{Log 1;; Arrival}

Translucent purple wedges stormed across the tiled floor as their owner prepared to wage war, a piece of paper clenched tightly in her fist. This was ridiculous! She'd clearly stepped back from the scientific community upon opening her shop, and then they sent her this! Lips painted in a shocking color of fluorescent green twisted into a frown as she mindlessly followed the directions she'd been given at the receptionist desk, the rest of her features settling into place to make the slightly tanned face a fierce sight to behold. Not that Marlene wasn't a sight on any given day as it was - though the girl gave a particularly stunning visage today as the asymmetrical hemline of her skirt flew behind her, flashing bits and pieces of the shorts beneath. Finally, she met the unfortunate object of her rage - a woman in a lab coat, patiently writing on her clip board. Her head lifted, and she met the livid stare with her own, rather blank, one.

"You're late, Miss Phelps," she informed crisply, turning completely and raising a hand to silence the oncoming blast of words. "Really. I don't have much time to spend with you talking about this - I have other prospective guardians to be seeing." She worked quickly, pulling a folder from within her jacket and thrusting it into the other woman's grasp, which only took hold after a few moments of pointless grappling.

"I don't want to be part of your experiments," Marlene replied poutily, turning the folder over in her hands before curiously popping it open and rifling through the papers. "I don't want to be part of anyone's experiments - I could have conducted my own if I'd wanted to do something like that," she continued, eyes skimming the words blandly, pausing for a moment as a few choice descriptors popped out at her. "..Hybrid? Angelic... Demoni-..?" A sharp intake of breath followed, and she all but threw the folder down. "Oh no. No, no, no. You're either pulling my leg, or you're f-"

"Please, Miss Phelps. Mind your language around the child." For suddenly, there was a child there, Marlene realized - though it wasn't human by any stretch of the word. "This is Chloris. She's the result of a bonding between a representative of Gluttony and Diligence. We've entrusted you into her care on the basis that you have some basic concept of the science behind her being and can keep good enough notes to be of value." But Marlene was barely paying attention, watching in a mix of astonishment and horror as the little nightmare - Chloris - toddled swiftly about, collecting the scattered papers and handing them back to her new caretaker.

Reluctantly, she accepted the packet, her eyes drifting from the sweet smile and downwards, pausing on a bit of paper sticking from the second mouth embedded in the girl's abdomen. "...Ah.. Ch- ..Chol... Lori?"

The visible blue eye lit, receptive and cheerful. "Yes?"

"What... Ah.. What are you eating?" The hybrid paused, touching her mouth before glancing down, her lips forming a small 'o' before she reached, tugging the shimmery bit of white from the second set of lips - which reached after with a flexible pink tongue. The paper - a picture, Marlene noted - seemed to have seen better days, as there was only one remaining corner and half of it had been worn away. All the same, she carefully reached to take it, brows shooting upwards as she noted what it was - half of a family portrait from her college graduation, her parents heads both dissolved and part of her own then-orange head gone with them.

"..Oh," she mumbled faintly, glancing up to question the scientist responsible only to discover her missing. Her lips screwed into a frown once more before she sighed, shifting the folder under one arm. "So. Do you mind if I call you Lori?" A negative shake of the purple head. "Alright. Well, Lori, I guess I'm going to be taking care of you for a while. My name is-"

A small green hand was held up to stop her, and Chloris smiled toothily - an expression eerily mirrored by the mouth beneath. "You're mummy," the child replied in a sweet coo that made the shop owner's blood run cold. Marlene gulped, weakly attempting to smile back. ..What had she stumbled into?

{Log 2;; Teach Me}

Quote:
February 23rd, 2008

Lori has been living here for a week or so now. It's odd, supporting another living creature - it's even odder supporting something like her. I can't say she's a bad charge - she's sweet and helpful, always eager to do something. Almost too eager at times. The only problem is her constant need to ea

"Whatcha doooin'?" The small, higher pitched voice snapped Marlene from her thoughts and sent the blue jelly roll pen she'd been scribbling into her diary with skidding across the page.

"Lori! Don't scare me like that!" She hissed, eying the damage before biting her lip and looking down into the uncovered blue eye. The child merely giggled in response, green lips stretching wide with a grin that flashed her tiny fangs.

"So-wwy~" She dragged the mutilated word out, changing its meaning entirely. Marlene sighed, watching the child fidget with the loose jeans unbuttoned around her hips - under the second mouth that had chewed through the multitude of other fabrics and buttons that had overlapped its lips. The woman hadn't had the guts to try a shirt on the girl just yet - grateful that she could still pass as a little boy for the time being.

A small hand landed on one thigh, snapping her from her thoughts as she turned to watch the tiny digits slide from the fluorescent pink, plastic over skirt before finding better purchase and pulling herself up with a helpful flap of her metal rimmed wings. Marlene pursed her lips, but otherwise made room for the small creature, wrapping one arm around the slender hips to keep her steady.

The girl placed her hands on the edge of the table, peering over the journal curiously. "What's that?" She blinked, reaching out to touch the pages and squinting at the words. "The lady back there," Marlene's eyes narrowed, knowing her new 'daughter' meant the lab/church, "made these sort of marks too. All the time."

"..You mean the words?"

"Yeah! But those were different!"

"Well, that's because there are many different words - all made up by a combination of different letters. It's a visible, physical way of representing the different sounds we make to make words." A pause, and she glanced down into the little creation's full, rapt attention. "They didn't teach you to read?" A negative shake of the head. "..Can you count?" Again, no.

The green painted lips pursed once more, rubbing away a bit of the brilliant pigment. "Tch. Typical. We'll have to fix that," she mumbled, flipping to a fresh page of her journal and marking down the alphabet, and underneath the numbers 0-10. "We'll start here," she instructed, tapping her pen against the top row. "The English alphabet."

Several minutes were devoted to it before they shifted to the numbers. About halfway through this lesson, however, something warm and slimy touched against Marlene's arm.

Cholris giggled, looking up from the journal. "Mummy tastes like soap," she announced sweetly.

It would be on a Saturday that you open your mail box (if you have one) and notice there is a rather thick envelope stuffed in there. There is no postage stamp and a very vague return address. But you recognize the font and the company's name. 'Seven of Seven Inc' scrawled in majestic font across the upper left hand corner. As you open it, you may strangely find yourself drawn to the letter, there is a mass of notes inside. They read as follows:

Letter
Congratulations! You have managed to succeed in raising your child. (IE: Not killing him or her or getting killed yourself. Haha we kid of course.) We would like an update from you on the following:

Guardians Name:
Child's Name:
Sin:
Virtue:
Gender:
Current Attitude:
Likes:
Dislikes:
Any abnormal growths: (if any, example: Feathers molting, horns growing larger, scars )
Current hair style:
Current clothing preferences:
Dominant celestial trait: (The sin or virtue)

Please summarize in your own words how difficult or easy it was taking care of your child. Did you manage to care for them in a kindly fashion? Or were you forced to discipline them?
As well do not be alarmed if you suddenly find your child achieving a massive growth spurt in the next little while. We are finding that the children from our facility have strange growing patterns and are rather unpredictable. Although please let us know if anything unexpected occurs.

Sincerely the technicians from Seven of Seven Inc.

Ps. Please just leave your letter back in your mail box one you have completed it our courier will pick it up.

Thank you.

You would notice the letter seems overly friendly...strange since the scientist were so ...cold before.

(Just take the from Guardians name to Dominant Celestial trait and pm it to the mule, the summarization doesn't have to be long just have fun with it.)

{Marlene's Log 1;; Growth}

November o4, 2008

Holy hell!
I woke up this morning, after getting that weird letter, and Lori had a growth spurt to end all growth spurts!
My tiny little green girl is now a ... bigger green girl, with a bigger appetite and.. Dammit! They could have warned that the spurt would be closer than a little while.

Ugh. That damn lab...
I also received a notice that Lori needs to come in and meet one of her 'parents'. I've been thinking about that a lot, and given the way she acts I wonder if she wouldn't be better off meeting the sin half of her genes. At the very least, it may scare her off of things if she sees what she could possibly become as a result.

We'll have to see, I guess. Anyways, it looks like I've got to take Lori shopping for new clothes. Hopefully ones that won't get eaten.

Scrap dated November 30th

- Lori now has a small wardrobe full of clothing that doesn't restrict her stomach. I'm not sure what I'm going to do about winter clothing as it gets colder across Gaia, but we'll have to see.
- I ought Lori a journal of her own, to practice writing on her own as well as give her a space all of her own to write about.. whatever she wants. Independence is good.
-Starting the switch over in the store goods to ones with a more Yule feeling about them. Note to self, start holiday shopping.

{Log 3;; Teeth}

"Ow!"

The shout woke Marlene from her peaceful dreams of the yule holiday. The muffled thump and repeated utterances of 'ow ow ow' made her sit upright, ruffled blue violet hair standing on end and gray eyes blinking rapidly to clear the fog of sleep.

"Lori?" The woman called into the small apartment over the occult shop, frowning and making to get out of bed, sliding her feet into the fur-lined pvc slippers waiting for her and moving to step towards her ward's room, pushing open the door and arching a brow at the sight she saw.

The green girl was leaning over a pillow, whimpering weakly and biting down on her pillow, staring at four glistening white things in her palm. Her secondary mouth hung open, tongue prodding at the empty gums.

..Wait.

"Are those your teeth?" The older woman gasped incredulously. "What happened?!"

"Dey few ouh!" Chloris whined, rubbing at the wet trails on her cheeks furiously. "Ih urrs!" She continued, wings flaring and knocking over the lamp on her bedside table. Marlene winced at the crash, moving to carefully tiptoe around the mess and lean in front of the girl, reaching to take her hand.

"Shh, shh, sweetie," she soothed, reaching to take one of the clawed hands, wincing as the sharp black nails dug into her skin before reaching to study the empty gums. "..I think you'll be fine. It's just.. time for you to grow new teeth," she mused, leaning back and frowning slightly.

"..Noo teef?" The child mumbled uncertainly, releasing the pillow and sniffling weakly. "..But I liked my old ones."

"Well, you'll like your new ones, too, I'm sure," she soothed, smiling faintly. "They'll be stronger," she continued, standing and moving to carefully slide the sharp teeth from the girl's palm into her own. "And they won't fall out anymore, either," she mused, dropping them into her robe pocket before glancing down at the shattered lamp. "Let me go get the broom, okay?"

Lori nodded, sniffling faintly before moving to head into the hall to fetch the dustpan and broom from the closet, turning to head back before returning to the room, dropping it as another sharp yelp cut the air.

"MOOOM!" Lori wailed as she spilled into the hall, missing one of the prominent fangs usually hanging over her lip. Marlene sighed, eyes squeezing to a shut and hand moving to cover her eyes. This was going to be a long night.
