Yet again, a basket was placed on a porch, with a note tucked inside. This time, Chaco was attempting to find a home for a child, one who had already had one but lost it. It was a sad situation, but it happened sometimes.

Well... He sighed and knocked on the door, took a last look at the child, then took to the air. The letter inside the basket with the child reads:

Note
Dear Sir or Madam;

I am sorry for this intrusion into your life, however I must make a request of you. Within this basket on your step is a young child in need of a home. His name is Chael. If, for whatever reason, you think you are not up to that task or have any questions, please come to the Shiroko Estate at 12 Elton Avenue.

Thank you very much,

Chaco Shiroko

"What the hell," Fauste muttered to himself, basket in one hand and note in the other. His dark eyes scanned the tiny piece of paper again and again, the words seemed to be mocking him... These people are crazy! Leaving babies outside a house like that; what if they were taken in by a psycho? The male frowned, and crushed the note, "These people must be breeding babies illegally... I can't think of another reason why this place have so many homeless babies!"

As the door closed behind him, the necromancer let out a shirt sigh. The last time he became a father, it was due to an experiment gone wrong; of course, his son 'died' quite some time ago. He missed him, to an extend, but Fauste was never the fatherly type. He hated the idea of being tied down, of setting a good example, of rearing a child, of caring so much for someone... He'll return the child first thing tomorrow morning. It's dark now, and both of them deserves some rest.

The baby gurgled as the adult brought him into his bedroom, placing the basket on his bed. Reaching for a blanket, Fauste wrapped the winged ears baby up and placed him on the bed. It reminded him of when he was taking care of his deceased son... Although those memories were bittersweet, Fauste had to admit that he enjoyed the experience of being called 'father', no matter how old it made him feel. Even now, he still occasionally miss Seth's teasing.

"Hm... How did you end up on the streets? What's your name? Chael, was it? Weird name..."

He smirked, laying down on the bed beside the bundle. Hesitantly, he stroked the boy's fine hair in an attempt to coo him to sleep.

"Me looking after a boy like you... Sleeping on the same bed. I'm glad Seth isn't around to laugh. Or maybe, it'll be better if he was here, even if he is laughing at me."

Chael was confused; his father and other family members had vanished. Instead, he found himself in the arms of this stranger... For once in his entire life, he did not feel like smiling of laughing. He felt... Afraid, anxious, and a lingering sadness. He felt like crying, and brawling his eyes out. He wished he knew how to call 'daddy', like his older siblings. Maybe if he called out, his father will return.

When he realized that this man was stroking him, he felt a little better. Maybe his father will come for him tomorrow! This should be temporary... It must be. Closing his eyes, the young male drifted off into a dreamless sleep, body curled up into a tight, protective ball.

"We'll bring you to that Chaco guy tomorrow then. He'll know what happened..."

"No. No. No. No."

The male muttered softly to himself, sighing as he dumped his house keys on the side table in the living room. Feeling eyes on him, something he didn't like experiencing as a Necromancer even after all these years, he turned around to the source. His dark eyes met with the pale eyes of a living person, for better or for worse. At this point in time, even a hundred... No, a thousand dead people will be better than this one child. Of course, this particular child didn't exactly look like he wanted Fauste's company either.

"Look, its not like I want you to be here. Your father did not want you anymore, so I have to look after you. He is not coming back."

Although he did not understand most of the words, Chael did catch the words 'father', 'did not want' and 'not coming back'. Piecing them together, he realized that his father did not want him anymore, and is not coming back for him! He had been thrown out of the house! For once in his entire short life, he started crying.

It started out as soft, inconsistent sobs. Then, as the tears started to flow more like a rushing waterfall, Chael started to brawl. It was like a drizzle turning into a shower; a stream turning into a river. He cried his heart out. As young as he might be, as innocent as others claim him to be, something tugged at his heart...

'Father is never coming back.'

At first, Fauste did not care. He did not even try to pacify the child. All he did, was to sit a distance away. He had assumed that Chael should cry his heart out, let out his sorrows. Of course, he did not expect the child to cry for so long... Was there a sea in him? Maybe he did not know how to stop. After all, that was the first time in two days when the baby had cried.

Most babies cry like it was needed for their survival. Chael? He cries only when he needs to.

For the man, it was only the beginning of another long tale.

"Daddy..."

The baby whispered as he yawned, rubbing the sand out of his eyes. Light flooded into the room through an open window opposite his bed, and the white semi-transparent curtains fluttered gently as a soft breeze made its way into the room. Although he had slept quite soundly through the night, the wind and tranquility of his bedroom made his eyelids heavy. He wanted to continue sleeping; yawning again, he wiggled his feathery ears before making up his mind to return to dreamland.

Then, suddenly, Chael realized he was not in his own room. His bed smelt different. Even the room was not the same; his bed did not face the window! This one was facing the window; he knew because it was bright behind his closed eyelids. The sleepy feeling escaped from him immediately, replaced by fear, and his eyes were quickly wide open. Where was he? Why was he here? Where did his father go? Where did his siblings go? Questions swamped the child's mind, and he felt giddy. The whole room spun before him, his vision blurred.

"Father!"

He wailed, tears flowing from his eyes.

Journal Entry #1:

This child is really something. After meeting someone new earlier today, when I brought him along to the mansion, he cheered up quite a bit... Just a little, but it was noticeable. He had even stopped frowning every time he sees me nearby; it's like he was blaming me for him losing his previous father or something, the way he frowns at my presence. Perhaps I'm just putting too much thought into this whole... Baby thing.

After since I lost Seth last year, I told myself I'll never be a father again...

And look what fate brought me! A bundle of smelly crap that dislikes me. I guess its the mighty one's way of saying "I love you! Here, have a gift!"

Maybe I should look forward. This child might even brighten up things around this building... Make a little (not a lot, hopefully) noise, something that was robbed from this place ever since Seth vanished from existence. Who knows? This bugger might even provide soem form of entertainment as he grows up...
