"Oooooh pretty!" Polly said, reaching out to touch her hair. "I got feathers," she said, nodding. Having special hair was a great thing.
"Oh, I hope so," Gwen said a bit too emotionally. "She's taken to chasing my pet cats around with the water squirter I used for her cabbage. And if I turn my back for a moment she's stripped completely." She sighed, showing her tension over the situation.

"Like Ranza!" nodded Orli, hair bobbing everywhere. It seemed to float a bit longer than the laws of physics should have allowed. "She's my sister," the little girl added conspiratorially. "She's a pirate."
Orli didn't quite understand that Ranza was a pirate in the same manner Nahuel was a super hero, but it made for good conversation.
"Cabbage?" asked Eshaa, her train of thought completely derailed. "She came from a cabbage?"
Did that mean children coming from cabbages was a totally normal phenomenon that she should have been aware of?

"Yes, actually," Gwen said. "Trust me, it seemed strange to me, as well."
"Pirate!" Polly cheered. "Pirate, pirate, pirate!! Like pirates! Gator boy pirate!" she added, speaking of her stuffed toy.

Orli had never really taken time to give herself an occupational label. She figured she'd just come up with one someday. "Who's gator boy?" she asked.
"Oh," nodded Eshaa. "So, would you happen to know who goes around giving out cabbages that pop out kids?" She was dying to know who she should contact about her latest charge. Other than Dr. Jones, of course, who had just sort of thrown the thing at her.

"It's a laboratory, here, I think I have something like a card--" Gwen dug through her oversized purse, pulling out the card and offering it to the other female. "They have a daycare, too, if you're looking. As well as a school up to High school or college level, I can't remember," she said.
"Gator boy stuffed!" Polly said. "He went to machine and machine shoved white stuff up his bum."

Orli, who didn't quite understand the concept of build-a-bear, frowned. "Did it hurt him?" she asked, eyes wide.
Eshaa took the card and looked at it before tucking it into her own, rather small by comparison, purse. "Thank you!" she said gratefully. "I probably would have never figured that out on my own." Nahuel was in public school, but a daycare for Ranza and Orli would be nice. She'd have to find out if they took siblings or only children associated directly with them.

"Naw," Polly said. "He tough! And cuddly!" she added, even though it was a definite contradiction in terms. "Then I dress him in pirate clothes! He sleep with me," she added with a nod.
"It's not a problem," Gwen said. "Some of the children there are very strange, though, I should warn you. There's one child with two voices who walks like a gorilla."
"Chris!" Polly said gleefully. "Chris my friend!"

Eshaa gave Gwen a dubious look. "After growing up with my family, I think my definition of strange is a bit skewed." She didn't say more about it, though, as if her semi-alien features spoke for themselves.
Ohhhhh, realized Orli. So gator boy was a doll! "I have a doll, too!" she said excitedly. "He's a... a... a ewok!" Or, at least, that was what mom said he was. He looked like a bear to her.

"Whassa ewok?" Polly asked blankly. "Is scary?"
"I see," Gwen said, sighing. It was true, the other female was a bit strange looking, as well. She was just getting so overwhelmed with strangeness that she hadn't even noticed. "So, um, it looks like our girls are quite fond of each other."

Orli made a face. "Scary? Nooooo," she said. "He's cute and soft and furry."
"Looks that way," agreed Eshaa with a smile. Though, to tell the truth, she hadn't been worried. Orli was absolutely the most non-confrontational child known to man.

"That's good," Gwen said. "Polly has a bit of trouble making friends, I'm afraid." She paused. "Would you mind if we joined you as we go through the exhibit?"
"Oooh, that's good!" Polly said. "Does he sleep with you, too?"

"He does!" confirmed Orli proudly, getting to her feet and tugging on Eshaa's leg. "Moooom, I wanna go look at the stars!"
Eshaa glanced down at her daughter and laughed. Focusing back on Gwen, she answered, "No problem! It'll be fun!" She looked around the room to see if there was any indication of where the actual exhibit began. The chain of signboards and display cases to the right looked likely. "I think it starts over there."

"Then that where we go!" Polly said, standing and heading in that direction determinedly. She was off on an adventure with her new friend!
"Polly! Wait for the rest of us!" Gwen called after her, sighing and shaking her head.

Orli shrieked and took off after her new friend, a bit unsteadily at first but gaining momentum as she went. Eshaa laughed and followed both children at a good pace. Kids would be kids, after all. Why not let them enjoy it while it lasted?
