Path snorted in amusement. "Come on Konoha you need to lay down. Don't try telling me you're not in pain.......I know you better than that"he neighed softly. "At least lean on me as you walk"he added quietly.

Konoha snorted at Path, he could tell she was lying, after all they had know each other since her mother was captured. "I'm not going to lay down. I want to see what's up there." She looked towards the horizion, ears pricked. She tried to step foward but gave up and leaned on Path.

"Well fine. Just lean on me and we will go check it out, but afterwards we are going back to the herd and YOU are going to lay down, thats an order."Path commanded slowly walking in the direction Konoha had indicated, with her leaning against him.

Konoha nipped at his withers for the comment. She didn't like being pushed around by the stallion, but put up with it all the same. "Only if I feel like it," she mumbled and snorted. She limped slowly toward the scent of the horses, this would be harder than she thought. She tried to pick out a smooth path.

Path snorted when she tried to n** him. He had a soft spot for Konoha, well he had a soft spot for any mare, but Konoha was special. They had grown up together. He knew her better than many of tjhe other mares who were newer to the herd.

The sun blared down on them, it had been an uncannily hot start to the summer and today was no excetpion. Konoha was already coated in sweat and dust and now she was blowing heavily. She wasn't paying attention to the ground in front of her and stepped on a rock. Tossing her head she side stepped and leaned more on Path. There was a lone tree up ahead, but Konoha wasn't paying attention to it.

Path glanced up at the sun. "I can not believe it is nearly time for me to chose a mate. Its so complicated." he thought to himself tossing his head.

"Path, I've got to rest for awhile." She gently nipped at his neck, to get his attention. He seemed to be preoccupied with something. "Is something wrong?" She gave him a concered look and hobbled over to the tree.

"Ok Ok" said Jaden while dissmounting Tark and grabbed a rope and started catching Mustangs. When she got two she tied them to a tree so they wouldn't escape from them. When all of them were caught, it was lunch time for the horses. So Jaden and her father walked to feed the horses. "Good catch of Mustangs we got today" said Jaden's father. "Yeah, I hope we can keep this bunch alive with the drought" said Jaden while breathing harder than usual.

"Nothings wrong just normal stress of being the lead stallion."Path replied snorting. As they stopped to rest he sniffed the air. He could still smell that same strange smell on the wind it worried him.

"Alright men we go out after lunch to fill the rest of our quota. Right now get those horses feed and go eat." Colonel Cunningham placed feed in front of his own horse and walked over to Jaden. He put a hand on her shoulder, "Jaden your coming with us after lunch. You better be ready to go. Is that understood?"
"Right, like I believe that." Konoha pushed him with her muzzel and leaned heavily against the tree. She scented the wind still finding the smell of horses, burried under neath some other smell. "What do you think that is, that smell."

"I don't know and I don't like it. I don't trust it either "Path snorted stamping his hoof. He tossed his head to get his heavy mane out of his eyes. He sniffed the wind again trying to figure out what that strange smell was.

Konoha snorted, "I want to find out what it is. No matter that you don't trust it." She breathed in a huge gulp of air only to sneeze when it was full of dust. She twised her head and neck around and cleaned her injured leg, reveling a swollen area.

"Yes Colonel, I will be ready after lunch to help fill the quota" said Jaden while looking at her father feeding Tark. Jaden ran up to her father and helped him feed Tark. Later Jaden and her father walked to the Saloon to eat lunch. "Can I get a rootbeer and some bufallo please" said Jaden as she arived at her favorite place table to eat at. "Sure, Jaden" said the waiter who knew evreyone here.

Path stiffened suddenly. He tossed his head and neighed a war cry. A mountain lion screamed as it attacked them. Path reared up pawing the air as he struck out at the big cat. One hoof struck the mountain lion on the head knocking it unconscious. He delivered the killing blow. He looked over at Konoha. "Are you ok?"he asked snorting.
