VII. Chapters
CHAPTER I:
First Day
(Just outside of Bramalea High...)
"But mom I don't need so mu-", Kai was cut off by his mother's smothering butterfly kisses on his cheeks, the boy blushing as his mother continued to pepper him with affection. "MOM! I'm not a kid anymore!", he finally had enough (though secretly he relished the affection his mother shows him, just like any boy does in reality), giving her mom a kiss of his own upon her forehead as he stepped out of the family car. "Hoooooeee may gawdddd!!! KAI!!!", a female's voice was immediately heard as the boy made his way for school, grinning at the star-struck female student to acknowledge her screaming announcement of his return to school.
Oh this is gonna be one hell of a year.....

Rachel Weston Smith. That was the girl laying on her stomach on her bed. She was reading an exciting novel as the dawn's radiant sun rose. Using a booklight, she was already on Chapter 7. She had only started the novel a day ago. It was so good though! Very addicting. Rae smiled as she twirled a strand of her dirty blonde hair idly, reading. The words formed vivid mental pictures in her head, the magic of the story seeming to come to life. Her mother's sweet voice rang out, "Rae? Are you getting ready for school?"
"Ah!" Rae jerked up from her bed, tumbling down to the floor with a little blush flushing her cheeks. "I am getting ready now!" she called out to her mother. Rae slapped her self-made bookmark (covered with manga doodles) into her novel, and then got dressed. She donned a baggy sweatshirt with a childish smiley face on the front, and a school-girl-ish blue mid-length skirt. Rae tied a red ribbon in her hair, sort of making her long blonde hair in half an updo and half down. She slipped on white knee-high socks and her new sneakers. She then grabbed her already-organized-and-ready backpack, and her book...and then ran downstairs to eat breakfast. Her mother had already made breakfast, and Rae hurriedly ate her egg omelette. Her mother sighed and said, "Rae...what is the rush? There's still a while until school starts."
Rae glanced at the clock and replied, "There's not that much time, Mom. But I suppose you're right..." Rae grinned as she finished her omelette and then gulped down her orange juice. With her backpack slung over her shoulder, Rae ran outside...and then tripped over a rock. She quickly stopped her self from falling face-down by sort of half-kneeling and half flapping her arms. She smiled sheepishly and murmured, "Mom..?" Her mother soon ran out with a little sigh and opened up the car door.
***
Rae hugged her mom tight, and then kissed her on the cheek. "Farewell!" she said with a happy-go-lucky air.
"Bye!" her mother replied. Rae hugged her novel to her chest, and then stepped out of the car. The sigh that escaped her lips was half relief and half a biting sadness. She loved school...since learning was power. Knowledge never came to the person...the person had to seek the knowledge she wanted. But...the mean bullies of school never stopped bugging Rae. And Rae was usually annoyed with the dimwits that couldn't find anything better to do than make fun of her. With a forced smile, Rae marched into school. This year shall be different! she announced silently to herself. I don't care what others think. I never did, and I never will. I will keep on being myself...and everything will work out. Once inside the school, Rae sort of...tripped. Again. Second trip this morning, and the day was still very, very young. Hopefully, Rae added with a rosy blush clouding her cheeks.

Michelle Van Buren rolled over in bed, trying to locate the source of that annoying beeping. She slowly opened her eyes and realized that it was the first day of school. With a small groan, she rolled out of her bed and clicked off her alarm clock. Mitch quickly showered and pulled on some clothes from her black hole of a closet. Throwing on some old Chucks, Mitch put far too many books into her backpack for the first day of school. Or any other day of school. As she went downstairs, she pulled on a sweater that didn't match anything else she was wearing. One or two pieces of buttered toast later, Mitch said goodbye to her mother and got into her car to drive to school.
As she pulled into the parking lot, Mitch turned off her radio, even though it was in the middle of one of her favorite songs. As she killed the engine, she popped the trunk and opened her door. She stuck her keys haphazardly into the pocket of her faded, kneeless jeans as she stooped slightly to pick up the overstuffed, purple backpack. She started off toward the school, and as she walked, she saw Kai. She turned more in his direction, and blushed as she realized what she was doing.

It was Kai, with his head tilted to the side and a charming dimpled smile on his lips as he brushed off some of the dirt upon the girl's skirt. "There, you look good as new!", he said genially, stepping back abit to give Rae a good admiring look before he scrunched up his eyes as if to contemplate. "Hmmmm I don't think I've seen you around Bramalea before, you new here?...", but before he could here an answer he saw a familiar face in the crowd, "Look I gotta go, hope to run into you again once more...", winking at Rae before he started jogging away from the girl as he shouted, "Hey! Mitcchhh!!!"

Rae didn't even say anything... but luckily someone helped her up. She thought to herself silently, This year probably will be different. At her old school, nobody ever helped her when she tripped or dropped her books or anything. In fact, at her old school she had no friends... just a few acquaintances here and there. That was about it. Anyhow, Rae smiled at the guy who helped her, but he left just as soon.
"Thanks!" she called after him. I wonder what his name is... she wondered. Oh well...Whatever.
Rae hugged her novel tighter to her chest for a moment, thinking. She was interrupted by her thoughts as a stampede of people rushed through by her. She stumbled a bit, and sighed as she followed the crowd, walking. Then, her gaze was continually averted to her book that was held tight in her arms. Her eyes wore torn away...but were pulled back to the book cover like gravity. You can never defy gravity for long. Rae grinned, and then flipped open her book to where she had left off, cleverly...and shockingly not clumsily... reading as she walked. She didn't stumble even once! This was a strange skill she had acquired when she was 12. She read so often while walking, not wanting to waste time, and had gotten used to it. She tripped every so often, of course, but not too often.

"You better be careful...or you will run into a wall or something beautiful...", a male voice whispered to Rae's left ear, not mockingly but in fact, sounding actually concerned. And as Rachell turned around to see the face the soft voice belonged to, she was met by a boy with a cheerful grin in his lips, grayish white hair attractively cascading over his very femininely tilted eyes. It was obvious that the male was of the badass category, considering the top buttons of his shirt was unbuttoned to expose his toned chest with a silver cross dangling upon his neck, but also the fact that he had the brashness to whisper into the ear of a girl he doesn't even know. "Eiji...Eiji Wentz is my name...", the boy answered Rae's silent question, sticking his hand out to take hers as he continued, "And you are m'lady?"

Rae was taken back by the voice in her ear, but she hastily kept her composure. She smiled weakly and whispered timidly back, "Hello, my name is Rachel...but most people call me Rae." If they remember me at all... thought Rae silently with a heaving sigh. It's my first day at school, and people are already talking to me. That's a start. At her old school, nobody noticed Rae. People mainly just ignored her; she was just that geeky girl no one wanted to associate with. Apparently at this school it was much, much different.
Anyhow, to be honest, she was a bit frightened by Eiji. Eiji was just a bit...intimidating. She sighed again, and sheepishly scuffed her shoes on the ground, and brushed backa flyaway strand of dirty blonde hair. "Well.. to be honest, I am not sure where I am supposed to be heading... I really don't want to be late for homeroom," explaineded Rae softly, not able to meet Eiji's eyes and instead, stared at the ground. She obviously did not have much social experience, but she vowed silently to herself that she would be less shy here on out. She actually could be quite talkative if anybody wanted to listen...

"Well what class are you looking for cutie?", Eiji's words spoken softly, leaning upon a nearby wall on his left side with his hands in his pocket. For a moment another female student walked up to him, with Eiji whispering to her ears, sending her giggling and blushing as she walked away from Eiji and Rae. Turning his attention back to the small blonde girl in front of him, he flashed her his best grin once more, seemingly looking embarassed as he apologized, "Well I'm sorry about that, that was just a friend of mine...". Then, extending his hand to Rachel, he asked, "So...want me to give you a tour of Bramalea High?..."

Cyrielle Scheffer had woken up late, due to her annoying brothers switching her alarm off. Sure, she was a record time clothes changer, but it was no excuse. I'll get them back later... Cyrielle thought plottingly to herself. She ran into the school, bending over briefly to catch her breathe. She located Kai in the crowd, and waved to him excitedly. We better have a good season this year. Our school does have it's reputation to uphold. Cy thought. She went over to say hello to some of her friends, then going over to a group of senior guys. All of them were jocks, so Cy started talking to them about the football team, and how they predicted what would happen this season.

"Yo Cy!!", Kai called out of the blue, waving his left hand up to help himself be noticed by Cyrielle from the thick crowd that walked the halls. Pushing himself through the people, he momentarily paused now and then to hi-five an acquaintance or take pictures with a star-struck female student fan of his. When he did finally get to stand in front of Cy, he held his arms up, beckoning her to give him a hug as he spoke, "I haven't seen you for soooooooooooo LONG!"

"Eiji! Where are you?" Akira called loudly, he was getting a little anxious. He had asked him at the end of last year, in perfect English amazingly, though he did stutter a bit, if Eiji would meet him outside the front doors. He hadn't seen Eiji go past the doors yet, and he hadn't heard Eiji's sweet intoxicating laugh. Akira wondered if Eiji had forgotten. It wouldn't be impossible. It would even be probable. Akira cursed himself for his overactive brain.
