Lol. Behavioral patterns suggest "Boy."... though in manga it that could be completely wrong. Nuriko from 'Fushigi Yuugi'= very woman-like= actually a man. O.o
Undoubtedly, Shippo is a boy as it was stated that he was indeed a "Son." XP

Honestly, I don't even think that Rumiko knows and she created the show after all. I mean, he/she does guy things, but bathes with the girls (which if he is a guy, they wouldn't let him right?) It's puzzle that maybe nobody will ever solve.

Hes an adorable little boy! lol yah I was confused during the first few episodes but was total for sure when I saw the episode were he had a girlfriend. Relax and dont feel bad he's an odd lil guy at first lol
