teacher and 6th grade would always call me li-dee-ah. no matter how times i say that its lid-ee-ah, she would keep on calling me li-dee-ah. *shakes head* so glad i won't see her any more... rolleyes

Oooh, I hate people like that. I had a teacher in the first grade who insisted on calling me Donnatella "as that is what it says on your Birth Certificate", and then would yell at me if I ignored her. Because I didn't realize that she meant me. My super cool mama got her fired though, so it all worked out well.
Name's should be said the way you want. I've always found the name Sian great, and siobian (I may have spelt that wrong), I also have a friend called mhari and you say that with a v (vari).

Hi, I am new and I was wondering why no one greeted me on my introduction post. I see that the guilds are quiet right now. I was worried that I smelled bad or something...lol

NOt at all. It is quiet here. Always quiet, but especially since somethingtrue has been away. And I'm afraid that's mostly my fault. The world revolves around him and his posts. He'll be back soon though and overwhelming you with welcomes. He'll be thrilled LadyRose1116 Hi, I am new and I was wondering why no one greeted me on my introduction post. Ahh that sucks. I spent my 18th Birthday away from my family and that was rough. But also good, because I got to celebrate it again when we got back. You'll just have to make sure you catch up on the phone, which isn't the same at all, but at least you'll get to feel better

yeah... but my sister couldn't bring her cell, and the phone at her hotel is jacked up, so we have to talk via computer and email, of course
but a birthday w/o your entire family? i would hate that. i feel pity for you right now

It wasn't so bad. I was with my Brother, so we celebrated together. It was fine really. I wouldn't go out of my way to do it again. But we talked on phones, and opened cards that had been hidden in the luggage.
But why couldn't your sister have taken her phone?
