Istaqa would only laugh if he could as his teeth dug into the root of the soquili's tail in a grinding motion. As the stallion spun and twisted to try and reach him, he merely tugged the male's backside to the opposite direction in a funny little dance across the grassy floor. Seeing as Tloc's teeth couldn't possibly reach the point of attachment, Istaqa used this to his advantage to lash out with his hindclaws every instance he would feel the wind of the stallion's snapping jaws near his own rear.

He could keep this up all day long but he knew he'd have to change tactics soon. For one, the stallion was by no means confused beyond comprehension and secondly this playful game of tug-of-war was just not satisfying enough. The damage it caused was nothing compared to his desire.

Tlocatl, seeing his effort was not working, tried something else. The tugging on his poor tail only made him decide ever faster to take more drastic measures. The move would possibly hurt him more than his opponent, but really, what choice did he have? While he wouldn't die from a loss of tail, the pain was getting to be too much.

The stallion reared up again, but instead of just rearing, he did it to flip over. The idea was to rear too high, lose balance and land on his back. Sure, it would hurt even more, but it was a desperate move, one that would leave him vulnerable for a split second.

Istaqa held fast to the stallion's bucking, confident that he had the upper hand in the ever-evolving confrontation between the two. What he hadn't expected was such a self-destructive motion in order to loosen his hold on the vulnerable part of the soquili's body, and if asked later would regretfully admit that the kolona had caught him by surprise. Before he could realize, the skinwalker's head was shadowed by the giant statue of the rearing soquili.

The half-tonne weight came barreling down before he could effectively dodge out of the way and although he had luckily avoided a skull-crushing blow as the kolona collapsed onto his back, his forepaw had been too slow to avoid the rest. Shrieking in rage, the skinwalker dug at the ground and pulled relentlessly at his pinned limb, potentially causing more damage than good. Only after successfully breaking free did the furred devil utter any sound of pain as he shuddered, gingerly holding the paw in the air.

Seeing the downed kolona however, renewed his drive to create carnage and it wasn't long before he half-hobbled, half-loped towards Tlocatl to tear at the soquili's exposed belly.

Tlocatl would have been foolish to not recognize and accept how vulnerable he was down and rolled over. The minute he was on the ground and released from the hold of him opponent, the stallion worked to get back to his feet.

Before he could successfully gather his strength and balance, Tlocatl found the coyote-soquili coming towards him. Even limping, he was faster than the kalona, and the stallion hissed as he felt the teeth tear through his side. He refused to take the damage quietly, and continued to struggle to his feet even while the other crowded and prevented any relief. Tlocatl thrashed feet, hooves, wings, horns, and teeth.... trying anything to free from this demon of a creature of coyote and soquili.

Istaqa cackled a gritty, cold laugh as he ducked the flailing hooves and snapped at the soft belly of the exposed kalona. The beast was rising to his feet again but not before he would deal as much damage as possible. Fangs dripped with the stallion's blood as he worked at the wounds which, though not deadly, would be of great discomfort. In a final motion, the skinwalker raised himself up and dropped both his forepaws onto the beast's belly and proceeded a rapid raking of his claws through the flesh. His wounded leg was weakened very much but his healthy leg struck a blow to his liking.

A clonk of a hoof against the furred-one's skull sent him reeling back, shaking his head to clear the bright flash of light from his vision upon impact. Thrashing his coyote tail, he strayed off to the side and waited while circling slowly.

Tlocatl got one successful hit in, even while he could feel the claws scraping his ribs and bones. Each movement made was agonizing, and it seemed the blackness was creeping in from the corners of his vision. He would not die! There was no way he would allow such a thing to happen.

It was a moment before he realized that there was nothing tearing in, well how was he supposed to recognize old wound from new? His pelt soaked in blood, the stallion struggled to his feet. One foot slipped and he fell back down, but another attempt came with victory. Tlocatl was shaking on his feet, sore themselves from thrashing blindly so much, his own blood trailing and staining the flattened grass beneath.

He knew he was still not alone, but his mind refused to work properly. Tlocatl sluggishly looked around, searching for his adversary, hoping but not believing that maybe he might survive this encounter. His mind was slow, but his nostrils picked up the scent. The kalona looked around, and caught sight of the coyote-soquili.... he was pacing around him, sure to come in for the next attack.

Istaqa's jaws quivered with expectation, the crimson liquid running down his chin to mix with his own excessive salivation. It felt so good to let the bloodlust take hold, as natural as the air being pushed in and out of his lungs. Every stumble the kalona made sent a rush of adrenaline coursing through the skinwalker so that he could barely recall ever being hit during the entire conflict, despite the twisted paw that dragged along with his lumbering pace.

"I TASTE YOUR BLOOD, COW!!!" The devil roared, the sound garbled by fluid and his ragged breathing. "Soonnnn the worms will feast AS WELL!" He let out a racket, a mixture between a clearly equine shriek and a canine-like snarl. Charging towards the bewildered and wounded Tloc, he grappled with the mass of thorny spines at the kalona's shoulder. Finding a spot not occupied by anything physically harmful, the skinwalker snapped his jaws down on the length of the leathery limb and thrashed his whole body into the motion.

It was simply too much, the destruction of his wing broke through Tlocatl's mind. He could feel the tight sinew snap and retract, the membran stretched until even it could go no further. The wing root was protected and saved from the abuse, but he sure felt every crunch, every crack. He might have fallen unconscious if his will to survive hadn't been there.

A voice yelled and screamed and fought in side him, devastated and enraged at the fraility at his own body. His wing was pulled and yanked, and with each one, Tlocatl fell further in that direction, stumbling to remain on his feet. He didn't know if his body could take much more, as blood dripped and wing throbbed in pain.

One yank was just a bit too much, it ended up throwing Tlocatl towards the coyote-soquili in mid-thrash. The stallion collapsed on his side, his right side... his wing crumpled underneath, painful and useless.

With a growl of determination, the kalona crawled back to his feet. If he was to die, it would be standing up - no matter how much his body told him it may not be possible.

Istaqa retracted from the stumbling soquili as he fell to the ground once again, watching intently as he paced backwards unable to stand still. Eyes were ablaze like two pits into a raging fire within his skull as he circled the kalona once again, almost able to see the energy and life draining from the soquili's body. His intention was to wear this beast down into the ground. Tear it to shreds and splay its contents miles across the land for the sole purpose of defiling it of an honorable death. The clawed legs began taking tentative steps towards the courageous kolona who clung to his pride even now, until a sharp sound caught the skinwalker's attention.

A sharp, shrill honk from the dying deer who still seeped blood from a wound almost entirely empty. Its last sounds were airy breathes as it struggled to carry its voice from its vocal cords in a pathetic plea. It was an intoxicating sound, the sound of death gripping and strangling the life from a normally-thriving beast. Istaqa found himself turning, distracted from his original goal to stalk towards the dead deer as it finally lay as a limp carcass on the soaked earth.

Tlocatl long lost interest in the dying deer, more intent on his own life. His head was raised and his eyes watched the coyote-soquili, expecting that one last action that would end his life. He would not falter, for it was a good death, was it not? To end in battle.....

But that seemed it would not be today. At the cry of the young pricket, his harbringer of death moved to the other direction.

Tlocatl would not wait for him to return, he would leave. He could not fly, his broken wing a limp reminder, and while he was torn apart and bleeding onto the world his legs and feet (while shaken up) could still work.

Lurching forward unsteadily, Tlocatl blindly ran away.... though ran was too kind a word. Without looking back, he went for the tree line. Usually a place of frustration and risk from the sky, the forest would today be his sanctuary. Maybe, if he got far enough away the coyote-soquili would not come for him. Maybe he could find a way, a river perhaps, to mask his scent the demon could not follow. Maybe he might yet survive this day. Maybe.
