"Of course not but I just get that feeling." Axel listened to her even though he wished he could tune her out. He didn't want to hear stuff about relationships or anything that pertained to emotion at all. Taking advantage of the silence, Axel gazed up at the sky and sighed to himself. He wasn't exactly sure what he was feeling right now and he knew this probably wouldn't be the last time he felt this way.
"Yes, it is worse then battling wolves for an eternity. I'd rather get physical scars then emotional ones." The stallion sighed once more. "I still think you're wrong and you should probably get away from me now." Axel stepped away from her, his skin still tingling at her touch. Physical affection wasn't something he allowed and he was surprised that he didn't step back right away. Then again, everything seemed to be a surprise when he was around Wica.

catching herself before she could fall over onto her side as he stepped away, she just watched him for a moment before a spark lit behind her eyes, one that hadn't been there and shouldn't have been there. It was her own anger now, ears twisting themselves back against her head her face puffed up just a bit before she reached out to grab at his mane. Hoping to get a mouthful and just pull! Not really hard enough to yank it from his head, but enough to cause slight pain.
"Is that what you want?" she asked after a moment, "Is that the pain you want? Rather then let someone care about you? In all truths, I consider myself an ugly duckling, I don't hold many qualities of being pretty. I'm a mash of different colors that shouldn't be together. No one ever looks at me as they would a more prettier Mare like my Grandmother, or my cousins."
She huffed, degrading herself. "You say you have no soul and that you are just a bystander to this place. I've got to be the ugliest mare around, yet I pick the most handsome stallion around. Someone who's not littered with marks that could have been from many fights. I may not know what your past was, but I'm not going to give up on you. I will follow you no matter where you go." Stubborn she was, but she wasn't about to let herself get pushed around any longer, she loved him and yet he apparently did not. "Deny it if you will Axel, but I do love you. I don't know how I could prove it truly, but know this much. No stallion holds more shine then you do in my eyes."

Again, Wica surprised Axel with her sudden anger. He could feel his own temper simmering within his body as she grabbed his mane. What the hell was she doing? He didn't react to her sudden movement though and just tried to relax himself. "What the hell is wrong with you?" Axel glanced disdainfully down at her because he wanted to get away. "You shouldn't say that about yourself. You don't see yourself very clearly do you?" Sighing, Axel continued to listen to her speak. He didn't know where she got this sudden temper from... it was probably from being around him too long.
"Do you really want me to tell you how I feel? I'm pretty sure it's obvious so I'd like to save some face by not saying it. But if you feel like you need to hear it..." Axel looked down at the ground trying to pick his words carefully. He wasn't used to others saying anything remotely close to the word 'love' around him. That was such a strange word, could he ever use it?

"Trying to see if you could feel pain or was it just your thick skull keeping you from wanting to feel other emotions then just anger and loneliness. And that you were actually there and not just another fleeting dream that will vanish the moment I open my eyes and find myself alone in the snow." She sighed, though she kept her eyes upon him.
"I'm always the one alone, a stallion could look in my direction and not even see me. Why else would I not think I was Ugly. Just look at me, a mess of colors that seem to have no clear purpose but to look like a mess. When I was little, a colt had called me a sunset over the desert sands, but I doubt I look that way now."
Shaking her head Wica just watched Axel as he seemed to be fighting something within himself. Her head canted to one side as he asked if she wanted to hear what he had to say, well of course she wanted to hear, even if most the stuff he had said before hand seemed to be his views upon her.
"All I know is, is that I've felt like I've been missing something, like a unfinished puzzle of sorts." Wica stated before wanting to hear Axel out. "I've met some stallions, but they already had someone at their sides. A lost soul I had become until finding you. Well almost falling on you rather, if you hadn't been under the tree. I'm still a lost soul hoping for someone to find me..." She stopped, her eyes closing, she didn't think he needed to hear every sappy thing she had to say.

Glaring at her momentarily, Axel's anger evaporated when she spoke. There was no way he could be mad at someone like her. "Maybe this is all a dream. Maybe it's not your's but my nightmare. Everything I've worked so hard to establish in myself has fallen apart because of you." His voice sounded weary and he was obviously picking his words very carefully. He didn't want to say the wrong thing, especially now. "Those stallions obviously are blind or something because you can't possibly be talking about the same mare I see in front of me."
Axel paused slightly and gazed into her eyes for the first time since they had met. "Tell me, do you think I'm in love with you?" His intense emerald eyes burned into her's as he pondered the question too.

Blinking a few times, rapidly, Wica looked what could only have been shock as he spoke about her shattering what he had worked hard to build within himself. Her ears twitched as he spoke of other stallions being blind and that what she was saying about herself had to be another mare. She had considered herself a mess of color, always, even when she was little. Even if her parents told her other wise, that she was very beautiful in their eyes. She didn't think anyone else would see her in that sort of light.
Still a bit stunned, Wica barely heard Axel as her if she thought that he loved her. She didn't know, she couldn't really say, with how he was pushing her away, it didn't seem like it. But she thought about it, about all the different reasons for him to push her away, wondering if it was more for her safety then his own. Like he was worried about hurting her instead of the other way around.
"That is a question I can not answer for you. But if it came down to it, I would have to say yes. Because your pushing me away seems to be you wanting to protect me from getting hurt just as you wish to never get emotionally hurt." She said finally, hoping that she had chosen the right thing to say and not just completely shatter what was happening. "But you are the one who can truly answer that question." She nodded.

Axel wasn't sure what had brought him to ask that question but he was feeling rather anxious tonight. He knew something was going to happen. His private bubble had already popped ages ago and he knew that wasn't it. That wasn't nearly big enough for the energy that he could feel that was rising up within him. "Well, you're not as dense as I thought. If you had said no, I would have walked away and made sure I never saw you again. I don't think I could ever love anybody that naive."
He wasn't sure if that was a confession to her or not but he sure felt it was a step. Axel couldn't even get himself to tell Wica that he loved her. That was too big of a step for him but he might be getting closer. The stallion wasn't sure why he was acting so calm about this because he was just ready for her to realize that she loved someone else and run away from him. Secretly, he was hoping that; he knew that he could never be a suitable lover for Wica. His personality just wasn't like that, yet.

Wica just watched him as his spoke of her not being as dense as he had thought, or naive, was she really though? She had faced death twice and yet it hadn't seemed to changer her from the over confident and trusting mare she had grown up to be. Not even the haunting shadows within her mind, those that keeping her from getting a peaceful nights sleep.
She stood unmoving as it seemed he had wanted her to flee, she didn't. Wica had no one else to run to, no secret lover, she had no one else. A few scattered friends, but that was about it, no one really cared THAT much about her besides her family. Who's family didn't care about their offspring? Ones that had no hearts or something like that... But the silence was starting to wear upon her as her wings shuffled again and she stepped a couple paces from her frozen tracks so that the snow wouldn't completely keep her in her place.
"Sometimes I do wonder if I'm not just a little Naive. Everyone has their moments. not the greats." She said with a small laugh, though she stared at the ground. "If you need time to think about everything, I can leave you to your thoughts." She said softly, thinking that he needed time alone to collect himself again.

Pondering slightly, Axel wasn't sure what his next move would be. His mind and his body were exhausted but there was some part of him that didn't want her to go anywhere. He didn't want to let her out of his sight and now all of these thoughts were forming inside of his head. "I guess so." Axel paused and thought about what his next move should be.
"No, don't leave." Axel paused, his eyes going wide, he didn't expect himself to say that. Sighing audibly, the stallion chuckled for the first time since he had met Wica. "Yea, don't leave. I don't think I could let you out of my sight ever again." He wasn't sure what he meant by that but there definitely was some underlying motive.

Wica had taken a small stepped to the side, but she hadn't truly started to turn away from him. Lifting her head up, she watching him as he seemed to want her to leave, but then suddenly change his mind. Her ears twitched at the top of her head as she thought she was hearing things. The past times he had wanted her to just leave him alone, but now he was saying that he didn't want to let her out of his sight? Well that was different from a moment ago.
Stepping closer to Axel, Wica drew closer, watching his eyes wondering if he was saying was true. It had to be, she didn't know if he could 'fake' his want for her to not leave in an act to just shove her away again. Stopping just before Axel, she just watched his face though the breaks within her bangs that had shifted over her face, annoyingly so.
"I'm not going anywhere." She whispered to him, "Not without you. If I did happen to leave, it would be to see my family." She nodded, "But that would be all I would do."

No matter who he was with, Axel would never be the cuddly, affectionate type. He hoped that Wica would understand that so he tried to push that thought out of his mind. This was all so... new to him. To realize that he actually cared about someone. Maybe his existence wasn't so bleak after all. The stallion didn't move when she moved closer to him but he was as still as stone.
"Uh huh." That was all he could get out of his mouth. Axel just stood there, the realization of what he had just said was beginning to hit him. A few years ago... Axel would have detested himself for being like this. He didn't consider the way he was acting weak per say but it definitely wasn't the type of strength he wanted to portray to the public.

Well it wasn't exactly what she had expected from him, but it was progress she supposed. From being one hard headed stallion who seemed to only want to worry about himself, it was progress. Stepping closer to him still, Wica placed herself as close him as she could get without completely pressing her neck against his. Closing her eyes, she rested her head against his neck, letting her ears fall back a little as she just rested there.
Even if he stood as still as stone, there were still the small things that she could tell he was still moving, if not completely physically. She listened to his breathing and to his heart beat, for an instant she herself had forgotten to breath, but the instinct kicked back in after a while. looking up at Axel's face she watched his eyes for a moment, marveled by how green they were, purer then her own liquid gold ones that seemed a bit faded from being passed down through the generations to herself.
"Is it just me, or is it getting a bit colder out here?" she asked as the temperature seemed to drop only a little as the shadows lengthened some. "Should we move from here before our hooves freeze to the ground?" she teased nudging him gently with a shoulder, her wings shuffling. "Walk with me?" she asked softly taking a small step forward, waiting for his answer.

Axel still didn't move as she came closer. Physical displays of affection really... weren't his thing. He didn't mind so much that she was so close to him but he was actually starting to enjoy it. Now that he had let his guard down, everything seemed so much easier to accept and understand. That's what happens when people are too narrow minded.
The stallion could hear her heart beat too and for a second he thought that she had stopped breathing. He gave her a strange gaze and then chuckled to himself. Never would he have dreamed that he would be in this type of situation.
"Is it really? Sure." He answered her pretty quickly and without thinking too. It just kind of came out. Axel moved in the direction she was facing and began to walk, waiting to match his stride with her's.

Wica hadn't noted the strange gaze she had been given, though with his quick answer, a bubble of giggles came to her throat though she did her best to keep them silent, the subtle movement of her bobbing gently showed her laughter, but it wasn't toward anything really, just a thought. Letting Axel start walking, she came up to his side, her wings unfolding a little to brush against his, before folding again. to her sides. It hadn't really gotten that cold, but it was a sign that winter had yet to completely leave the plain, it still had a firm, yet weakening grip.
"It hasn't gotten that cold, It's been colder. Much colder." She admitted walking beside him, her eyes twinkling with a slight foalish glow. "Though tell me, what places have you been to? What strange things have you seen?" she asked, her ears twitching to the top of her head. "I haven't traveled that much as the cold keeps me grounded. But I hear that there's a place where the water doesn't taste too good and other strange creatures live."
Tilting her head to the side a little, she hoped to ease into another conversations instead of just throwing herself upon him as some other love strucks might have done to proclaim themselves and demand the same. she had already did the proclaiming, but Wica wasn't pushy about demanding to know what was already known. Even from his silence and small hinting she could tell he was starting to like her. It was a start, she just had to wait until he was ready she supposed. Ready for what? She could only guess.

Tilting his head curiously, Axel couldn't help but think how strangely adorable she was. If that was possible... He walked alongside her not really noticing that her wing was touching his own. Gazing around at the scenery, he had been noticing that the snow was beginning to melt. That just meant a new year... and spring was coming. He didn't mind the snow but he liked the sun and heat more.
"Yea, very true." Pausing, Axel pondered about how to answer her question. "I haven't been many places. Before I came to this region, I lived somewhere very far away but it wasn't so different. I think I've been to every part of this region and to every landscape this region has to offer. I've gotta do something in my free time... I like to fly a lot. Probably spent more time in the air then on the ground before I met you." The stallion stopped realizing that, that was probably the most he's ever said to her but he decided to continue. "That's true. I've met some soquili that could swim and reach those places in the water." Axel shrugged slightly not thinking too much about it.
