Bem smiled after Horatio. She was completely exhausted, but could not sleep. She was too excited and nervous. She couldn't take her eyes off all the little living bodies moving around her. These were her pups. Her responsibility. Her joy. She smiled down at all of them. Some were asleep, some eating. She looked over them, now noticing their distinct coloring. Some looked a lot like her, some like Horatio, and some a mix of the two. And a few with a lot of purple on them, no doubt from Horatio's family. She couldn't wait to meet all of them.
She laid her head back on the cool stone and rested, one eye open and on the pups.
