Venat the Undying Saint Angel 07 -xXGodslayer_RaiXx- Saint Angel 07 -xXGodslayer_RaiXx- I don't honestly believe in the bible. I believe in the ten commandments and thats about it. Simply because the bible contradicts itself. Love thyself as thou wouldst love thy neighbor. And then it takes about how gays are sinners. It also talks about oppressing women and how women should listen to men and become their slaves. This goes against my personal beliefs as a women's rights activist. That and I don't think God intended for women to be treated as less than human. He wanted us to have something more in life. Or that's what I believe abyways.
Whether or not you believe in the Bible, it is our life source. This is, after all, a Christian guild. Yes, there are non-Christian posters, but thats fine, they know what they are getting into when posting in the guild. We, as Christians, will not ignore Biblical principles because some do no believe it.
So, as a debate, I have presented my argument. And the excuses(or anything similar) of "The Bible is irrelevant", "I don't believe in the Bible", or "The Bible isn't real" are null and void in this guild. Seeing as how, as I have stated, this is a Christian guild.
You don't have to believe in the bible and not be Christian. And it's not an excuse its a fact. How do you expect me to read something that I do not think should be used in this context or debate? How do you know that what they say is true? How do you know that its not just fabricated lies? How do you know that its not based on THEIR opinions and not God's? You don't. You can't assume that everything that's written in the bible is true. And saying PWNAGE at the end of an arguement or debate is not only rude but is extremely childish. The same goes for rubbing things in other people's faces. I just do it as payback. Karma: what comes around goes around. I admit, putting pwnage was a childish thing. But it was in response to your arrogant tone. And the pompous underlaying of your chosen words. And its by Faith that I believe. And I find your reasoning slighly contradictory. Christians are to be Christ-like. How are you to be that when you have no reference as to what that is. I do agree, and by only following said 10 commandments, you are actually disobeying some of Christs latter teachings. But I'm not the only one. There people out there who misinterpret what the bible said. Therefore by misinterpreting it they spread those misinterpretations and that's what leads us to others claiming that God hates gays. That woman should stay at home and take care of the kids. I think of the bible as more as a guide to Chrisitanity and those who read it should not take what is said and practice in everyday life. There is a reason why there is the establishment clause (Seperation of Church and State) But of course that is my personal belief. And if you think that what I believe in "isn't right" or "goes against Christ" Well excuse me for expressing my opinions and what I believe in. Like I said in my introduction post if you read it carefully, I am not apart of any denomination of Christianity nor I am a textbook example as to what a Christian should be. I do not follow the ways of others I follow my own. I follow my own path. So I'm sorry for being the black sheep, but really I think God made me the way I am.

Christians are to be Christ-like. How are you to be that when you have no reference as to what that is. I'm not directing this to you but I would rather be a arrogant than ignorant. And how do you know that Christ was pure? He could have been the most horrible person. It's only speculation seeing as how we don't actually know for a fact as to how he lived. The bible is the piece of proof that we have that he existed at some point of time. The only proof and only literal depiction. Now I know of some people who act very not so Christ-like. If you look at the pro-lifers and anti-gay marriage pro-deporting illegal immigrants. Everything they say seems so not Christ-like. They spew nothing but hatred towards the other groups. I don't think God nor Christ himself could've planned on that. Nor do I think the apostles ever though that this would ever happen. Now I don't believe in most parts of the bible. I have said that I do believe in the Ten Comandments because its basic common sense and logic. However if I were to read the bible I would highlight and annotate it and see which parts contradict the others. (Basically analyze it). But of course that has to do with how I was raised. I was raised to question everything and that includes religion. Not follow it blindly. If you think I offened you with my last thought than I'm sorry. I am making a general statement based on my observations. I must say, I agree with you on the anti-gay marriage, illegal-immigrant deporting thing. I don't feel that the Bible can be taken word for word in places. But I haven't read the whole Bible, so I wouldn't know.

What world do you live in? I'd like to come visit. People are ostracized every single day from places everywhere for exactly that reason.
Everything in the Bible, as it was written, is true. If anything, ANYTHING, in the Bible was untrue, then the entire premise of Christianity is gone. If the Word of God is not absolute truth, then there's no point in being a Christian. You don't get to pick and choose what you will and will not believe. You can have it all, or none, but there's no middle ground.
And if people spread hate, that's them, not Christianity. If people interpret or pervert the Scriptures, then does that mean that the Bible is wrong? No, it means that someone perverted the words that are written out of context. There are radicals, and there are those who use something that is said in the Bible to further their own evil purposes, but that doesn't make the bible wrong, it makes them wrong.

Rai,
You said you don't believe the Bible, but you claim to have a relationship with Jesus/God. This is something a preacher said yesterday.
The Bible is the Word of God, The Word is God, The Word is Jesus.
If you do not know God's Word, then you do not know God.
