Ailin had to admit, the Hackers were cute, even if they did ask a fair too many questions, too fast. He wondered if they were always like that, or if all Hackers behaved in that manner, but wasn't entirely certain if the lass across from him would even know. She'd seemed unsure about even showing them to him, and he didn't want to press her too hard. Besides, he had other matters to attend to, or, was supposed to be tending to.

Smiling at the affectionate tone with which Xinai spoke to her Hackers, he wondered at their relationship. If there was one thing he thought the lass would excel in, aside from art, he figured it was handling kids. She did so well with the hyper creatures on her computer, he could only imagine how she might deal with actual children. Raising a hand in a small wave as the Hacker said its goodbyes, he raised an eyebrow at the lass in silent question concerning its behavior. Not really wanting to delve too deeply at the moment, especially not with her giving him that considering look.

Maybe she'd caught on to the way he spoke about Fiach? Wouldn't be too hard, now that he thought of it - he wasn't exactly hiding his feelings, just not stating them straight forward. As the lass asked her next question, Ailin felt a small pang of regret hit him once again. With a small shake of his head, and an almost embarrassed smile, he found himself once again being honest, having already realized the lass wouldn't let him lie easily, she was good at this game, a bit too good. "He knew that I knew o' this lad, but that's all. Probably assumed I'd work with him in a shelter, previously."

Though, all in all, Ailin wasn't even sure the man knew Fiach had been in trouble before he met him. Wasn't quite sure about a lot of things regarding Brian's relationship with Fiach. And that had him slightly uneasy, but when asked to do a favor for him...he hadn't been able to refuse. The old man had done him a kind turn, anyway. Nodding, he added a belated, mostly muttered, "Its more ironic than ye think, lass."

Watching as she picked up her pencil and began to work once more, he was surprised when she spoke to him again, recalling her previous expression of disliking interruptions. Glad that her attention was elsewhere for the time being, a small frown touched his lips as his brow furrowed.

Just how interested was he in locating Fiach, and quickly?

Absently, his hand raised to tap at his chin while he thought, before he finally gave the lass a shrug. "Well, lass, I suppose I'd rather get home sooner than later, so any time that's a good time for ye will work well for me." Besides, better he dealt with it before he let his mind wander away with him concerning the situation, than to run into the boy later and have thought too much.

"Shelter?" Xai echoed, attention distracted by the implications behind that single word. What exactly had it been that Ailin did back home? Up until now, she had had an impression that the man before her was mostly harmless in a slightly aimless sort of way, but this hinted at some purpose to life that indicated a certain level of depth. "Well......." she paused thoughtfully, considering her next words as she looked back down at the sketchpad in front of her, "we could start now, if you'd like? I'll most likely be here for a while."

The offer was made in all seriousness - Xai anticipated she'd be here for a while yet while her inspiration was flowing and she was in a pleasant mood. The touch of intrigue about the other sitting across from her seemed to only add to her creativity, and she added a few flourishes and movement strokes to her sketch as she waited for Ailin's response.

Ironic or otherwise, her curiosity was piqued now, and she wanted to be involved in this search for the lost friend that seemed to share such a intriguing history with the man in front of her. Perhaps that way she'd be able to learn a little more as well. She knew full well that it had no relation to herself, but other people's histories, backgrounds and such had always fascinated her, and she pulled from them as a skilled harpist selected strings in order to create backgrounds of her own for the characters in her own artwork. There was nothing more realistic than reality, in any case.

The sketch was rapidly forming into a figure of mystery, back turned towards the viewer with a cloak and hood hiding most of the figure's facial features. It was an apt reflection of the situation, in Xai's opinion, and a slight giggle escaped her as she studied it.
