Ryu grinned a bit. "Only just a tiny bit...?" His own stomach then growled, and he gave a small snort. "I'd think that after chasing off that huge Eagle, you'd at least be starved."
He got up, walking away, smirking a bit. "And here I thought you might want to eat with me...." This was a rare moment indeed, with Ryu actually teasing someone. He was normally very serious, but in the case of Tavor, he knew that he'd probably scare the poor kit more unless he loosened up a bit himself.

"Nah" the little kit half-bragged "that was nothing... hardly took anything out of me"
However, as the older male started walking away, and started talking about eating, Tavor's stomach growled loudly again "...but I suppose I could keep you company if you'd like?" he padded after after Ryu "and you know... help you eat the rest if you can't eat it all yourself..."

Ryu nodded. "Good company would be nice...." He chuckled more to himself at the mention of him having too much food. "Good thinking, can't let food go to waist now."
He was finally feeling a bit more relaxed around the kit. He wasn't used to dealing with kits at all, and the fact that this one didn't have parents, just like himself, cause Ryu to feel a small bond towards him.
"What kinds of food do you like...?"

"Exactly my train of thought!" the young ulaya nodded enthusiasticly, and started trotting slowly to keep up with the older ulaya's larger steps.
He grinned up at the maroon male and nipped at his ankles in a teasing manner. He had never been so open with anybody before, but he couldn't help it. This ulaya had saved his life, he owed him his trust.
He blinked for a few seconds "I don't know... I mean... I have only ever eaten berries and roots" he scrunched his eyes and made a face "I tried eating bugs once, but they were so yucky" he admitted.

Ryu chuckled, then eyes the river. "Ever had fish before...?" He figured with how fast the currents were moving, there was probably a small waterfall nearby that emptied out into a miniature lake. Inside said miniature lake, there would probably be fish.
"They taste nothing like berries and roots, and they really taste nothing like bugs." The male then chuckled a bit, recalling his first time eating bugs. "I always hated that they seemed to try to crawl back up your throat..."

"...Fish?" Tavor's eyes were big and questioning "I didn't know you could eat fish" he said, his voice rising a few octaves at the end of the sentence, making it sound like a question. Then again, he doubted he would have been able to catch a fish if he had even tried. He winced a bit at the thougt. He wasn't exactly the world's best hunter.
"I suppose they taste... good then?" he carefully asked, and shuddered invoulentarily as he relived a particular nasty experience with a worm that had its own mind about which way it was going. After he had put it in his mouth.

"They're not really describable... Fish have their own taste, so you won't know if you like it until you try...." Ryu looked to the boy and smirked. "Want to give it a try, Kid?"
He eyed the river, then smirked, seeing a rock that jutted out far enough into the middle of the river that it would be decent for fishing on.

Tavor blinked a few times. He would love to try something different! That was why he had tried bugs in the first place. He was pretty tired of just eating berries and roots.
"I... uh..." he was going to say yes, but then realize that he would never be able to catch a fish. He bent his head in a defeated manner, and his ears drooped "I'm pretty sure I wouldn't be able to catch one" he mumbled.

Ryu snorted. "You won't with that attitude, that's for sure..." He looked over his shoulder at Tavor. "Do you honestly think I came out of the box and could fish with ease? I spent months trying and failing before I started to get the hang of it...."
He fell silent, staring into the water, then slapped the water with his paw in an attempt to scoop the fish out of the water to the shore, much like what a bear would do. Giving a small growl, he watched as the fish swam away; he'd missed. "I still don't always get fish...."

At Ryu's words, Tavor's head snapped up, his eyes filled with a new excitement. Ryu really thought TAVOR would be able to do it? And... he had been like Tavor once? Althought it wasn't exactly what Ryu had said, the thought gave Tavor some courage to try and walk toward the river himself.
He tried to position himself in the same way as Ryu, and watched intently, trying to copy his moves. A few drops of water splashed him in the face as Ryu tried to snatch a fish out of the water, and with a surprised squeal, Tavor lost his balance, and tumbled headfirst into the water, screaming out in distress.

Ryu moved swiftly the second Tavor's falling caught his eye, and he quickly turned and moved. Bitting down on Tavor's leg, he pulled the kit from the water, using his paw to pull him protectively in. He let go of Tavor's leg, hoping he hadn't bitten too hard in his slight protectiveness.
"You ok, Kid?" He looked down at the kit, realizing that his own heart was hammering a bit. "Didn't know you liked to swim..."

Tavor mewled at the sudden pain in his leg, but much preferred it to the coldness of the water. He had never been that fond of water, and he was more than sure that he wouldn't be able to swim even if he had tried.
He unconsciously pressed himself a little bit closer to the Ryu's warmer body "I-I... I'm fine" he finally answered "...I just thought I'd try different tactic?" he tried to explain himself, once more not really sure who he was trying to convince.

Ryu said nothing to call out Tavor's obvious bluff, but instead began to clean him. Part of him felt pity for the kit, and part of him felt responsible for what had happened; he had, after all, suggested that Tavor try fishing.
"Good.... Did I bite you too hard...?" He sounded a bit worried, and he pulled the kit farther into him, become rather protective.

Tavor blinked a few times at the unfamiliar feeling that was suddenly forming in him. A strange inner warmth was emanating from his heart as the older male started cleaning him and fussed a little over him. Was this what it was like having a father? He shook his head slightly.
"N-no.. I'm fine, I really am" he insisted, and tried to jump out of the maroon male's paws "Lets give this fishing thing another shot!" he exclaimed trying to seem more buff than he really was.

Ryu let the kit leap from his paws and gave him one more look over. "Alright, but this time I'm not fishing you out if you fall. Hope you learned a lesson this last time..."
He definitely couldn't deny it to himself any more; he was attached to the kit. He saw a lot of himself in Tavor, namely his really early years before life slapped him hard in the face and he learned how to fend properly for himself.
