Mana smiled. "Well, that's good, then. I hope you meet lots of other nice creatures out there, mortal and god alike."

She ruffled her feathers, feeling another itch coming on. What was it with the heat and her wings? It was always uncomfortable, and sometimes she wondered why she didn't just wander up to the mountains for a while, where it was certain to be a bit cooler.

Kokia butted in as it seemed that the Goddess let her mind wander again. "Heeey, y'know?" she started, hoping for a reaction out of the lion. "If you go just a bit more that way," she pointed with her wing to the west, "you're sure to find a pride of lions over there. We passed by them not too long ago. It might take you have a day to get there? Then you wouldn't grow hungry!"

Kiju couldn't help but grin back. "I hope you do too!" Though he imagined that she had a greater chance of meeting the unsavory gods, what with her being a god herself. He wanted to wish her luck, tell her to be careful, but he knew she didn't need that - she was a goddess, after all! He was sure that she knew how to take care of herself.

He, however, apparently needed help in that area. Thankfully, the little bird seemed to notice his problems (not that it was hard to see) and be willing to help out.

"Oh, really?" He bowed his head in thanks to Kokia. "I'll definitely look there then. I've been alone for far too long - you two have shown me that." In fact, now that he knew a pride was near, he was anxious to get going and find it. A new home! How nice that would be. Maybe he'd even find a new family...

Not that one could ever replace the one he'd lost. The one he'd abandoned. Kiju smiled at the goddess and her familiar. "I'm so glad I met you!"

Mana thought for amother moment, still staying quiet. She looked over to Kokia, who had finally caught her eyes. With a smile, she nodded at the nightingale.

Kokia's beak opened wide with glee and she gracefully glided over to Mana, landing on her shoulder. Instead of looking at the goddess, though, she examined her wings, looking for a certain something. With a chirp here and there, she finally found it; a loose feather, large enough for a lion to appreciate without being too large, or too important for the goddess to lose.

With a huff, she wriggled it loose from Mana's wing, holding onto it tight as she struggled to carry it over to the lion. She was loosing alititude as she flew over, so she dropped it gingerly on his forepaws before flying back up to Mana's shoulder, this time facing him as well as the goddess.

"With that feather, you can summon me any time you may need me. If I'm unable to come, Kokia will come instead, and try to help you as best she can. I offer it as a token to your new life, and hope that you'll stay safe."

Kiju was stunned. A summoning gift? He couldn't believe it - that she would trust him with such a precious item, and allow him to have the power to call to her! He would have to keep this safe and never use it unless it was absolutely necessary.

"Th-thank you!" He couldn't keep the grin off his face. "This is... wow! It's beautiful. No one's ever given me anything before." He looked at it shimmering near his paws, pale gold and breathtaking. A lion feather! "I'll keep it safe, I promise!"

Gingerly, the male bent over to retrieve the feather. With careful precision he placed it in his mane - for now it would stay, but he'd need to get something better soon. A token like this deserved something more, something grand and --

-- his stomach rumbled, pointedly reminding him that it hadn't had a good meal since... well, who knew when? Kiju laughed, embarrassed. "I guess I should get moving, and maybe get to that pride before my stomach revolts." He bowed once more, low, to the goddess and the tiny bird.

"Thank you so much! I hope your travels are safe." His heart was light, his thoughts happy as he set off towards the pride.

Mana smiled at him. "Well, at least you appreciate it, right?" She nodded to him when he mentioned that he should leave. She did hear the slight rumble, but wrote it off as nothing embarassing. All creatures got hungry, and the stomache didn't care when it told it's owner it was hungry.

"Just take good care of it along with yourself, and we will probably cross paths again," she added on, stretching out her wings in a bit of a farewell.

Kokia waved her wing as well, but she actually had giggled when his stomache had rumbled.

"Well, I hope he'll be safe," the goddess mentioned to her bird friend.

"Of coruse he will be, Mother Wind! Because now you're watching over him, too."

The goddess didn't answer, just laughed. The bird didn't understand that she couldn't save everyone, or keep everyone safe, but the goddess wouldn't spoil it to the bird. She didn't need to hear that now.

"C'mon, Mother Wind, let's go for a fly!" She flapped her wings and took off into the air, knowing that the goddess would be right behind her.
