"Um... swimming." ...But it didn't sound as funny out loud as it had in her head- probably because it was still throbbing. "I was just trying to depress...myself. Nothing like doing something you hate to make you feel good and terrible." A part of her knew she wasn't making any sense- but another, quickly 'winning' part didn't care- because it was slowly taking over her facilities with a fuzzy haze.

"I'm... Emelyn, by the way," She said, trying to push the haze away.

Sabin's brow knit at the jumbled words that made sense only if they were thought about sideways and kind of twisted around. She was fading in and out - he needed to get her to the complex soon. Pressing the gas petal a little harder, the jeep rumbled down the road as the large facility loomed up before him.

"I'm sorry, I should have introduced myself sooner. I'm Sabin ... Sabin Duvert. We're almost to the laboratory - just hold in there, and keep talking to me. I know you're probably tired, but don't go to sleep!"
He sped through the opening gate and slid into a parking space close to the main doors.

She only partially registered that they''d parked. "Mm... I couldn't sleep. I never go to sleep so late. Early. Whatever it is." She realized she wasn''t making any sense whatsover, and it frustrated her. "I'm sorry," she said, rubbing away the rain that was falling in her eyes with delicate fingers.

He turned off the ignition and slid out of the driver's seat, going around to the back. "It's fine" He said in a comforting voice. "We're there now. I'm just going to carry you into the lobby, and then I'm sure the doctor will see you straight away."

Picking her up again, he closed the door to the jeep with his foot and carried her through the doors that slid open automatically when he drew close.

Walking over to a desk that sat in the middle of a plush waiting-room-like lobby, he shifted her weight a little bit to free up a hand and reached behind the desk to grab a small handheld radio. Flipping a button with his thumb, he brought it to his mouth.

"Hello? Doctor? It's Sabin - I just found someone in sector 97 - a young woman. It looks like she got caught in the storm and washed ashore, and is in need of medical attention."

A female voice responded. "This is Dr. Lockheart. Moreu is busy, I'm taking all his communications. What kind of medical attention? Uh, I mean.. first aide or do I need to contact Mr. Brodstrom?"

Sabin glanced down to Emelyn and swallowed. "Well, Can you deal with a concussion, Dr. Lockheart? And..." He almost hesitated "The immunizations of course." He stressed the "Doctor" - more for Emelyn's benefit than trying to harangue Aubrey.

"I'm going to go ahead and bring her up to the 8th floor exam room. I'll meet you there."

"Okay, Mr. Sabin, I'll meet you there. I'll contact the doctor in the meantime."

The words floated down to Emelyn- she didn't seem to be understanding much more with time- if anything, she was much less coherent than she'd originally been on the beach- but the word 'immunizations' did strike her ear.

"No... I'm all up to date on my shots. Even damn Monkey Pox." She said, muttering afterwards "Who gets Monkey Pox..." before falling silent again. Going to school all over the world had caused her to fall victim to every immunization requirement known to man- by now, she was a practical walking dead virus machine. Or, rather, at the moment... a carried dead virus machine.

Sabin turned back to Emelyn. "I'm going to take you upstairs to the doctor's office now. Dr. Lockheart is a competent doctor" Well, Sabin added mentally, she at least studied basic physiology enough to deal with a concussion. Not that there was a great deal to do with a concussion patient from his recollection.

"And we'll let her discuss with you about the immunizations" he added, wiping his hands of dealing with that. He carried her into the elevator and spoke aloud the directions to take them to the 8th floor, at which it whisked them upwards, pinging softly as the doors slid back open to a sterile hospital room.

He carried her in and set her gently on a metal wrapped-with-paper table and looked around, his eyes straying to a locked, handle-less cabinet.

The sterile room didn't afford much to look at- especially from her vantage point, staring up at the ceiling with an already foggy disposition- so Em closed her eyes, drawing her arm up over her eyes to block out the brightness of the overhead light. For the moment, she'd entirely forgotten about her ...visually accessible shirt.

"This table isn't as comfortable as it looks..." she said, again believing that the statement sounded funnier marching about in her own head than out in the open.

A tall, friendly looking woman came in, folding a pile of papers, files, and a clipboard. She wore a labcoat over a ridiculously cute baby tee and a red skirt. Sabin knew she was generally a chipper individual, but at this moment she looked positively giddy.

"Hello there, Mr. Sabin," she said sunnily, adjusting the glasses on her face. Without waiting for a response she went over to the lady on the table. "Hello there!" She helped her into a sitting position, pulled a penlight from her labcaot pocket, shining it in each eye, watching for dialation. "Do you know your name, hun?"

Em recoiled from the light, but willed her eyes to stay open- more out of the vague recollection that she shouldn't fall asleep, than out of cooperation for this new woman.

"Emelyn." She said, blinking away the two light-remnants that danced in her eyes. "White. That's my... last name, I mean."

Sabin nodded to Aubrey as she entered and stepped aside. Had Aubrey ever handled this before? He wasn't sure, but he did know that she was supposedly second only to Moreau himself - and if she was here than something really must have captured his attention. And for him to not personally greet a new "subject' meant that that something must be quite interesting... or pressing. Perhaps there had been some negative side effect of the storm.

Sabin also had doubts to just how much Aubrey was really aware of exactly what Moreau was doing on the Island, despite her access to everything. Perhaps it was her way of coping with it, but she never seemed to quite catch the full repercussions of some of the situations.... He just hoped that she didn't inadvertantly scare some of the subjects prematurely.... then again.... he shook his head quickly. No, this early could result in problems that they really didn't need.

Aubrey scribbled her name down on the clipboard. "Well, Miss Emelyn, my name is Dr. Aubrey Lockheart, but you can call me Aubrey. We're going to take care of you here.'

She pulled a rather thick file from her baord. The front page had "Fereal Laboratories - TOP SECRET" and the logo. Aubrey flipped towards near the end of the document. "In order to treat you," she said, turning the file over so it was rightside up to Emelyn, "we need you to sign here. This is your standard medical release form for coming to the island, and it details our Security and Confidentiality Code. You can get a copy of this later, I'm sure you don't feel up to reading all this legal jargon anyhow."

Aubrey placed the file in her hands, reading over and pointing to the signature line and handing the woman a pen.

It was harder to grip the pen than Em thought it would be- her fingers were still cold and wrinkled from the water, and although the file sat on her other hand, the pen required muscle work to get it good and gripped. It was this distraction that led her to leave the file mostly unread- scanning over it with a fog and then scribbling out a line of what was a very tangled version of her signature. ...Somehow the second 'E' ended up crossing over the 'l'... but oh well.

"Aubrey," she said, wanting to rub at her head but still holding the file. "I may call you Audrey once or twice." She surrendered the paperwork and weakly held pen.
