"No! Nono don't don't DON'T TOUCH ME!" Dodger screeched, flailing about with her wings and her free foot and almost - but not quite - reaching up to bite at Highfog's restraining talons. The frenzied fledgling wriggles and squirms in her attempts to break free. "Gitaway gitaway!! Leave me ALONE!" Clearly heedless of her own risk of falling (or the risk of pulling the Teacher down with her) Dodger begins to flap in earnest, erratic wingbeats evening out to a steady force, trying to pull herself away from her assailant. It's fairly obvious at this point that the young Aberrant isn't entirely rational, to say the least.

Ground was bad. Ground was extremely bad. Ground was pain. Ground was Danger. Craneberry couldn't see what was happening below, partly because her eyes were firmly closed and didn't seem to want to open ever again.

Ground was bad. She had been told she was lucky. She had been told to be more careful, because she couldn't count on being as lucky twice. Ground was pain, and Dodger was down there.

She could hear voices drifting up from under her. First only a faint mumble, but soon the teacher started to yell at someone or something. Craneberry's eartufts twitched. Then she heard Dodger screech, clearly in panic. The trembling fledgling was slimming down in fear as pieces of what Dodger was saying reached her ears. "DON'T TOUCH ME!"

"...me ALONE!"

Something finally snapped and Craneberry opened her eyes wide. Then she fled, screaming.

"IT'S TAKING HER! IT'S TAKING HER!" she yelled, flapping madly from branch to branch closer to the safety of the minder's enclave. She wasn't sure what was taking Dodger, but it could only be Bad.

((not trying to leave the rp, she could easily be stopped by someone. If she isn't she'll probably try to hide under the closest minder until her parents are coming to get her))

Highfog began losing her balance. She flapped her wings in an attempt not to release the young hyperactive ball, but lost her grip eventually and landed, not graciously at all, a branch further. Shaking her head, she frowned angrily, mere yellow slits looking down Dodger. "Calm down", she spat loudly, "I know I haven't hurt you. I'm not going to throw you on the Ground, quite the opposite. Needless to say, once we are done with your useless panic..." before finishing her sentence, she made herself ready to fly again in case the flegling would fall down. "... you will have plenty reasons to behave normally. Minders will find a more appropriate punishment than I will. Let's go back, now."

"nonoNONO!NO" she rants, continuing to struggle until the larger Sentinel has flown clear. It's possible that if Dodger had been listening to anything Highfog had said she would stay calm and become more resigned to her fate. Unfortunately, the Teacher's words were greatly overshadowed by the terrified screams from above.

That racket combined with the fledgling's pre-existing frenzy and the tail-end of Highfog's words - namely 'punishment' - to propel Dodger into an even higher state of anxiety. Now she's hissing and flailing all over again and she falls clear of the branch, her wingbeats pulling her closer to the ground before she loops about elegantly and begins to fly away - in the exact opposite direction that Craneberry has fled in.

Fog couldn't really do anything anymore to try and catch her student. She watched her fly away, quietly, but upset. "Feh, fine", she just said to herself as she went back up in a more secure area, "I am so telling this to her Minders... parents... or whatever."
Unfortunately, Craneberry had left the hunting lessons too. Having not listened to her screams, the teacher had no idea where she went. "I told her to stay there", she whispered to no one in particular.
She proceeded to throw the rest of the fruits down the trees to calm her down. With a bit of luck, these will give birth to new plants. "As soon as I remember her name... damn it, I bet they will become vegans... like those creatures on the ground, and they will only hunt berries and nuts... I am not doing this so they turn vegans."

(I suspect this rp is nearly over. This is what happens to Craneberry later that day)

Later that day Rowan and Snowdrop fetched their very excited daughter from the Minder's enclave. Craneberry flap-skip-hopped towards them, hooting happily. And there was hardly a trace of the terrified fledgling from before.

"And, and, and... I learned how to kill fruit," Craneberry chirped and hopped towards her parents. "And I met a new friend, and... and... I think she was eaten by a monster. But the minder said there was no monster. And she was really good at flying so I hope she wasn't eaten. What's for dinner?"

(Hours later...)

Dodger's return to the Minder's enclave hadn't been nearly as pleasant as Craneberry's, thanks in no small part to her own escapades earlier in the evening. She'd delayed her return as long as was possible, but when her belly began a-rumbling the fledgling heeded its call and went to where the food was at.

There, of course, she was greeted by a furious group of Minders who proceeded to berate the aberrant for her inexcusable behaviour. While Craneberry was excited to see her parents and go home for dinner, Dodger was settling in to a boring and bland meal. By herself. No Skurri, again.
