"Mhmm. She's about this big now," Maelon made an approximate gesture for four inches, overestimating it by just a tad. There was no harm in exaggerating. Lyrus didn't seem the type to know how big a young Giant African Millipede would be. "She'll be about this big when she's done growing though." The dark chocolate Sin widened the distance between his fingers to ten inches. "Not too big, but big enough that it creeps people out and my guardian hates it." He didn't harass Pryderi with his bugs anymore, and thus the fact that his guardian hated it meant very little to him now. But it was still worth mentioning.
He grinned a little when Lyrus said his millipede was very nice, unable to help but feel slightly proud. Not too many people told him Duchess was 'very nice.' Most people just went 'omg you have what?' "To each his own," Maelon replied when Lyrus said that science wasn't his strength. "I couldn't do this kind of gig no matter how much you paid me. Too many people. I work at the reptile house up the street. Reptiles, bugs, spiders, that sort of thing. It's handy to be able to handle all of them without worrying about being poisoned."
Becky and flock had moved on to hang out with what appeared to be several guys from their school, thus leaving Maelon free at the bar. The dark chocolate Sin'aeis decided that this was a good time to get out of here, while Becky was at least occupied. "Seeing as they're busy, I think I'm gonna get out of here while I still can. No offense to you, but these sort of people are just urg."

That...was considerably smaller than the name 'Giant African Millipede' suggested. The second measurement was better, but the first was a bit meh. Lyrus was fairly sure he had seen a grasshopper bigger than that. But if it would get bigger, that was cool. "Giant bugs are always a good thrill factor. Is it actually dangerous at all?"
Lyrus grimaced slightly and glanced around the bar. "Eh, this place is pretty okay on the good days. It's nowhere I'd want to stay forever, but it's fun in the mean time and pays the bills. Reptile house sounds pretty entertaining though, eh? Except it's probably full of kids. ******** kids." At least they didn't have those here. That was certainly a plus side to the bar.
He watched as the Beckys wandered off, then nodded at Maelon's declaration of retreat. "None taken. Was nice talking to someone sane. I'll keep that lot from following you too soon, no worries."

"They bite," Maelon said with a small shrug, knowing that millipede bites hardly hurt. They weren't poisonous either, which was why they made perfect pets for normal people. But the dark chocolate Sin really did like his Duchess. She was a strangely affectionate bug, and having her walk up your arm always felt good in a tickly sort of way. "But nobody really knows what they are, so everyone generally freaks out a bit when you say you have a giant millipede at home." Lyrus was definitely right about the thrill factor.
The dark chocolate Sin followed Lyrus' gaze around the bar, nodding absently. "Heh, yeah the kids do come around. But we got a guy in charge of all that stuff. He handles the kids, I handle the animals. So far it's been a good deal. And the kids aren't too bad. So long as they don't scream I don't care." He still didn't like having to entertain them though. Maelon was truly lucky that J.J. was so good with kids. Otherwise they would have both been screwed.
"Nice talking to you too. And thanks; I owe you one." Maelon gave Lyrus a small smile, before beginning his slink across the bar and out the door. Freeedom!
