"I see, well.. my mother is my other best friend, she's amazing and knows all of the good stories about Finar-si! And I wouldn't know what to do with out her," his voice took on a tone of thrill and excitement. Ripuka was always one for a great story when he asked, and he asked often.

"You could meet her, I bet," Wakia grinned, "You know, if you ever want attention from.. a not-mommy? Maybe we can ask for stories?" He may be a juvenile, but the small cub like thoughts were still present, he was still mother driven, and could easily be bribed to do anything with the prize being a story.

"Or..y'know, I have stories to tell?"

Kiunguza was not best friend material, Lilo was sure about that. Unless somehow Lilo managed to obtain seer abilities, then maybe her mother might appreciate her and be something of a friend. But Lilo didn't need to be a seer to see that that very likely was not going to happen. She was surprised when Wakia offered to share his mother, and while she was intrigued she did her best to show it- and her best wasn't too great, but perhaps better than some cubs might manage.

"What kind of stories?"

"But you said you didn't need someone?" He smirked mischievously but was very willing to explain the stories his mother knew.

"Things about our goddess, and about the pride, about strong brave warriors, and weak cowardly ones..about mothers and daughters, and sons..and all sorts of things! She's such a good storyteller, I bet she could even make one up that you want to hear!" He bragged happily. He hoped one day to be just like her, to have her strength and ideas, to be creative and be able to explain everything in the world, and if she didn't know she knew how to hide it well. He wanted her skill, but above that he wanted her approval, something he thought he did not have, no matter how much she reassured him.

As he spoke Wakia started to pace in the sands, kicking dust around with his paws.

Umlilo rolled her eyes in a very obvious way, "I might like a story without actually needing it, or a mother. You said she's a storyteller, it's her job anyway." Good cover, she told herself mentally. She would like to hear some stories though, especially when Wakia spoke of it with such enthusiasm. She watched him start to pace, following him back and fourth as he did it.

"It's more than a job," he grunted at her stopping in place, "besides everyone NEEDS a good story, like when there is a sand storm and you're frightened," he quickly added," not that I ever get frightened!" Smooth, Wakia, he told himself, she'll think you're a scaredy lion.

"She'll probably tell such an amazing story you'll never want to leave," he bragged and continued his pacing, "Want to hear one of my stories?" He wanted to try one he made up out on her.

Lilo stared at Wakia, noting that he was very passionate about these stories at least. Clearly he had a good relationship with his mother. Either that, or all he had to connect to her was those stories- though that was unlikely the way he spoke. Pausing momentarily, and then sniffing arrogantly, she settled into the sand.

"Ok, prove it," she said, "Impress me."

Wakia was so excited that she agreed to a story that he nearly wet himself with joy. Composing himself only slightly he stopped his pacing and settled in the sands, balancing on his back paws and rump he started to make wide gestures with his paws in circles, like a human story teller.

"Loooooong ago the sun rose on a new day," he wibbled on his back legs and gestured to demonstrate the sun, "and the Goddess she came to a brave warrior, promising him fame and fortune if he would follow her, but he didn't agree.." And and..goodness, I can't remember! This was one of the stories he was making up to try and prove a point, but the moral was not coming to him.

"I don't remember, but it'll be good once I remember and finish it, I promise!"

The small firekin barely managed to hide a roll of her eyes and a sigh when Wakia got very obviously excited before composing himself to tell the story. She was intrigued by his posture, and drawn in by the start of the story- why would anyone turn down fame and fortune? Perhaps he could manage it on his own, he was a brave warrior after all. But it didn't sound like it was going in that direction, the way it trailed off.

And she frowned as she realized the trail was not going to be picked back up.

"Not much of a story without an end," she commented, sounding mildly disappointed.

"Sometimes stories don't end, maybe the warrior is still alive suffering out his days away from the great goddess!" He grunted at her defensively. Besides, /his/ mother was the storyteller, wasn't she? /Her/ mother was not! She had royal blood, but not story teller blood!

"I uh...I'll get back to you sometime about the ending then? Meet me here sometime?"

"Maybe, but that story barely had a beginning, either," Lilo argued calmly, reasoning her way to making her comment as true as she felt it was. After all, Wakia had said he forgot and it would be better when he remembered. He was clearly just trying to save face now.

"I guess we should," she agreed almost carelessly, it would give her something to do, maybe even something to look forward to so why not? "When will you have the rest of the story?"

"Probably by sometime next week, besides, it was an amazing story!" He made the same sort of grunting noise in his defense. His black pelt felt hot in the mid day son and he plopped down on his four legs ready to head out and think about the beginning middle and end of his story.

"I'll meet you here in seven days, I can prove it's a great tale!" Just like Mama's great tales! Maybe she would even help him create the story.

"I probably should run home, maybe Mama will know the end?"

Wakia was giving Umlilo something she'd never really had before, something to really look forward to. Her family was fine and dandy, in it's own way.. if you ignored the seers and her mother. But Wakia was the closest thing she had to a friend, and as much as she might hide it, she was rather intrigued by stories.

"Seven days, then," she agreed, nodding a farewell when he said he should get home.

Wakia nodded excitedly hoping that by then he would have at least a middle of the story. He looked towards the horizon and an idea struck him, adding in the sun would be neat.

Waving a paw in a very human like fashion he took off towards the dune he had slid down to get to her and started his trudge up it making laborious grunts. The black and orange lion may be getting the hang of the sands, but climbing in them still posed a threat.

"See you Lilo!" He shouted loudly as he turned to wave another good by from the top of the first dune.
