Chale had effectively, without all conventions of the English language, popped the proverbial bubble that was Simon's inflated ego with that last dis-joined sentence.
He sighed and sunk his shoulders, crossing his arms and looking back out to the ocean.
"You make me sad Chale, you make me a very sad man indeed. But I can forgive you, perhaps over a bottle of rum once the brigand returns and rescues us." Simon replied with an airy sigh, turning once more to face the ocean and watch the ship with the faithfulness of an old Labrador.

Wait.
"Were you not just saying that if we were on the ship it would be bad? We have to share treasures."
He wasn't an easily confused man, for the most part, but Chale also found Simon to contradict himself a lot of the time. Whether it was because he did it to get what he wanted or always be in the right -or if he was just plain stupid- escaped the Spaniard, but it was one of the things in the great wide world that genuinely did confuse him.

Simon turned to him with all the patience of a barely legal mother scolding a toddler. "No. If we found the treasure together, that would be bad. We could ferret it away on the ship. Honestly Chale." He finished with a huff, shaking his head and tapping a little foot impatiently.
Come onnnn boat....

The larger man allowed Simon to have his air of superiority for the time being, his attention having shifted back the large vessel that was getting further and further away from them.
"I am hoping you did not leave value-ibles on the ship."
The ship gave no indication what so ever of turning about. So far it had sailed in a beeline out into the great blue and it appeared that it was going to stay that way.

Simon was starting to notice this as well, and it bothered him.
"No, I did not leave valuables on the bloody ship. But it wouldn't matter since the ship is com-... they set sail..." His jaw dropped, watching as the plumy white sails of the ship are hoisted to their full mass.
"WE'RE DOOMED."

If the situation hadn't have affected him as well, Chale probably would have laughed. Soundly. One of those loud, belting kind of laughs that let you know when you're very, very wrong.
But he didn't becase he was affected.
"What do we do now? We are stuck on a heap of sand and leaves! No food! No water!"

"W-what?! Of course we have food and water! It's an island with mayans, they must get their food and water from somewhere!" He groaned, rubbing his brow, "We just have to find it."
He looked up at his tall friend, back at the ship that had abandoned them, and gave a high and irritated 'hmpf!' as he turned on a heel and made for the forest.

Ah yes. They'd have food wouldn't they? Not real food though. No succulent joins of salted pork, deliciously spicy broths, candied fruits, duck, plums, pear, boar (well they might have boar) quinces, chicken straight off the bone-
No, they wouldn't have any of that. Just twigs and...berries.
That's what Chale reckoned anyway. And of course there would be water, but there would be no Rum, no Port, no alcoholic beverage of any sorts to console him.
This truly was a grim situation.
"Where are you going?" He yelled after Simon, who had now vanished off somewhere in the undergrowth of the jungle.

"Shelter, luv." Came his reply, "Shelter, and that food and water we were talking about, I think I saw some papayas back along the trail."
He looked behind him, waiting for his large angry friend to follow. His mind was still working on the whole 'you are now trapped on a very hot, uncivilized island populated by angry natives, and host to a multitude of equally angry insects who would like to lay their eggs in you' thing.
Right now he just wanted to have a sit down, waking up early to get out here had been a strenuous task, and he was ready for a nap.

Chale rolled his eyes and reluctantly followed Simon along the trail they had made. Normally, he would have been up for a bit of an adventure but, considering the situation at hand, he was in no mood to go galavanting about when:
A) They had no equipment, a bare minimum resources and not a safe place to stay whilst danger lurked behind ever bush.
and
B) There was no certainty of actually finding any treasure. For all they knew they had been on a wild goose chase wth these so called 'Idols'.
"Bah..." he muttered under his breath.

"Bah, yourself" Replied the shorter man testily, waiting for him to catch up before continuing on.
"Hmmm... shelterrr..." he thought aloud, as he often did, so that others may see the brilliance of his ways. "Well, judging by the humidity in the air, we can be expecting some precipitation later on in the day, so I say we find somethingggg.... caveish." He mused, turning to Chale.
"Doubloon for your thoughts?"

"Stop speaking with the words I do not understand. What does precy-pie-tasion even mean?"
He could guess it had something to with the weather, but what was another thing. Sometimes he just really wished his friend would speak normal English. Or not speak at all, for that matter.
"And how do we know if there is caves here anyway? All I see are trees."

"It means 'rain' you simpleton, you know lluvia? And because these native buffoons must live somewhere, I'm unable to believe they're able to craft anything much better then spears! Hmpf!" He sneered, rolled his eyes, the air of superiority in his voice so thick it's practically dripping off his tongue.

"Then why not say 'rain' instead of long word that makes no sense?"
Chale gave his friend a displeased glance. If it was going to rain then not only would they be hungry and overheated but wet too. Something about the whole prospect reeked of discomfort to the burely Spaniard.
"At least they have weapons. We have nothing but pocket knives and bare fists." He balled his hands into fists just to emphasise the point.

"Because simply saying rain is vauge and doesn't include a chance for hail or anything else for that matter!" Replied the Brit, pushing his fist away, his hands almost half as big as his taller friend.
"And put that thing away! Jeeze, you could hurt someone with that!" He shook his head up at him. "Honestly, you need to watch where you point those wrecking balls of yours, you could hurt somebody." He finished, with a brief chuckle at his own joke.
