Nzinga listened to Xibalba's words, but didn't really hear them, they didn't really sink in. "Yes, that sounds good," she murmured and nodded, having got the gist of the lioness's words. She couldn't really hear; there was this soft buzzing noise in her head, like a faraway swarm of bees. Nzinga was fatigued, from her journey and the spare hunting trips she had attempted in the past few months, and from the harrowing emotional experience she had just undergone. Never had she so poured her heart out. It was strange and dizzying and it made her tired.
Sleepy, now, Nzinga's heavy eyelids drooped and she could think of nothing more delicious than falling asleep under the palms. At the moment, the prospect of a future mate was both exciting and scary, but it seemed a million miles away. Perhaps after she had slept, after her head had cleared, she would feel more alive. More confident. More like herself.
"Xibalba," Nzinga said, "I trust your good sense. But I am not as I used to be, and I am weary. If you let me sleep a while and regain my strength, in a few hours we may set out on our search."

Now that they had stopped their discussing, Xibalba began to notice the signs of fatigue that Nzinga was showing. No doubt the poor lioness had gone through an emotional rollercoaster and was tired now from all the stress. If Nzinga had been telling the truth, and had kept these feelings bottled up for so long, Xibalba knew that letting them out had been quite a trying affair. But it was over now, and she could relax and sleep. The lioness could only hope sleep would not change her mind about things. But no matter, she would do what she had to do.
"Of course, how could I be so inconsiderate?" Xibalba crooned, looking as apologetic as she could manage. "Rest your head, beautiful one, there is no need to rush our search. I will stay here with you while you sleep and when you are ready we shall set off." She smiled, and gave Nzinga and small nudge towards a grove of trees. They would be safe there. Xibalba would be true to her word and stay while the other lioness slept. That would not, however, stop her from telling one of the guards to seek out her beloved hyena. His time in wandering would come to an end, and he would serve at her side once again. But Xibalba would think about him later. For now, she would focus on Nzinga, and getting her life straightened out.
