well, you only get four directional buttons for a keyboard. I can't imagine that's good for much aside from life simulators and 2-d action games.
(even then I've liked the Sonic ports on Mega collection as opposed to this PC pack)

WASD. You can hit WA or WD or SD or SA. Your mouse controls vision. A more precise version of left analog stick moves, right analog stick aims. Believe it or not it's also faster hence why PC gamers are able to deal with twitch shooters that are deemed too fast for consoles. Generally PC games run circles around console games as far as pacing. I mean look at PC Portal versus 360 Portal. All those speed runs didn't come from the 360 version.

Besides, RTSs don't use the keyboard for movement so much as quick commands and chatting. Theoretically you can play entire games with out ever touching a keyboard limiting yourself to left click, right click, scroll wheel.

It's games like Devil May Cry that PCs break down.

Edit:: In case you missed the point about WASD movement. You're suggesting that it would be hard to express movement and control through four keys. Yet taking a cross platform example, TF2 on PC v. 360/PS3. PC players move way faster and with more control typically.

Okay. Faster. I don't see how he has more control. He falls off a cliff and is staying at a spawn point to kill people. (while he's a scout)

Okay. 360 version.
At 5:39 he changes into a scout and doesn't have any problem getting around. Then, at 6:39 he chases a guy with a bat while avoiding being shot.

I'm all for consoles, but I have points for both sides.

The PC, with the mouse, can give players better and faster reactions. Tangocat, if you play TF2, you probably know that snipers don't work well in the frontlines SNIPING. I assume that they can move fast and aim quick on the PC. The consoles can't wheel around as fast as PCs can: just move the mouse right or left a few inches, or hold the stick down for a second, then release. Depending on your speed of moving the mouse, turning around can be pretty damn fast.

PC can hold a max of 24 players, apparently (PC video), while consoles can only max at 16. Not so many players, but also almost no chance of a hacker in the game, at least I think so. Can only have TF2 up and running, no?

PC only walks at one speed, while consoles (now I haven't tested this yet, but maybe) we can inch forward, or go full run, depending on how far we press forward. Well actually, maybe TF2 PC has that 'walk' button where you press it and a movement button, and you go at 'walking' speed. I dunno.

That's all I can think of. But I think consoles are better.

@ Nter: Dude, no. No way. I don't think so.

Medal of Honor: Heroes 2 can hold 32 people. In fact, they're putting Maple Story, an MMO, is going on the DS.

I think that came out wrong, or maybe I'm just paranoid. Do you know what it sounded like you were insinuating?
I'm not saying everyone else is too stupid to play RTSs, it's just that the games seem more geared toward them since most are on the PC. And as we all know the PC almost literally needs hardcore gamers to stay alive.

And that isn't necessarily a bad thing. The RTS genre has a lot of gems.

Actually, the time you said it, it sounded like you were saying I wasn't hardcore enough. Glad that's cleared up. >.>
It's not like Consoles are deprived of excellent online RTSs, either though. We have them, they work, and they have controllers. I am pleased........ with BWii.

You'd be a converted PC gamer if you played a six hour game of Sins of a Solar Empire with four other people, just to have someone leave so we save our match and plan to continue it at a later date.

Probably not.
You don't know Sins then. Banding together and bribing pirates to Zerg rush someone while we're working through our tech trees is bliss.
