Leezus flicked the oven light on and off quickly, his meticulous gaze darting too and fro in the equally well-used and well-cared-for appliance, before standing tall, head only an odd few feet from touching the mildly low ceiling. He gave a strong nod of approval to the small, dark woman resting on a stool nearby.
"They're good?"
"They're perfect." Lee inhaled the strong kitchen smells he had grown to associate with his now round-n-preggers friend. She was a good seven months in, and mightily rotund for such a small woman. "Caleb loves your souffles, but you should've waited for me to come before starting, sweetheart."
Lee frowned, feeling unusually upset at the wife who had insisted on cooking at her usual rate, and was now red-faced and exhausted from it. He quickly crumpled to his knees and waddled up for a cuddle with the yet-to-be-born child. Kara's eyes rolled as she let him get in his once-hourly hug-snuggle some-sort-of-physical-contact necessity. He ran one large hand over the top of her belly, already in love with the little girl inside. After all, he loved the father and mother. The mother was his best friend, and the father, well. He was a sight to behold. Lee loved him almost as much as Kara did-- and they discussed the various adorabilities Caleb had frequently. It was a staple of their BFF chatter.
"... Lee," Kara's rather high voice only shook him mildly out of his stupor. She had been checking the mail Migdello brought in for her earlier. "Lee, did you give our address to anyone as yours again? You know Caleb asked you to stop doing that..." Her delicate hand held a small, creamy envelope in it, now stained slightly with the flour residue left on her hands.
Lee jumped at the accusation, "Nonono! I haven't done that in months. Cael was so stern last time, too," he looked up at her with big, sorry brown eyes, his ear still pressed to the bun in her proverbial oven.
The baby flipped. "Well, this doesn't look like junk. It's hand-written." She glanced bright blue eyes down at her friend for approval, before opening it herself. Kara's eyes scanned it quickly, a slow smirk gaining intensity as she read on. "... love life... Lee, this. You have to fill it out. Ohmy. You-- hah. Haha!"
She passed the letter to him, which he looked at quizically. "My love life stinks? ... Does it?" His brows furrowed as he finally worked away from his friend, being careful not to put any weight on the preggobelly. "I didn't think... does it?"
"Well, considering the fact that you haven't been in a 'real' relationship since... well, since you-know-who," Kara sighed and air-quoted appropriately, also moving off of the stool and onto her feet with one protective arm around her engorged stomach. "... I'd say your love life needs some fresh juice.
"I have to go to the bathroom. Again. You fill it out while I'm gone-- Really, fill it out!" Kara pointed in the direction of the drawer with pens, scissors, odds and ends collected within, and slowly made her way down the hall with her sundress swishing appropriately to and fro.
Leezus set down the soft paper, grabbed a pen, and put his mind haphazardly down.
