I never considered evangelizing on gaia, but it sounds good and I agree with the application process.

Everything you just said, perhaps we'll think of more when it starts.

Yeah, but it couldn't hurt to get a good foundation down before we start either.
So lets expand on this shall we. Is there a place that we want to concentrate on first. The chatter box would be pretty easy. We can have something like a bump for Christ thread. It it the focus will be just getting the name out, but if any one has questions we will be there to answer. It would also be a fun thing to maybe to do a joint effort with other Christian guilds.

I am not sure if we should start in CB and then move out. or if we should start in towns.
serious(good for in depth evangelism):towns, most forums
could be either:games, VJ
not so serious(good for getting the word out): CB
If we start out serious then I think joinng with other christians would be a good idea and everyone can go through an application process to become leaders. if we start in CB we can still join with others but I suspect there will be many other ppl to deal with and we will often meet other christian's who disagree. we would have to keep mindful not to get caught up in religious debates but to focus on spreading the gospel.

How's this idea: In the forums people often post there problems and talk about how life is so terrible for them and such, so why not give them advice from the Bible? Perhaps we could quote verses and basically just get the message to tell them, "The only way things can be truly all right for you is if you put your faith in God."

flineagle, you make some good points. The reason why I thought CB first was the fact that we should start small first. The why I want to set up the CB topic is just something simple that everyone can agree on, getting the word out, as you said. So if we join with other groups, we should make a rule that states that that tread is just for small talk and letting everyone know that we are on fire for the lord. If a debate should start, it should be moved to the guilds, or another CB topic. This way we keep the tone of our first CB topic light and easy for anyone to participate. Once we have a bump topic like that, we can move on to a debate/further learning topic. I think its important that we take it one step at a time no matter what we choose to do though.
Aidan, I really like that idea, and that is why I mentioned the life/issues forum earlier. The only foreseeable problem is that we may not be allowed to, so I'm going to research that a bit beforehand if we have enough interest in that area.
Also, about towns/games ministries, what I see happening is finding a good way to talk about Christ to those who want to listen. It would involve a good amount of time, and might be best if we coordinate our attempts.
I like all of your ideas, I think we should be able to get something going soon if we keep this up. 3nodding

that sounds like a good plan, esp the keeping the first topic debate free. we can build from there.
does anyone know other christian guilds who we can team up with us?
maybe we can get things ready in time for easter. easter sunday is march 23rd this year, pretty early.

Thats a good idea, easter would give us enough time to plan and gather support. I'm a member of a few guilds, I can ask their help.

you know we(the guild) have been talking about this same thing for years. its a week after easter. if we're gonna move we gotta take the steps.
should we start with applications for the team? I dont want to be presumptious and say Im automatically in.
how about: posting a creed; a general 'I believe' passage or having everyone submit a personal statement of faith including a testimony.
Im praying about this. Theres no reason why we cant be the body of Christ on gaia and move in posting. and theres a topic about this in the bible study forum under the heading of "gaiaonline"

That is a good idea. We should think about that. I've just been swamped with so many things I haven't had too much time to devote to Gaia recently. So lets go ahead and start forming a mission statement, creed, application form and anything else we might need.
So lets start with a mission statement, what do we want to accomplish with this?

well this is from the gaiaonline thread in the bible study subforum sean.net I wish I could bump this thread into dust! I think that if Jesus were living on earth today, the Great Commission would say something like this: Quote: Matthew 28:18-20 (Gaia Online Version) Then Jesus posted to them with a literacy unknown to his disciples, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and in Gaia. Go, guys, and make disciples of all forums, *baptizing them* in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, posting to them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of GaiaOnline." I meant that in no way to be offensive. But I do feel strongly about witnessing on Gaia. We, as Christians, don't need a one-day trip to the forums to tell people that Christ loves them, we need a battleplan to go and take the forums EVERY day, and reach the lost for Christ. Did you know that 90% of people who come to know Christ do so before the age of 20? After 20, people are pretty much set in how they will live their lives as far as their heart for Jesus. There is a window of time that we have to reach people, and Gaia may very well be the best place on earth for us to reach people in that window. We have to get out to the forums and be hardcore for Jesus every single day, Hooah? I think we could build off the great commision or off Matthew 5:14-16 "you are the light of the world. a city that is set on a hill canot be hidden. neither do they light a lamp and put it under a bushel but on a candlestick and it giveth light to all who are in the house. let your light so shine before men that they may see your good works and glorify your Father which art in heaven." (Gaia Online Version) you are the light of Gaia. a forum topic that is rated to the top cannot be ignored. neither do they purchase a quested item and place it in their inventory but they equip it and it is seen by all who are online. let your light so shine before gaians that they may see your good posts and glorify your Father which art in heaven.

...Honestly, CB is going to be the hardest place to start something like this. Within ten seconds of posting a Christ-oriented thread, you're liable to have every troll on the CB inundating the thread with troll-age of varying degrees of offensivity...offensiveness...offensitoscity...yeah, anyhows. Trolls abound, we ought to start else where and wait till the whole thing is much stronger to approach the CB.
