"She's a snake," he said before giving in his exhaustion and laying his head on the desk. "And she's quite clean, for the most part."

That was far more interesting than Irelia would ever credit Antony with.
"Does she eat them whole? Mice, I mean. Or bugs? Ewww, I hate spiders."
Irelia pretended not to notice Antony's sleepiness. Besides, you weren't supposed to sleep in detention. You also weren't supposed to talk, but Irelia tended to disregard the rules anyway.

"She unhinges her jaw and swallows them whole," he said. "But don't tell the princesses, they might be shocked." He sat up, looking at her for a long moment. "I must admit, though, I wouldn't have told you either, if you weren't just as likely to read my mind for it."

Irelia was intrigued. What an odd pet for Antony, but Irelia had to give him credit for something as cool as a snake.
"I wouldn't have been able to find that out, you know. I don't read minds. I read secrets. You also have a LOT of things you don't want people to know about, but are sort of tame, so you're hard to read anyway. Some people... leak their secrets everywhere, especially those who wish to harm others. They're the easiest to read, though its usually hard to pin anything on."
Irelia grinned at Antony, despite herself.
"I won't tell the princesses about Duchess if you don't tell anyone about the rules of my mind reading. Its far more useful if they think you can read their minds. Especially if you look at them REALLY intently."

"Everyone has things they don't want others to know," he said. "And you should be careful of who you do that trick to, unless you wish to be hurt, that is." He yawned again. "If what you say is true, that is."

Irelia shrugged.
"Why would I lie? Besides, doing the mind trick gives me a terrible headache, so having people think you can read minds is usually easier than actually doing it."
Irelia nodded, briefly thinking back to a couple of situations she had been in.
"That's true, I guess. Most don't take kindly to me knowing things they don't want people to know. Eh, well that makes sense for why I am constantly being sent to detention. I guess it follows that they dislike me telling them they're wrong all the time, as well."
Seeing the second yawn, Irelia followed suit.
"Why are you yawning so much?"

"Because I'm tired," he said, a bit dryly. "I'm surprised that the teacher isn't in here. Isn't detention the spot where children are watched closely?"
He looked around at the empty room, wondering how this was supposed to be punishment for anything. As far as he could tell it was just another day. He stayed after school daily, after all.

"Mmm, usually they check in every once in awhile. Perhaps they got tired of looking in on me since my father is on the grounds and I'm never doing anything bad in here."
Irelia bit her lip. That made her sound vaguely... normal.
"I mean, i don't want anyone to think... It's just that... But I don't really- You know, you really make me say annoying things!"
Irelia crossed her arms. Now people were going to think she was going soft.

He snorted, then laid his head on the desk again, since it seemed that no one was going to check on them. He wanted sleeeeeeepppp... Sleep was one of the most important things a growing boy could have, after all! Right up there with food and Elvis.

Seeing that Antony was sleeping and therefore, not interesting anymore, Irelia went back to her lines. She still had several hundred to go, and they weren't going to write themselves.
Besides, there were only a couple of minutes left in the detention hour.

Asher had heard from the other teachers that Antony had been sent to detention, and he was worried about him. Irelia was fully capable of taking care of herself. Too capable.
Finishing up with his late class, Asher washed the clay from his hands.
"I really hope that both kids are still alive by the time i get down there."

Antony was so sound asleep that he didn't even wake at the sound of the door knocking. He didn't even have a bruise on him.

Asher opened the door, and was surprised to see Irelia working diligently in the corner, and Antony asleep in the front. It was more surprising not to see a teacher watching them. Asher was happy to see Irelia was slowly getting over her anger problems, and would have to go thank Beth for that.
Irelia looked up and saw Asher, and smiled briefly.
"I have... 20 more lines to go. I'll be a couple of minutes."
Asher nodded, and backed out of the room, closing the door.
"What happened to my daughter?" Asher sat on the bench outside the door, and started to mark some papers that had been handed to him in class. Late, of course, you couldn't trust art students to remember due dates. They listened to their muse. Asher scowled.
Irelia finished her lines, and arranged the papers, lining them up nicely and she dropped them on to the teachers desk.
