Karasu, who had rather thought the Aeri had gone nuts until he’d explained what he was about, got to his hooves. “Sure, why not,” he said with a shrug. So... just shove the sand around hu? Lucius was onto a second ditch type thing already. Frowning thoughtfully to himself, the goldish-maned Bae paced over to the completed channel and the excavated sand that had been pushed unevenly up behind it. ...How was he actually going to do this? Frown deepening, Karasu reached out with a forehoof and pawed at the sand closest to him until he had managed to shove into into a fairly closely packed hump. There didn't really seem to be that much to it actually.
“You’re pretty smart, hu?” the Bae commented as he moved on down the channel and heaped up more sand. “Don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who’d think of something like this before.” Most people would just sleep standing and put up with wet hooves. Not bony Lucius though, apparently. Perhaps he was worth keeping some vague kind of contact with; Karasu knew that he was no slouch in the brain department himself, but he also knew a smarter creature then himself when he met one and wasn’t so proud that he’d rather avoid them. A thinker like this stallion could be a useful ally to have, very useful. He’d have to make an effort not to be too abrasive... but that wouldn’t be enough to secure an alliance by itself. Humm...
“Y’ know,” the white-eyed stallion said slowly as he finished the first wall and moved onto the next channel. “Once I manage to get up off this beach I could keep an eye out for this Vox guy if you like. I mean, it’s not like it’d cost me anything to keep my eyes open and to ask about, right?” Not bad, if he did say so himself; even if nothing came of his offer of help doubtless Lucius would be grateful that the offer and the effort had been made. It seemed that he was a bit alone in his little hunt, and no matter how diligently one Nequus might search, there was only so much ground that could be covered alone. Smiling slightly, the Bae paused in his sand-packing and awaited a response.

Lucius, who had just finished making the last ditch, paused and smiled. “Thank you,” he said softly with a nod of his head, “I would appreciate that greatly.” Anotehr set of eyes looking out for Vox, another set of ears listening for news... It made it seem a little more possible that he would find his son again. Perhaps he would be luck enough to recruit others in his search in the future, or perhaps Karasu’s assistance would be enough... Wait. Humm; once he got up off the beach. Quite problematic with only one wing. Lucius had a solution in mind already but... Would it be an awkward thing to offer?... Well the white-eyed Bae had just offered him help, surely there was no harm in reciprocating.
“I can scout out a route for you to climb back up if you want,” the Aeri said eventually, averting his eyes from the one-winged Bae and setting about making a wall for the ditch he had just completed. “I know the area quite well so I’ve a fair idea of where it might be feasible.” Though Karasu had seemed snappy and unpleasant at first, Lucius now found himself doubting that the smaller Nequus would get angry at such an offer; he didn’t quite seem the sort so caught up in pride that he would refuse help when he needed it.

Well there you had it; perfect. The one winged Bae smiled in return and went back to building the wall he was working on. “Thanks,” he said with a nod, “that’d be a great help. I came down... quite a ways back, if there’s anywhere closer I can climb up that’d be great.” Had it really been as easy as that? It seemed that it had; now he and Lucius had a... well not a friendship but a friendly acquaintance going. It was fair to assume that if he ever needed the sharp-minded stallion’s help, it would be offered without hesitation. Oh he might have to do other things for Lucius too, but that was okay. He couldn’t see the big stallion needing help with situations that might put health in danger after all; even in the near darkness he could see the definition of muscles under the stallion’s sleek black coat and those bones, creepy though they were, had to make for pretty good armour. No, if Lucius needed his help again it would probably be in a similar vein to the help he’d already offered; finding people and such. Seemed like a good deal to Karasu.
“Well,” the black Bae said, looking back over at the cave’s other occupant as he finished his sand wall, “guess we might as well get some sleep.” Gods he was tired; he hadn’t really noticed until now but that mad dash along the beach had taken a lot out of him. Rest was definitely in order if the wanted to be able to clamber back up the cliffs tomorrow morning.

Lucius finished packing the last bit of sand into place and nodded. “Yes,” he agreed, pacing to the back of the cave, “sleep sounds good...” Humm, the obsidian. Best to put it back into its hiding place lest he forget, or lest a truly huge wave decided to come in and swamp them before pulling the precious black thing out to sea with it. This in mind, the orange-winged stallion closed his teeth about it and shoved it back into its hollow. Satisfied that it was secure, the tall Nequus stepped back and regarded it thoughtfully. He could hardly see it now the cave was so dark but he knew it was there, and that provided nobody stole it it would remain there until he could bring Vox back to this cave and give it to him.
Sighing contentedly, the boned stallion settled himself back down in the sand and gave Karasu a smile. “Good night Karasu, rest well.” Today, Lucius considered as he closed his eyes and shifted into a slightly more comfortable position, had turned out to be a pretty good day after all. He would find Vox, he was sure of that now rather than just sure he wouldn’t give up; it was just a matter of time. He would be patient. He would find his son, sooner or later, he would find him. Smiling faintly to himself, the strongly built Aeri drifted towards a peaceful sleep.

Karasu yawned and nodded, moving over to the back of the cave as he did so. “Yea,” he said as he cast himself down in the sand a little way away from Lucius, “g’night.” Shuffling about until he had made himself a comfortable dent in the grains, the one-winged Bae smiled to himself. He’d made a good ally for himself today, an ally he wouldn’t have even met if he’d been able to simply fly away. The black coated stallion gave another yawn and closed his heavy eyelids. For once, he considered as sleep crept up on him, being a one-winged cripple had actually paid off. About damn time it did too.
