Ridley stiffened for a moment, and then realized that Liam was being sarcastic. Relaxing marginally, he finally recognized the hair, the eyes, everything. "Nurse Joy, that's right. I thought you looked similar. You don't happen to be related at all...?" he asked, amused.

The Team Rocket grunt went up the stairs after him, but not into his apartment. He hovered at the door, wincing when his stomach growled again. Poking his head in, he glanced at the Nidoran and laughed at the look on its face, though he sobered a little at the mess in the apartment. He could certainly never live that way, but to each his own.

"Uh, so what's it like living in Katarina?" Ridley inquired from the doorway, just to fill up the silence.

"Yeah, unfortunately I am. Which gives me the flamboyant hair color I have now."

Taking one more look around the apartment, he noticed Elizabeth and Ridley making more faces at each other and shook his head, grabbing a bowl and pouring some pokemon food into it.

"Ridley, I'd like to introduce you to Elizabeth. Eli, say hi."

The nidoran gave the healer a sulking face and buried itself under the covers. Liam took no notice and started back towards the door, placing the food at the wall near the door before stepping through the frame, closing the door. "Sorry 'bout that. Eli's not the friendliest of pokemon."

Once again heading down the stairs and into the sunlight, Liam took a left, heading towards the smell that was beginning to fill the air.

"Haven't lived here that long. 'Bout a month or so. It's... pleasant." he replied. Waiting through another minute of awkward silence, he looked back over at his conversationalist, trying to think of something to say.

"So... pokemon collecting?" he managed to say, quirking an eyebrow curiously.

Ridley grinned. "I like it, though. And that's got to be nice, having such a huge family."

Glancing again at the Nidoran, he shrugged. "I'm used to it. My mum had a Delibird that pecked me all of the time as a kid," he rolled his eyes, backing out of the doorway as Liam stepped through it and closed the door.

Walking shoulder to shoulder with Liam, he took some time to look around at the city as they walked, jerking the strap on his bag. "Hmmm."

Blinking, Ridley met Liam's eyes for a moment as the question jerked him from his reverie. "Uh... yeah. It's something to do," he shrugged. "I'll probably train, too, but I really want to see all the Pokemon out there." He waited, almost holding his breath to see if Liam would buy it. Team Rocket hadn't exactly been forthcoming in giving a guy preparation for living a double life.

Ridley's stomach moaned loudly and he clapped a hand to it, wincing.

"I've been on a ship for a week and they only served frozen fish sticks and ketchup," he explained.

"Well doesn't that sound like a wonderful first pokemon experience." Liam said sarcastically, watching him play with the strap, and winced visibly, looking slightly sympathetic to Ridley's plight, pushing open the door to the place. "That sucks. Boatrides and fishsticks... what were they thinking?"

Looking around the 'restaurant', Liam motioned towards the room.

"Pick a booth or we can sit at the bar. I don't mind."

"I know!" Ridley exclaimed, glad that someone understood what he had gone through on that boat.

The smell of the restaurant invoked another, angrier rumble from Ridley's middle and he slid into a booth. In another life he might have sat at the bar, but a booth seemed more... low-profile. And intimate, he realized, glancing at Liam with an inward smirk. He definitely wouldn't mind if...

"So what's good here?" he asked, putting his hands on the table and shifting in his seat.

Liam couldn't help but give Ridley a questioning look as he slid into the booth, letting it drop a moment later.

"Well from what I understand anything'll be a step up from fishsticks, huh?" Liam grinned, teasing him. "I usually get a burger, but they have steak and salads and soup as well. It's pretty diverse while still being casual."

Ridley rolled his eyes. "Hell yeah," he agreed emphatically. He nearly drooled at the mere mention of a burger and leaned out of the booth to look for their server.

"Oh man, a burger sounds so good right now," he sighed.

A waitress tipped up to take down their order and Ridley all but jumped on her, then glanced a little guiltily at Liam once he was done giving her his order. "Sorry about that, but I'm hungry!"

Liam watched as Ridley enthusiastically told the waitress what he wanted, leaning back and folding his arms across his chest and taking the time when he was distracted to look him over. Black hair, deep blue eyes, and the jacket was a nice touch.

'Quite the badass,' Liam thought to himself, rolling his eyes. Truth be told, Ridley was very attractive. And probably had girls flocking to him.

Liam blinked at Ridley, jerked out of his own thoughts, and smirked, laughing to himself. "I can see that," he replied, looking up at the waitress. "I'll just have a burger and some strawberry soda please."

"It'll match your hair," Ridley said without thinking, then blinked, grinning at him.

The waitress gave Ridley a weird look, then perked up again. "All right boys, I'll be back with your drinks," she winked, sashaying off towards the back of the restaurant.

"So Liam..." he began as she left them alone. "I know the Nidoran isn't yours, but do you have any Pokemon?"

PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2008 10:15 am

Liam gave him a flat look, wrinkling his nose. "Funny." he half growled, rolling his eyes and trying not to grin back. "I almost hope black becomes a girly color."

Nodding to the waitress, the healer leaned back a bit in the booth, looking amused. "Well, now that we've convinced the waitress we're a gay couple..." he started, smirking, although it faded to indifference at Ridley's next words.

"I'm babysitting Elizabeth... Eli I call him... for a little girl who can't train him properly yet. But besides my little purple roommate, no, I have no pokemon of my own as of now." Quirking an eyebrow, Liam narrowed his eyes curiously. "Why?"

Ridley just laughed, though he flushed a little at Liam's next little quip, blinking at him in surprise.

"Uh..." he quirked an eyebrow, not entirely sure how to answer that, but luckily Liam moved on quickly.

"Just curious," Ridley shrugged. "You must like them if you're a healer, so I thought you might have a couple or something. I don't have any either. So much for a collector," he grinned.

Aha, he caught that flush. It was very satisfying. He couldn't help but laugh, trying to keep it sounding as good natured as possible. Wouldn't do to have an enemy, especially one such as Ridley.

Barely glancing up at the waitress as she gave them their drinks, Liam thanked her briefly, taking a sip of the pink drink. "I do like pokemon. But I've never gotten the chance to get my own." he started, playing with the straw. "As for your collecting, there's always time to start."

Ridley sucked down half of his water in the first few seconds after its delivery. "Yeah, I know. I never got to do the Pokemon journey thing though. I kind of regret that," he sighed, smiling across the table at him.

"But you, being here, getting to meet all kinds of new people... have you even left Katarina?" Ridley asked. "I mean, you've got a whole continent to explore."

PostPosted: Sat Feb 23, 2008 11:20 am

Liam watched Ridley suck down the water, giving the boy a questioning look, sipping his own drink.

"Thirsty?" he teased again, obviously amused. Really, Liam always seemed amused, but with this stranger, it seemed especially prominent. Perhaps it was just the fact that Ridley was so... strange. Normal, yet strange.

"Haven't left Katarina, although I'm sure I will eventually. Guess I've been in a slump lately. Haven't met many people yet." He replied calmly, although his blue eyes gained a slightly dulled look when he said it. "Is that what you came to do? Explore the continent?"

"Extremely," Ridley agreed, finishing off his water.

"Well, I'm sure there's tons of trainers that wouldn't mind a healer in their party. You should think about it," he encouraged, noticing the look in Liam's eyes. So he was lonely?

"I guess you could say that..." Ridley equivocated a moment later, and sipped more calmly at his water when the waitress swung by and refilled his glass. "I really just wanted to be a part of something when I left Saffron. I guess I got my wish," he shrugged.

"If it's not rude of me to say, you seem kind of bored and lonely. It's hard living in a city alone, isn't it?" Ridley asked, deliberately changing the subject.
