Like a stormcloud on a summer day, the expression of seriousness and reflection was gone before it really had time to register on Guilian's face, dismissed by new thoughts of a much more pleasing nature. Neve, the child of the three who had been most loyal to Izusa and consequently most distant from himself, looked to be content with her lot, as content as one could be in such circumstances, and he'd never been the sort of father to second-guess his children. If they were happy, he was happy, and that was all there was to it!
Still, The squeeze he gave her as he stepped up to collect Louie was a bit stronger than usual, and the accompanying smile a bit stronger. "It is an excellant answer, Neve, and shows a wisdom far beyond the understandings of most. To be content with one's lot is perhaps the most significant prospect obtainable!"
On that note, though, he chuckled, one of his own wishes popping up at the idea of being content with his own lot. "You know, Neve, your brother Antony lives in these parts and is about to become a first-time father himself. Perhaps at some point the two of you can catch up on things...and maybe even bury the hatchet, yes?"
Then, as though he WEREN'T meddling, Guilian swept past Neve to collect Louie who, in spite of Guilian's loud remonstrance earlier, was still chattering away to Maharet. "Come, Louie; much as I'm sure it pains young Maharet to lose your engaging company, your mother will fret if she is without you for TOO long, so we need to be off. Maharet, it has been a delight to see you; perhaps sometime, when you are less monopolized, we shall be able to have a proper conversation ourselves."
With a wink at his granddaughter and a wave at Neve, Guilian then started off, gently shepherding the protesting Louie ahead of him. All told, a productive day!

'Hmm?' Yes, I would say it is. Contentment is better than happiness I think. I always find that lasts longer.' Neve said wryly, and then raised an eyebrow at her father's suggestion.
'He is?I wish him luck, and I don't know whether the extention of an olive branch from myself would be viewed in any way other than sarcasm. If I knew he was of the same mind then maybe.' she gave what can only be described as a shrug. She supposed it would be interesting to see how her brothers were doing in life, but their conversation always seemed to devolve into childish name calling.
She gave a wave with her wing, and called goodbyes to both.
Maharet tucked herself against Neve, sort of thankful that the chattering colt was now going away. She'd like to see her Grand-daddy again though, and gave him a shy smile as they were leaving.
