"Angeni..." Karma's tail swished behind him while he contemplated this new concept. "Maybe I'll meet one some day and ask them how they fly so high." It didn't even occur to him that it might be because of a physical difference that they were able to achieve such heights. In his mind, it had to be some secret of the winds that they knew. "If I learn I'll come back and teach you and Tuli," he said to his father, blue eyes looking up with just a glimmer of the same intensity that often sparkled in his mother's eyes.
Foals relatively gathered and under control, Vara started to nudge them towards the trail while looking back at Scythe. "We won't be out for long, dear." Maybe that night the two of them could spend some time alone once the foals were asleep. Until then, their energies would be spent in keeping them entertained and their hungry minds satiated with knowledge.
She looked warmly back to her foals. "We can look for frogs, herons, and maybe even a cardinal if we're lucky."

"Cardinal, I forgot about the cardinal!" Tuli expressed as she fidgeted before being nudged toward the trail. She looked back excitedly calling to her father and brother. "Bye Dad! Bye Karma! We'll find a frog for you!"
She looked over to Mel and nickered, "I bet I'll find a frog first!" She didn't have a clue what a frog was, but she knew she wanted to find one before her brother did.
Scythe nodded to Vara and smiled, hopefully the children would all be worn out and sleep soundly tonight. His attention turned back to Karma, "I've never had the pleasure of meeting an angeni. I'd be curious to know of their secrets." He smiled looking at his son. He recognized the look in his eyes, he knew his son wouldn't give up on this particular quest. One thing he learned from Vara, never stray. "I'm sure you sister would be thankful too. Luckily, the two of you didn't inherit my wings. You two will actually be able to fly instead of glide." He was thankful of that at least, his children would be able to flee if needed.

Mel shouted his goodbyes back at his brother and father and continued bounding on beside Vara and Tuli. "Will not! I'm gonna find that frog first and bring it home to show dad! He'll be so proud of me!" He pranced around happily as he observed all the new things around them. There were new bugs and many different birds flying around, he didn't know where to start.

Vara started back down the path with the more energetic of her two foals. They seemed to be mostly entertaining themselves enough that she didn't say anything for a moment and let them chatter. What she did do was keep on the look out for interesting creatures. They seemed to have no end of excitement for new animals and she hoped she'd be able to find something to capture their interest. She spotted a butterfly happily, one of her favorite varieties. It was a very dramatic insect with yellow wings decorated with black stripes.
"Mel, Tuli. This is called a tiger swallowtail butterfly. We're lucky to see one this time of year."
Karma looked over his father's wings. It was true that they didn't look exactly the same. Why was that? If he could fly better for it he supposed it was probably better that he had a different sort of wings. He looked between his father's wings and his own before giving his a cursory flap. "You'll still be able to teach me to fly, right?" He didn't have any idea how he'd learn if his father wasn't able to. Watching birds, perhaps?
