Continuing to graze on the grass, Flicka suddenly let out a small yelp of pain as the foal kicked her. Nipping at her stomach a few times to settle it down, she snorted and stomped the ground a few times. "ugh.....I wish you were already out kid.....your such a pain....." Flicka said while lowering her head and beginning to graze once again.

Epona layed down feeling tired but when the foal kicked again Epona got right back up. She whinnied in pain before she settled down again. The foal began to kick and kick. Epona layed her head down in the grass and in a couple of minutes the foal was out. It was a filly. The little filly opened it's gooey brown eyes and looked up at her mother. Epona smiled and nuzzled her filly and cleaned off some of the blood before she got up and walked a few steps before dropping her head to graze. The little filly watched her dam go and tried to get up to folllow. She fell the first time but then her wabbley legs had gotten up and the filly trotted over to her dam. She began to nurse. Epona looked at her filly. "I'll call you Blue Moon little one." Epona snorted. Then she went back to grazing.

Flicka looked over as Epona gave birth to her first foal, a little filly at that. Nickering she walked over to greet the new young filly, sniffing her over and licking in some certain spots to dry her off from the afterbirth. "well congratulations Epona......what have you decided to name the little one?" Flicka asked while grooming the filly.

Epona smiled and looked up at Flicka. "Thank you. Blue Moon is her name." Epona nickered. Blue Moon looked up from nursing from her dam and looked att Flicka who was grooming her. She didn't know what Flicka was doing but if felt realaxing so she just let it past by.

Once Flicka was finished grooming Blue Moon, she turned her attention to Epona who was grazing. "you know.....if I hadn't cleaned off the blood and afterbirth.....predators would have come by and killed your foal Epona......your maternal instincts should have kicked in....." Flicka snorted angrily before trotting away and grazing again herself.

Epona snorted. She nuzzled Blue Moon who now was back nursing. Epona sighed and went back to grazing. Flicka was right. It was true what she said. Epona bit herself. She was stupid to not clean Blue Moon after birth. She geussed she hadn't had a foal in along time she forgot...

Arina watches the others, I hope I'll know to clean my foal off when it is born, she thought worriedly, she had never had a foal before, adn she was nervous. She felt the foal kick and reached around to rub her head on her large stomach.

Epona watched her filly nurse. She bended down to nibble on the grass. She wasen't that hungry so she just took little bits.

Flicka snorted softly as she turned her head and nudged her stomach, which made her foal kick and she whinnied sharply before nipping. "you sure are going to be a stubborn one aren't you?" She soon returned to grazing, her tail swishing and flicking away the pesky flies that were hanging around her and the herd.

Epona whinnied as a fly tried to suck Blue Moon's blood. Epona swished the flie away before returning to graze, taking little bites.

Digre snorted he had been standing guard all night and hadn't got a wink of sleep. Now that the mares were awake he could rejoin the herd and leave most of the watching to Hildago. He saw Epona with the new foal but he would let the mare introduce them. He turned his attention to Flicka, nickering softly as he approached. "Flicka, my dear, how are you this morning? The foal giving you any trouble?"

Arina walked closer to the herd to graze. She felt the foal kick again, harder this time, and winced. She raised her head and then lowered it to graze, feeling the foal kick again, still hard, but she ignored it.

Epona lifted her head from grazing, and looked over to Arina. She smiled lightly. All of a sudden their was a gun shot close by and horse whinning. Epona who was back grazing lifted her head once again, alert of the noise. She slowly pinned her ears back and stood protectivly over Blue Moon, baring her sharp teeth towards the sound, her ears against her skull looking like she had no ears.
Blue Moon who was nursing pulled away from her dam, when she heard the noise. Her ears perecked foreward, milk dropping from her soft glossy muzzle. Blue Moon was courise, but also scared of this noise.

Arina's head snapped up at the sound of the gunshot followed by the whinny of the horse. She kept her ears alert and looked over to Digre to see what to do.

Upon hearing Dirge's voice, Flicka snorted happily while nuzzling him lovingly and nickering. "oh nothing but the usual kicks and turns every once in a while....." Flicka was suddenly alerted by the sound of a gun shot in the distance and perked her ears up. listening closely. "Dirge.....we have to get moving now...." Flicka said snorting in fear as she trotted over to round up the mares and foals. "Come on everyone....I know of a quiet place to continue grazing for a few days....hurry!!" Flicka then headed off in the lead, galloping quite fast.
