Karn1254 ok I've given this a million times now... Sephiroths name is the plural of Sephirot, a Sephirot is a circle on a tree (from some religion not really a tree) The name of the tree (which also sounds like sephiroth) has Sephirots on it, ten which all follow some divine path of the gods. This makes sense because Sephiroth wants to become a devine god. there I think thats it. yep thats sephiroths. I just couldn't think of away of explaining it

Pierre42 I KNEW IT!!! All main characters have weather names I think. Cloud Squall (I'm sure it is something to do with wind) Now I know Tidus is Sun! Then there's Terra... that's earth. Don't know about Cecil, though, I'm afraid, or Hero. xd The most obvious one to me is Shiva. Quetzacoatl, too, but that's been said. Shiva is a Hindu god of destruction, usually with multiple arms. Something to do with dancing. I'm afraid that I don't know too much about it.

Yes she is a god of destruction but Shiva is the Hindu god of dance and destruction and is male (I think) and also use fire not ice so kinda strange

Some dude told me that the original Japanese spells her name "Siva." People have indicated that Siva is actually a Slavic goddess whose name is pronounced "Shiva" or "sheeva", and whose name means "living, being, existing". That would explain the female part. Saying that i haven't really found anything to support this theory And just for you pierre Wakka means means "water" in the Ainu language.
