He bobbed his head, acknowledging those statements and puffed up just a little, always willing to accept a compliment. Brushing his unruly bangs aside (or at least attempting to), he laughed softly, "Mysterious? There's nothing mysterious about me, I can assure you of that." He seemed just a tad nervous at the suggestion, reading something in it that Kaoru probably hadn't meant at all.

Sipping from his cup again, Cyr leaned back in his chair, "You needn't worry about that at all, I think. You're a charming one, Kaoru. Men and women alike had better watch out." There was a knowing smile about him and the way he spoke showed he didn't care about gender. Tapping the side of his head, the Shifter winked, "Don't let it go to your head, though."

The child was curious about the slight change in demeanor, but didn't seemed phased by the second part of his compliment. Kaoru either wasn't concerned about it, or did not understand the implications; there was a good chance it was the latter more than the former. Before anything could be said, however, a familiar musical voice came between the two.

"Kaoru, are you-...Cyralthein!" Crystal approached the two from the flower shop, all smiles and surprise. She wore a long sleeved gown of dark blue with lighter sky cinchings and skirts, worn in her typical fashion just off of her pale and slender shoulders. Her arms extended to her daughter, who hopped out of the chair and met the woman halfway. She deftly gathered the girl in her arms in a tight embrace, kissing her forehead sweetly. "Have you been keeping him company, Kay? That's sweet of you," she purred before continuing to the man in question, extending her arms to him in welcome. "I see you've been in the fine company of my daughter! What are the odds?"

It couldn't be helped. A grin that reached ear to ear split Kaoru's face, ruby eyes glowing with delight and pride as they regarded Cyr for his reaction.

He glanced up at the musical voice and smiled, offering a wave as she approached.... then blinked in surprise as Crystal gathered up Kaoru in her arms. Laughing merrily, he gave Kaoru a sly look, "I think they were stacked odds, actually. You've quite the clever little girl, Crystal." Rising to meet her, he stepped into her embrace and gave her a friendly hug.

"You'll have to be careful with this one." He chuckled once more and bowed to each now that he was standing. "She's fine company indeed."

Crystal hugged the man adoringly, smiling at him as he moved back. "I hope she wasn't causing any trouble. She usually runs small errands for us since she has more energy than all of us combined." The woman turned to find Kaoru beaming up at her, giving a small laugh before leaning down to the child. Despite her daughter's age, the flower girl lifted her into her arms, which twined around the girl's backside to keep her from falling. "Were you teasing him, Kay?" she asked with a playful stern-tone of voice.

"We were just talking mom!" the Scent crowed delightedly between fits of gleeful laughter, wrapping dainty arms around the woman's swan-like neck beneath her thick black curls. "Cyr has such pretty eyes, I didn't do anything!" Lower lip jutted out in a mock pout, which quickly dissolved into more giggles.

The woman smiled between the two, a little perplexed but otherwise pleased. "It's so good to see you, Cyralthein! What a delightful surprise! What brings you by our humble shop, other than my dear daughter?" Seashell lips smiled fondly at the man, continuing to hold the girl in her arms. Kaoru seemed to enjoy it, resting that curly head upon the woman's shoulder, eyes still filled with mirth while watching Cyr.

"No trouble at all, m'lady." He nodded, smiling, and reached out to muss up Kaoru's hair in a friendly motion, "My thanks. You'll have to visit with your mother some time so I can show you a few tricks and things." He winked at the child then smiled at Crystal, a conspiratorial look in his eye. As delightful as the child was, he actually wouldn't mind showing her he was something more... in the hopes of getting the same reaction as he'd gotten from Crystal. It would be nice to have a few close friends around which he didn't have to play a part.

"What brings me here?" He blinked and glanced over at the flower portion of the shop, "I came to visit you, actually, and now that I've enjoyed your wonderful little cafe, I'm thinking I'd like to give my business to the flower side of things. Nothing better to say 'I love you' then a dozen red roses, right? Do you have those? And perhaps something to go along with them?"

A light smile surfaced, her grey-blue eyes shifting to look over her daughter as he spoke of showing a few tricks and things. She wasn't entirely sure if he meant his true form, but she had a feeling Kaoru would just about fall in love with the man if she saw that he was 'different'...like her. That made Crystal smile a little, chuckling warmly at Cyr. He was a good man.

Kaoru giggled and allowed those curly locks to be mussed, closing one eye with the motion while watching him joyfully with the other. "I would like that very much!" the child announced to the adults, lifting away from Crystal as the woman moved to release her hold. Once upon dainty feet, the Scent looked between the two, giggling all over again at Cyr's last words.

"Do we have roses?" Crystal repeated incredulously, although her amused smile and arched slender brows gave away her playful teasing. "My dearest Cyralthein, I daresay we carry flowers most people don't know exist," she grinned, her voice lined with pride, "and roses are our specialty - along side lilies, of course. Come, come." She motioned for him to follow, bunching her skirts to walk back towards the flower store. "Baby's Breath traditionally goes with roses, if you just want an accent. There's also Bells of Ireland, which look like green Snap Dragons, purple Liatris...oh, and French Statice, which is slightly softer in appearance than Baby's Breath..."

"Mom, you're rambling," Kaoru informed the woman as they passed the glass wall.

Crystal blinked, glancing over her shoulder with an apologetic smile. "Forgive me. Ask a flower girl about flowers, and...you'll end up with a small history." She chuckled a little, making her way towards the counter in the back. The flower shop itself was simply flowing with flowers of all colors, shapes and variety. Because it was colder, the staff had put out the warmer colored flowers, inviting yellows by the door, leading into sweet oranges, vibrant reds and kissable pinks on the left side; the yellows faded into a few light greens, a handful of sky blues and violets on the right, with a few pure white closer to the counter itself. Several small round turning tables were placed throughout the store, each displaying something lovely and seasonal for the upcoming holiday, mingled pinks, reds and whites to be fawned over.

"Here we are," she said, stopping by one of the turn tables by the counter. She pointed to a few of the arrangements, indicating the afforementioned accents with a demure smile. "There's also Forget-Me-Nots. They're mostly blue, but we got some this year that almost look white."

He blinked and then laughed softly as they started away, "Roses aren't that common where I come from..." Cyr shrugged a bit, slightly embarrassed. When they stopped before the forget-me-nots, he reached out and brushed them with finger tips, smiling as they seemed to perk just a little bit more and fairly glow with beauty. "They're beautiful. Wonderful choice, Crystal."

Turning, he trailed fingers across the other nearby blooms and made the same thing happen, it was subtle and wouldn't draw attention. He and Arcanos might be gods but really, infusing health and building small barriers was about all Cyr had learned to do. Winking at Kaoru, the Shifter then regarded Crystal with a wry smile, "I'd like the Forget-Me-Nots, please. Your selection is particularly wonderful."

An apologetic glance followed Cyr's first words, smiling while biting her bottom lip. At the compliment that followed, Crystal gave a small curtsey, offering playfully, "Tis my job. I do appreciate it." She seemed to miss what Cyralthein was doing with the flowers, either thinking him being tender or simply uninclined to the use of enhancements.

Kaoru, on the other hand, while not knowing exactly what the man was doing, was sensitive to such things with plants and bloom. It was in the nature of the pomegranate. Ruby eyes followed his hands, not necessarily in question or alarm, but in curiosity and a bare hint of amusement. The child chose to retain silence for the time being, curly head bobbing between the two adults.

"We thank you for your kind words," the flower girl gave another curtsey, "I am pleased we have something of your liking. I'll bear that in mind should we meet again." Smokey blue eyes shimmered with a hint of mischief before she gathered a few choice springs of Forget-Me-Nots, murmuring over her shoulder, "Just a moment!" before disappearing behind the counter and into the back of the shop.

The Scent watched the woman retreat before glancing up to Cyr. "She's probably getting the new batch of roses from grandpa," Kaoru said as sagely as possible. "It's good to see her smile with her heart."

"Of course." Cyr smiled, half bowing as she took her momentary leave. Bemused he ran a hand through his unruly hair and laughed softly. She made him act like such a nobleman... and he thought'd long ago gotten rid of the habit. Glancing down at Kaoru, he smiled at hir, "What an honour! It is good to 'smile with your heart', it better then putting on a mask." He spoke with a nod, knowing all too well the difference.

"Do you plan on following your mother's footsteps, Kaoru?" He asked casually, genuinely curious as to whether or not the child had a passion for flowers.

"I wanted to, but I don't think she wants that." The child's face, while smiling, was more serious than it'd been for the duration of their meeting. Kaoru gave a small shrug as though to indicate it didn't matter, but the plastered smile indicated otherwise. "I just want to help. I guess, though, taking care of her is a full time job all on its own." The words were light and made in jest, but there was a dark undertone that suggested there was more to the statement.

Before the Scent could say more, any hints of unrest were washed away as garnet eyes caught sight of the woman in question. "That was fast! Did grampa give you pretty ones?" Kaoru beamed up at the black-haired twosome.

"Only the best," Crystal assured her daughter, winking at Cyr. In her arms were two dozen long-stemmed roses of two different shades; one was a vibrant red as though plucked from a rainbow, the other a deep velvet of wine. "Which do you like, dear Cyralthein? I can mix them if you'd like." She smiled warmly at the man, offering them up if he wanted to see them or smell them.

Kaoru grumbled a little, quietly enough Crystal couldn't hear, but Cyr likely could. "Why does she get to call you by your full name?"

Cyr's expression hardened just a tad as he opened his mouth to reply but Crystal returned and he smiled, "Both shades are wonderful!" Blinking, he looked down with a confused expression, had he just heard what he thought he had....? It didn't matter to him what other called him, most just preferred Cyr as his full name was rather long.

Reaching out, he took one of each and knelt to peer at Kaoru over the top of the wonderful blooms. "Which do you think? I rather like both." Then, more quietly so as to draw attention, he answered hir complaint, "Call me what you will, I never said you couldn't." Smiling, he thoughtfully tapped a bloom against his nose for a moment then rose to face Crystal once more, "Please mix them?"

Kaoru turned red eyes onto Cyr's pink ones, a faint smile touching those girlish lips. "I want to call you what you prefer." Speaking again, a little louder so Crystal wouldn't be too confused, "Your name is so cool! I already said that."

The woman was, indeed, a little baffled, having missed all of the exchange save for Kaoru's last words. Misty eyes shifted between the two, not sure what had passed but not fearing for the worst; both seemed content. Crystal inclined her head, smiling sweetly before moving back towards the counter. "It'll be just a minute while I prepare them for you, Cyralthein!"

Chuckling quietly in a knowing manner like a mother humoring the child, Kaoru shook those curly locks, watching the older woman move with keen eyes. She was always very polite and smiling as though nothing was wrong, despite the Scent's intuition. Offhandedly, the child remarked loftily, "They really are pretty mixed."

"Indeed." Cyr replied as he watched her move off, expression thoughtful. After a moment, he tossed his head and regarded Kaoru. He did hope Arcanos would like these flowers.. especially with the mention of Valentine's that seemed to crop up everywhere. The idea appealed to the Shifter, who again, had never celebrated such a holiday.

Spread the love seemed to be the message and he laughed quietly. "Perhaps you could visit my work then.... see what we have to offer. Apparently another holiday is approaching and I would appreciate the company."
PostPosted: Wed Feb 13, 2008 10:39 am

The child perked up at the mention of visiting Cyr again. Quite frankly, that would be a complete and total joy. "I'd like that," Kaoru replied honestly. "Where do you work? I bet it's somewhere awesome!" The smile that formed was wide and earnest, childish mind working overtime at imagining what the pink-eyed man could possibly do for a living. "I don't think mom has any plans for Valentine's Day." The smile faded into a disapproving frown; with two guys in her life, you'd think one of them would have taken advantage of the day.

"What's this about Valentine's Day?" Crystal arched dark brow at Kaoru, and it was more than a little scrutinizing. If her daughter was planning something, the woman would no doubt have to be prepared...although that wasn't her immediate concern right now. No, the crimson-bottomed vase full of two-tone roses, accented with strategically placed Forget-Me-Nots was her current priority. She placed the vase on the counter, absently fluffing at the green frauns that lined the lovely mixture, a gentle smile touching her seashell lips. "Aracnos will be stunned," she said to Cyr, recalling his companion's name. At least, that's who she assumed the flowers were for, and no doubt she'd be corrected if she had made a mistake.

"Stardust, a quaint little jewelery store where my experience and skills come in hand." He winked, "I know quite a bit about gems and minerals in general, you see. Mmm... I don't either." He glanced up as Crystal re-entered the room and offered a grateful smile as he nodded at her comment. "They look wonderful! He'll love them, I'm sure."

He fluffed the blooms as well, regarding her for a moment, "No need to worry, Crystal. Your lovely daughter hasn't laid any traps for you. Merely discussing plans for Valentine's Day, and visiting my work if you were so inclined." He nodded at that, stepping back to admire the flowers once more.
