Vinaya blushed even more, but her fur was so dark it wasn't visable. "W-well...I....I..." Were there signs she was ignoring? She tried to recall to that morning, when she had awakened. He had been looking at her then, smiling at her in fact. He always seemed comfortable giving her a nuzzle or washing behind her ears...but...what if he was only being nice? They were friends, after all.

"I-I...wouldn't want to assume..." she mumbled nervously, undeniable proof that there were signs even if she was unsure about them.

"Oohhh, c'mon! You should assume some things. If you can't assume anything, then it's sort of like you wouldn't trust him, either! Right?" She paused for a moment, hoping that the words would sink in to her mind.

"Well, I mean, after you two are together, if you can't assume that he loves you even then, then what's the point of hoping?" She hoped that she wasn't being too harsh, but she wanted her to see what she meant. She just hoped she was explaining it in the right manner. "Assuming isn't always a bad thing, especially if it's for something so positive, like love."

What she said made sense...and Vinaya was smart enough to see it. But she had always been a conflicted lioness, one that knew one thing in her mind and felt another in her heart. Maybe she was just being too worrisome. But she wasn't sure she could bare it, if he really didn't love her and was only being nice. It would break her heart, she knew. And that little bit of doubt held her back.

"I...I see what you mean," she murmured, feeling a little ashamed at her weakness, "I suppose I'm just afraid. I guess I'd rather...act as if I didn't know then be proven wrong."

Latifu's head cocked to the side again as she watched Vinaya's face. It seemed...not too pleased. Wanting, but not at the same time. Hmmm. A piece of it reminded her of Bakari, if only for one factor. One that he sort of came over, but still fell into some times.

"So, you want him to tell you first before you tell him? Which means...you want him to take the initiative in all this?" she asked bluntly.

Vinaya jerked her head back slightly, affronted at the suggestion. She was ashamed a bit offended, but it was Latifu's fault. This elder lioness only said what she saw. It was al her own doing and the only one she could blame was herself. "I...I..." she protested, but she wasn't able to think of an excuse. Was that really all she was capable of: excuses? She sighed, looking at the ground in apparent defeat, "I don't know. I'm so...confused." What should she do?

Latifu cracked a grin. Weeeell. She could admit that she was confused, too, and was probably only making the purple lioness more unsure about herself. Obviously she hadn't had to go through this with her own children, so she was grasping at nothing but air.

"Well, I can guess that," she commented, letting her eyes scan over Vinaya again. "But perhaps you're just going to have to believe, and see what times gives you? There's no use in worrying about it so much that your fur will fall out, certainy! If that happened, then your situation with him might change," she laughed, trying to lighten up the so-serious lioness.

"I suppose you're right..." Vinaya murmured, slightly comforted by the kind words even if they were only meant to make her feel better. Letting it go was rather difficult, though. She had always been a bit self-concious, even if it was undeserved. Looking at Latifu she asked, sliding one ear slowly forward and asked for a last bit of advice, "Latifu...what would you do?" She had more experience and wisdom...and even if she couldn't follow through with the advice the teal lioness gave her, Vinaya wanted to hear it.

Hmm. What would she do? She took a moment to think about it, as she wanted to reply in a good way, but being truthful at the same time.

"Well, I think that I'd stick with my position," she started out slowly. "I mean, you are a bit stuck in your position, no matter what, right?" She offered a sympathetic smile. "But I would put my faith in that we would be happy together. If there's no faith, then there's no hope, really. I swear, I went out on a huge chance when I decided to be with Bakari, but I still don't regret it."

She paused for a moment before adding on something. "Besides. If he doesn't love you today, he could love you tomorrow."

At the older lioness's words she let out a deep breath forcing herself to relax. She was right, after all. There was always hope...until the moment he told her absolutely never. And yet, as much as she might fear it, she couldn't see it ever actually happening. Not from Upe. She smiled a little, looking a little better and rather grateful.

"Thank you so much," she breathed. She then reluctantly cast a glance behind her. How long had she been gone? "I'd best go," she said apollogetically, "I don't want to miss any of my lessons." As she turned to leave she looked over her shoulder, giving Latifu one last warm, thankful look before disappearing back into the trees.
