Oh, oh, oh, we're high up...really, really high up....
Julian hugged himself around the shoulders rather tightly, glancing out the helicopter window to the water below. His already pale face was blanched to an ivory white, his lips drawn tightly together.
He very much so hated flying - in fact, heights in general made him quite anxious. Crystal green eyes slowly moved to look at the large, intimidating pilot, short fingernails digging into his own shoulders through his thin black turtleneck.
"...Does...does it always...sh-shake like this?" His voice was raised only enough to be heard, but it was apparent he was afraid.

"Of course it does" James sighed as he sped the helicopter towards it's destination.
James was a nice guy, he really was, but he didn't have a lot of tollerance, especially not when on board with a scaredy cat. James cursed at himself for not thinking of a better word to use.
Since he'd picked the man up, the man had been a nervous wreck. That kind of attitude made James nervous. Someone cocky, you knew what they were gonna do, but people like this were unpredicable. James wondered how this young man would handle what Moreau had in store.
James sighed again, thinking on all of this. Then he spoke up "Not too much further now... what did you say you were anyway?" it was odvious to James that the man needed calming down and asking questions might be just the way to do that.

Messy black bangs tumbled into the young man's face as the helicopter gave a particularly strong jolt - he cringed, shutting his eyes for a moment before answering the pilot in his timid tone.
"...A wr-writer. I wr-write children's b-books."
He glanced out the window again, whimpering a little bit.
...Aah! I really shouldn't look down....

"Children's books eh?" James chuckled. "Published anything? Something I could send to my kids back home?"
James shrugged a bit, he was looking foward to having this trip over. He felt a twinge of morals hit him. He''d done a lot of things in his life, some of them he didn''t want to think too much about. He would feel bad if he''d just kidnapped the next J.K. Rowlings though.
Still, this man didn't seem to have a lot of confidence, and if there was one thing James had learned in his 43 years, it was confidence bleeds into anything. James consoled himself in the fact that he probably wasn't going to be having some huge impact on the world of children's fiction.

With another nervous little whimper, he glanced back to the pilot, moving a hand up to fidget with his pocket watch.
"...Well...no. The...th-the publishers I've gone to haven't...th-they didn't like m-my work...."
In truth, his stories had been a bit too...odd. Julian was a sweet man, but...sometimes, things he thought were beautiful came across as strange and eerie to everyone else.

"Sorry to hear that, maybe I can get copies from you sometime." James smiled as they approached the island. From a distance you could see the mountain, and the cliffside, and of course Dr. Moreau's huge facilities.
"Comming in for a landing..." as James pulled the helicopter towards the helipad. Well, here they were. James was glad to see the young man go, though he had grown to like him a little bit.
The helicopter landed, the whirling blades making it nessary to speak loudly, not that that was a problem for James. "Dr. Moreau should be around for you shortly, just wait here." He waited for the man to leave the helicopter so he could take back off. The less time James spent here the better in his opinion.

"Maybe."
He shut his eyes tight as the helicopter landed - but he calmed considerably once it touched down. He climbed down out of the whirring machine, offering a little smile and a timid wave back to James.
"THANK YOU," he shouted, trying to be heard over the blades. He was a softspoken man, so when he raised his voice, it sounded strange even to him.

The helicopter whirled away as James didn't bother to give any kind of response to Julian. He was just eager enough to leave the island. Of course the doctor was to be along shortly. Wasn't he? The waiting went on much longer than it was supposed to one hour became two, two became three. Still the doctor had not shown up.

Julian was getting worried - what if this whole thing was a hoax or scam? But...why would it be? After all, he didn't have anything to steal - and there wasn't any reason for anyone to want to see him hurt.
After the first hour, he had pulled up the back of his turtleneck, pulling a worn paperback from where it was tucked into his belt. Seating himself on the ground, cross-legged, he read aloud to himself. This story always calmed his nerves...and that's just what he needed at the moment.
"'The sun was shining on the sea, shining with all his might, he did his very best to make the billows smooth and bright...and this was odd, because it was the middle of the night....'"
After the second hour, he had given up the periodic glances around the area - when this man came, he would know...surely he would know.
If only he wasn't so absorbed in the book.

Eventually a Jeep engine was heard as it pulled toward the helipad. It pulled out of the brush in a hurry and barely stopped in time to not hit the man who was sitting there.
"What are you doing sitting in the middle of a Helipad?" Moreau sighed as he stepped out of the Jeep. Looking down at the man, this was the writer he'd heard about? He had not expected him to look so... frail.

A loud yelp escaped him as the Jeep pulled up so quickly and so close to him - he jumped to his feet, the book clutched tight in one spidery hand.
"W-w-well, I've been waiting here f-for a few...." He looked down at his pocket watch for a moment, then back at the man who was addressing him. "...Hours. I'm s-sorry if I shouldn't have sat down...."
Indeed, he was frail - tall, pale, and comprised of skin and bones. And his voice didn't help - it was small and nervous.

"I see... I was busy in the lab, time must have gotten away from me." Moreau paused for a moment looking over the skinny young man.
"Julian... Vorpalle? The writer I've had communications with correct?" Moreau paused for a moment but already knew he was right. "I'm glad you've come to my island, I liked your portfolio, your stuff is odd and I like that."
Dr. Moreau smiled a wide smile. "I'm sure you'll find a lot of odd things to write about here." Moreau said with almost a sinister note. "Well, get in the Jeep, lets go." he said as if there was suddenly something urgent to do.

He wasn't sure exactly why, but that little comment made Julian quite nervous. Shutting his book and tucking back into his belt behind him, he edged toward the Jeep.
"...Um...well, it's better than the helicopter," he commented lamely. He climbed into his seat, buckling in and chewing a bit on his lip.

The Jeep drove towards the facility, the conversation seeming to have disappeared as Moreau had a look on his face as if he were a man with a mission. As they came out from the underbrush and Julian got his first look at the facility. Large silver buildings towered at the mountain side, with a fence surrounding them, but nearby you could see the uniformish "town" facilities Moreau had set up.
Moreau's Jeep barralled towards the tall heavy looking fence. The gate not opened as it looked like for a moment that Moreau intended to crash it into the gate. At near the last moment the gate opened itself automatically to allow Moreau's jeep passage. Moreau parked in the parking facilities right outside the tallest lab building.
"We're here..." he grinned and said.

Julian gazed at the surroundings as they drove along, marvelling at the enormity of the buildings. It was so...beautiful. At least, to Julian it was - the underbrush melting away into the neat, orderly rows of buildings.
His reverie was cut short, however, as he thought they were going to crash into the gate.
Letting out a rather un-masculine yelp, he covered his eyes...until the Jeep came to a stop and the Doctor spoke. Relaxing a bit, he undid his seatbelt, craning his neck to look up at the building that towered before him.
"...Wow...."
