Flamepaw's ears twitched softly as he heard the warrior speak. He took everything he said to heart. He nodded after Tuxedopelt told him to dig a hole. He picked the dead body off his claw and began to scratch up a hole in the hardening earth. He shoved the frog into the hole and put dirt softly over it. His tail flickered as Tuxedo pelt spoke once more.

"how... How did you lose your first catch?" Flamepaw asked in a semi-depressing tone. The apprentice was curious and the big question would be, will this curious cat be killed by it?

Tuxedopelt laughed softly as he walked forwards his ears twitching in every direction his mouth open to take in the scents.

"I was foolish like most young cats. I barreled after a rabbit thinking I was fast enough to catch it on speed alone. That's what being an apprentice is about though. If you were perfect every time you wouldn't need to be an apprentice would you? Not even warriors are perfect and the sooner you learn that lesson the easier it will be to live life the way it is meant to be lived. Doing everything the best you can."

Tuxedopelt stopped suddenly he scented a squirrel. He spotted it not far near a tree trunk. This would be a demonstration not a hunt for Flamepaw.

"What do you smell?" Tuxedopelt whispered to Flamepaw quickly.

He swished his tail at the story but didn't answer the questions that Tuxedopelt had in his little flashback story. He walked behind the warrior who headed on. of course, until he stopped and asked a uestion that Flamepaw needed to answer.

The young apprentice lifted his nose and tried to sniff the air. He couldn't sniff anything in the close by he opened his mouth like Tuxedopelt and took in a breath. He could barely make out any smells. "i smell a woodland creature" He whispered back softly, unsure whether it was or wasn't a squirrel

"Good, but you'll have to work on picking out one smell from another." Tuxedopelt whispered before crouching the earth and stalking quickly and quietly as he could towards the squirrel. He got to the point where there wasn't much cover and the squirrel spotted him. He began up the tree, but Tuxedopelt was on him in a flash climbing up the trunk of the tree he snatched the squirrel in his mouth and killed it in one chomp of his teeth.

Digging a hole just under the tree he covered the catch before sitting down to lick his fur a bit. "How are you liking this trip so far with me Flamepaw?"

Flamepaw looked wide-eyed at how swift the warrior went up the tree and catching the squirrel in a blink of an eye. a giant smile was on his face as Tuxedopelt buried the prey. Flamepaw was at a loss for words until Tuxedopelt asked him a question. "I LOVE IT!" The cat called out as he nearly jumped out of his fur. His tail swished side to side in happiness that he got to hunt with a REAL WARRIOR!

Tuxedopelt laughed out loud the shout from Flamepaw would have freaked the prey anyways. They would have to travel a bit before they ran into prey again, but he wasn't going to let scolding darken this moment.

"Good good. I've been watching you for a day or so Flamepaw, and I think you have what it takes to deal with one as fickle as I when it comes to training. What I'm trying to say is, I've asked Moonstar and she agrees, that if you wish, I will be your mentor."

Tuxedopelt washed his fur a bit watching the apprentice with one eye while the other was closed.

Flamepaw's smile turned into a happily-surprised face. The apprentice was practically jumping for joy after Tuxedopelt told him he was to be the apprentice of this warrior. "R- R- Really?! You think i'm ready?!" He asked to confirm again and make sure he wasn't hearing things. He wanted to run over and give the warrior a loving nuzzle but he was goign to be an apprentice with a REAL mentor, so he had to keep his cool.

"That's what this trip was about my dear boy. I wanted to know if you were ready to listen to what I had to say and ready to learn. I have decided that you are indeed ready for the responsibility of being an apprentice. " Tuxedopelt turned to look at Flamepaw a new sense of decorum washed over the Warrior as he stared into Flamepaw's eyes.

"The life of a Warrior is not an easy one, and neither is the life of an apprentice. At times during your apprenticeship you may feel like the work is to hard, but you must remember, your paws are not the first to follow this path and they won't be the last. Your fellow apprentices and Warriors will be here to support you through thick or thin. What you will earn from this trial of life will be worth every ache, pain, and tear your body will receive. You will earn the respect of your clan and the protection of the great warriors of the past known as Starclan. I know you can do this and I know you will not regret it. Above all during our training remember that you aren't doing it for me, or you, your doing it for the whole clan and we all know we must give our all to the good of the clan."

Tux smiled one more his body becoming more relaxed. "Lets catch one or two more things then head back to camp so you can spread the news if you wish."

Flamepaw nodded at some parts of the speech but was completely lost at other parts. overall, he smiled and nodded. The young apprentice turned with his tail and head up high with a sense of pride. To be honoured to be an apprentice in danger, or an apprentice that saves. "I'm going to check over there for some prey~" The young apprentice said as he pointed to the bushes. He had dashed off behind a patch of bushes before waiting for a reply.

Tuxedopelt nodded with approval he had chosen well.
Taking a stalking position he tracked the apprentice's steps climbing a fallen tree he watched the apprentice. He wanted to know how much the young one knew without help. This would let Tuxedopelt know what they still needed to work on or start on for that matter.

Flamepaw, clueless as always, didn't even notice the warrior following him. He could hear something in the distance. It sounded like a small mouse that survived leaf-bare and climbed out, trying to find food. It was scrawny and couldn't even provide a mouthful for a warrior.

The apprentice got down into a crouching position. His stomach nearly brushed the snowy floor. He stepped lightly closer to the mouse, though his pawsteps were crunching underneath the snow. The mouse heard right away and dashed back in it's hole. Flamepaw raced across and looked into the hole, his nose almost plugged the entire hole from how far he was from it.

Stalking. Tuxedopelt noted to himself, before slipping down the tree. His form is good he just needs to learn how to move in that position. Tuxedopelt saw the light change and he looked upwards. It seemed it was going to snow, they should head back now. Before they had to freeze their paws to dig up the prey.

He padded towards Flamepaw from behind smirking a bit. "Not bad but once it's down the hole its gone. Remember the hole for later reference, check around it again later the mouse might not be in it's hole anymore. I'm sorry to cut this short, but snow is coming we should head back. I need to tell Moonstar of my decision for you anyways."

The apprentice pulled out a snowy muzzle from the hole as he turned to Tuxedopelt. He looked to the sky and saw the white flakes drifting down. He nodded without hesitance at the warrior. The young orange pelted apprentice began to trot off in the snow towards the camp, forgetting about the prey they had caught earlier.

"Wait a moment young one. We have prey to pick up. Go find the frog you buried, I'll get the squirrel." Tuxedopelt chirped this one would take some work, but he was willing to learn. He didn't give any lip either, which was so refreshing compared to some of the other apprentices about.

Tuxedopelt went back to the squirrel and began to dig it up. He hoped the apprentice would remember where he buried the frog. He could always find it if he didn't, but it would be a point for the lad if he remembered.

Flamepaw's ears drooped as he had forgotten about the frog. "Yes, i shall go find it." He said as he retraced his pawsteps towards where the snow seemed to look out of the ordinary. He sniffed the base of the trees to try find the frog he had caught with the help of Tuxedopelt. He didn't want the warrior to help him find it, so he must find it first.

He began to dig where he thought it was but soon, he found himself digging a new hole in the ground. He dashed away to try find soft ground where he had passed before. He soon ended up making so many pawprints in the snow that he couldn't tell which were fresh and which ones were old...
