Gaia's dead. A combination of both my getting older and this site generally growing into some gargantuan structure of s**t has really just turned me off. Wish I could go back to 4 or so years ago in this thing.

The Satah Travis Shroom Gaia's dead. A combination of both my getting older and this site generally growing into some gargantuan structure of s**t has really just turned me off. Wish I could go back to 4 or so years ago in this thing. I whole-heartedly agree. P: In my opinion, Gaia is just trying to become another Myspace or Facebook or YouTube. It seems like Gaia doesn't care about the users anymore. The mods/admins never really do much of anything anymore except post things about events and quests for stupid movies that most Gaians don't care about. All they really seem to want now is money.
And now, I give you a simple explanation of how I think this all came to be: Myspace = Popularity. Other big sites that attract Myspace users (Facebook, YouTube, etc.) = Popularity. Gaia (at the time) = Slowly gaining popularity. Popularity = Donations. Popularity = Fame. Donations = Money. Too much money and too much fame = Greed. Money, greed, and fame = Doing crazy things to mangle a perfectly good website so it becomes a Myspace wannabe site.
(I think I've been in Math class for way too long.)
Gaia's change kind of reminds me of people at my school (or any school) that want to "fit in" with the "cool" people so they can be noticed, and therefore transform into someone that is the complete opposite of who they really should be. I think that the people and websites that get noticed a lot more are the ones that stand out (like what Gaia USED to be).

Well considering I keep trying to get a handle on why Gaia's completely mangled or abandoned the plot (in the process getting the opinions from a bunch of pretty offical people), it does seem like Gaia needs the money. Given, this is because they keep making server-eating features that really don't need to be there, that they don't want to take away because it'll remove their so called popularity, but you can't deny that Gaia is now a business, and therefore now needs to make an income. This means that they've industrisized everything on the site, and is probably why I continue to not find a trace of personality gracing any of the new stuff. D: There are a lot of people on Gaia that care about the old stuff, but because Gaia has stopped trying to advertise to the geekier crowd, the new people don't know about it, or think it's stupid, or don't want it. Therefore, a large majority of people on Gaia don't want it to be like it always has. They want a new hangout that's more alike the things they frequented before coming onto Gaia. The old people, or the people that wish the site could go back are a minority, even though their opinion should technictly count more. They're more likely to stay on for longer then a couple months, and to, you know, be more dedicated to the site. They're the ones that are going to donate 20 bucks a month, and buy things from the cash shop. The only problem is, Gaia's taking an opinion even from those people who came directly from a social network, and have never been on a forum in their lives, and all those people who might only stay on for a month.

shok: x_x Exactly that. It's like... I love the concept of the mall thing, you know? And the quest thing where you get to walk around and talk to a whole bunch of people? But... why MTV, dude? Why not... Gaiamall!! or whatever. I dunno. I agree with your whole post. xD

Gaia, like GameFAQs, has sold out almost completely. No, I do not want a bullshit announcement about the newest items to appease idiots.
...in other news, this is the first time in a year or so that I decided to post here. Meh, I'm bored and should be doing SS11 work, but I lack motivation at the moment. Not like any of you remember me, though I'm likely not the person most of you remember anymore.
Fact stands that I still am considered among the ranks of "Gods of the ED." Though, I've found myself shifting more towards /b/ and meme use and what not. I will say now - there is a difference between "person who uses Gaia" and "gaiafag." Gaiafags are the idiot majority here who, like Shok said, have likely never used a forum before. Of course, that doesn't mean that places like Slots or Chatterbox have changed any - there's just more people with the same general objectives in mind.
Gaiafags are also very good for lulz extraction. The BAWWWing is a bit loud though. Yeah...see how much 7chan has affected me?

Duh, I remember you Setar. :0 Hiyaz.
Hahaha. 4chan. xD It's hilarious how, despite that I'm not a 4channer (yet somehow know way too much about it?), I was the only one out of my 50 billion 4chan friends that went to the Feb 11th chanology protest.

The CoS where I live is in a slummy area, and despite how I said I and everyone else would have covered faces, my aunt and grandma were all like "NO NO THEY'LL FIND YOU AND HARRASS YOU" -.-
