Personality: Emotionally withdrawn, all but silent, and consumed with a bitter loathing for everyone but himself. He learned to find pleasure and eventually a reason to live in annihilating the numerous assassins sent to kill him – and by extension, anyone who threatened his existence. Gaara's insomnia, forced upon him by the fear that the demon inside him would eat away at his personality if he were to fall asleep, only furthered his instability and desire to kill. Realizing that Naruto's strength stems from his desire to protect others, Gaara abandons his prior ideals and decides to acquire strength by caring for others. The first sign of this is that he apologizes to Temari and Kankuro for his actions towards them. While in the past he was fairly hostile to his siblings (to a point which they were both scared of him), he has since come to hold them in a higher regard, and talks to Kankuro about his problems and dreams. As a result of becoming the Fifth Kazekage, Gaara now acts as the villager's source of protection and values their lives over his own.

Bio: Prior to Gaara's birth, Sunagakure saw a series of budget cuts that made it difficult for the village to operate. As a result, Gaara's father ordered Chiyo to seal the One-Tailed Shukaku within Gaara[5] during his birth in the hopes that he would become the ultimate weapon for the village. As a sacrifice was needed, Gaara's mother was used. Before she died she cursed Sunagakure, hoping Gaara would avenge her death. As with the other demon hosts, Gaara acquired a physical trait of the tailed beast inside him (tanuki, the animal which the Shukaku is based on). The dark rings under as well as above Gaara's eyes are from him getting no sleep. This is caused by the fear of having the Shukaku take over him when he sleeps, therefore he never sleeps.
Gaara was trained by his father, but raised mainly by his maternal uncle, Yashamaru. Because of the power of Shukaku, the villagers of Sunagakure hated and feared Gaara, seeing him only as the monster sealed within him. For a time, Yashamaru seemed to be the only person who cared about him, being the only person who understood that Gaara could not control his powers. Gaara's father, however, did not see him in the same light, and viewed his frequent attacks upon villagers as a result of a failed experiment that was a threat to the village. Because of the danger Gaara represented, the Kazekage asked Yashamaru to kill Gaara. Yashamaru complied though ultimately failed in the attempt. Although Gaara tried to dismiss this attack as an order of the Kazekage, Yashamaru corrected him by saying that he had willingly accepted the mission. Having never truly loved Gaara, Yashamaru hoped that killing him would avenge the death of his older sister, who had named Gaara after the phrase "a self loving carnage" (Ware wo ai suru shura?), a sign of her hate for Gaara. In a last effort to kill him, Yashamaru blew himself up in the hopes that it would kill Gaara too. Gaara survived the blast without injury and lost the only person he thought had cared for him.
However, after numerous circumstances, he has come to realize just how lonely he really is. He no longer lives to kill, but he does not warm up to others yet. Slow to trusting, some have wormed their way into his heart, slowly melting it.
After coming to the Pride Lands, he met up with the Queen of the Damned, Akasha. She wasn't really someone he liked right away, but he needed someone. His first thoughts about her had been wrong, but After an eventful night, he realized he may have been to Hasty. Akasha was kind to him..but now he had a small problem to worry bout: Sabaku no Aito. His son was violent and highly unstable and would never listen to him. This new familty of his was both his greatest joy and his deepest sorrow. He bleives that part of the problem lies in Akasha and Aito's brother, Freniere, being so near all the time. Aside from that, he now seeks to right his own wrongs...to pay for his sins. To do that, he'd have to leave 'his queen' and go off somewhere..possibly never to see her again.
Soon after leaving Akasha, he met yet another lioness, Discord. After Akasha, he had vowed never to let another female take him with her charms, but Discord did. He talked with her a while, then they parted. He thought he would never see her again...like Akasha.
After this, he stumbled upon a lone cub, near to death. a Beautiful blue, He rescued the cub, and claimed him as his own son. He had to let the cub trust him, but even then, he felt closer to him than he knew he ever would to his other son, Freniere. They were a family.
Then Aito was taken. He didn't know why, but leaving Yuki was hard, but necessary. Upon finding Aito, he ran into a lioness...who was familiar. Discord. He had met her Before, but she was a little younger. Only when she took his son did her see her again, and Join her pride...erm..Harem. But she had another lion, and she bore his cubs. Still, Gaara stayed by her, hoping he could keep her to himself, though he knows it is a selfish wish. One that will never come true. But it is all that lets him hold his sanity.
For a while, it seemed as if Aito had finally come to accept Gaara as his father. They didn't argue, they didn't ignore eachother. Even Yuki was more confident. They were a family for once.
Then Aito decided to start bullying the meek Yuki. Gaara was sure it was only brotherly love until aito left a gash in Yuki's ear. Stepping in to intervine, Gaara both Stepped on Yuki's leg, hurting it, and almost suffocating Aito with sand. The result; Aito denied him altogether and, along with Yuki, who was now scared of him, left.
Heartbroken, Gaara began to wander from his queen's side to try and keep his mind off of what had happened. It was lonely, but he would always find some way to return to Discord.
Soon, he met another lioness. After losing Aito AND Yuki, He thought that nothing could make him happy. But She did. Valora was almost perfect. She listened to him, comforted him, and tried to help him regain his sons. All the while, looking for HER son. She did have her flaws, but they were completely overlooked. Before he knew it, Gaara fell in love with her.
But it was too good to be true.
After declaring his love, Gaara was caught is a HUGE rainstorm, and took refuge in a cave. There, he met Heaven, a nice lioness who, like him, wore clothes. Chatting, everything was going fine, waiting for the rain to stop. But as the storm dragged on, they were soon joined by another- Knives. At first, Gaara was unsure about this lion, but soon realized that he spelled trouble for them.
And trouble it was. Both Gaara and Heaven were raped by Knives, who had taken over Gaara's mind to have him rape Heaven as well. He then promised they hadn't seen the last of him. But knives had done more than rape them.
He Destroyed Gaara. Ashamed, He promised to help Heaven with whatever resulted, but he was damaged. He didn't know what to belive or who to turn to. Valora could leave him. Discord might hurt the cubs. Heaven was...pissed. He was once again broken.
