"I'll take whatever's good," since he didn't trust himself ordering anything, especially from a place that had no menus and faux food products, he figured if the waitress recommended it, it should've been alright and hopefully not made from rats or people, but, admittedly, it'd be amusing as hell if he ended up with the sausage by doing this.

Orenda happily grabbed onto the pepper shaker, despite its being covered in drool, she could ignore that, she just wanted to know what it was. She turned it upside down and watched as some of the flakes fell out; that was definitely new to her; in fact, she was so amazed by it that she concentrated really, really hard and tried to make some more fall out with her mind, since she'd forgotten how it happened in the first place, but that didn't work. "Wuh," the baby said pathetically, staring at the pepper shaker in confusion.

Why wasn't it working now?

"Hey, hey, don't get any of that on me," Nick said, taking the shaker away from her, despite her protests, but was disgusted to find baby drool on it. Gross.

The waitress sneered.

"One blue plate, one horse-on-a-platter," she said, dutifully scribbling the order on her notepad. As she bustled away, Darry looked at Nicholas in interest.

"If you die of food poisoning, I'll look after your mushroom for you."

Katya stared at Orenda in shock. She BROKE IT. Good lord, could only she be trusted with valuable things like condiments?

"Fuu."

Well, that sounded frightening; he couldn't trust anyone, could he?

"Is it really gonna be that bad," Nicholas wondered, grimacing at the very thought, really. "If I do die, I actually taped a return address to the inside of her clothes, somewhere; before you ask, couldn't think of anywhere else to put it," he said, sitting the pepper shaker back down on the table and wiping the baby spit off of his hand, frowning, "unless it fell off while we were walking, then you can have her."

The mushroom child stared almost pitifully, and apologetically, in Katya's direction, as if to say she didn't really mean to, it just kind of happened that way. Besides, it was fun to see the multicolored specks come out, though their colors could have been a little brighter.

"Cool," Darry said, eyeing Orenda with a mild expression. "I'd like having a mushroom-kid. Color's a little retina-searing but I could get used to it."

Katya, looking displeased at first, relented after a minute or so. Well, perhaps it wasn't all Orenda's fault that she'd broken Katya's precious pepper shaker. It wasn't like it had exploded or anything, really.

"Kuh," she said indulgently, sniffing imperiously. "Doosh."

"Horse-meat an' a blue plate," the waitress said, bustling over in a rather surprisingly short time - one would have to hope that the meat wasn't just slapped onto the plates fresh off the animal, really. Darry looked at his with pleasure before digging in. Nicholas' plate was somewhat less intimidating - a bird of indeterminate origin, looking freshly fried at least three times over. In defiance of all odds, it smelled rather good.
