It was a pleasant stroll, with neither walking to a particular destination. The orange male found himself quite comfortable with his present company, though that too wasn't unusual - he wasn't an exceptionally picky soquili when it came to conversation and could be quite obliging to any! Still, the sister to his foal hood friend was intelligent, bright, and exceptionally beautiful. No, he couldn't have asked for a better afternoon. . . .

Not a one.

"Just sibling rivalry, though even that's died since my wandering. I fear all of us young ones have gone our own ways and the distance has taken it's toll; but such is the life of a wanderer!" He chuckled lightly with a shrug, not at all concerned by his words. It was true though - not only was he out of the loop when it came to news on his beloved family, but their relationships drifted and transformed with time. They would always be loved and always be family, but their closeness wasn't quite so strong as it had been as a foal. Where at once they were forced to be together, now it was lucky if they were in the same climate!

C'est la vie.

Althalus canted his head lightly as his companion spoke, before grinning, silver eyes dancing. "A tomboy was she?" Clicking his tongue, the stallion gave a soft snort in amusement. "That's news to my ears - my memories of her consist of games within the snow, and needing to assure her I'd keep her safe from falling off the hill of snow we'd climbed." Ah, such good memories; perhaps he'd have to dig the purple, wingless one up and catch up with her. If her sister was such great company, than Nituna had to have grown just as pleasant!

Ah, but that would mean cutting short this visit with Nivriti and the sunset male wasn't entirely sure he wanted to do that soon. Oh no, the brown one had captured his attention thoroughly and he wasn't about to let go of their delicate acquaintanceship so soon. "I'll admit, sometimes I yearned to be the only one; yes. . " He chuckled, pawing the ground and tossing the brown furred mare a wink. "I know it's hard to believe but I'll admit to being a secret glutton for attention. Shocking, isn't it? An angel like me with such a vice!" Clucking his tongue, his smile transformed in to something more playful, and his sarcasm and teasing nature were more than apparent. He tried to be an angel, but had no wings for proof; the stallion figured he lost any chance of gaining them during his foalhood pranks and antics.

Trailing beside the mare, Althalus snickered at her compliment to his hair, and gave a dramatic flick of his head, sending the braids flying over to the opposite side of his neck. "If you were to lift me by my hair, m'lady, I fear I might wind up with none at all after such an attempt. . or at least a few gaping rips and tears. But," he added with a nod, "I'd happily go bald and maneless if it meant spending some extra time in your presence."

He couldn't help himself. He just liked the company of mares, they were goddesses to him and he cherished their companionship greatly. Especially those whom especially captured his attention, like Nivriti! Still, with his luck, the ladies walked in his life just as quickly as they walked out and thus . . . he didn't often get to spend much quality time with them. As far as he knew, this meeting with Nituna's sibling could very well be his last, so why shouldn't he want to keep it treasured?

Not at all perturbed by his words, as his sincere compliments came almost as frequently as his heart beat, the sunset male continued on with their walk. As Nivriti ruffled her wings and denounced her talant, he gave a snort and reached over to nudge her shoulder with his nose. "Come now, Nivriti, you truly needn't be so modest! Do give yourself some credit where such is due! You were wonderful! Honest!"

And then the conversation once again changed to love, and grand babies. The orange male chuckled and gave a firm nod, tail swishing lethargically behind him. "If I've learned one thing from my beloved parents, it's that good things truly do come to those that wait. I'm quite sure when you find your shining star or prince, you'll face no hesitation." And that he said in all seriousness, despite his easy going smile and laid back attitude. He did believe in love. . . in all forms! Though Yei and Grencia had rough beginnings, and had even struggled for years with raising a family - look at the results? Four grown children and still as much in love. . . .

Someday he'd find the right mare and settle, but he did hope it would be without all the fuss and ruckous that separated and kept apart his parents for so long. "Ah, but grand babies could be sweet; thankfully, unlike you, this is where having a large family comes in handy! I have three others to count on producing such grand babies before I, should such be my lot in life!" And wasn't that a relief! If Yei wanted grandchildren, she could set her gaze firmly on Ambroise whom - rumor had it - was as wild as Althalus but without necessarily all the charm and gentlemanly nature he possessed!

A rake. . . like father had been and what Althalus tried not to be! A flirt, yes, and a worshipper of all things female, definitely, but he refused to use. Althalus liked to think of himself as more obliging than that; whatever a mare wanted, unless he objected, 90% of the time she got.

Unconsciously, Nivriti was thinking something along the same lines as Althalus; she wondered if this vibrantly coloured stallion would slip into her life, burn a brand and then she would never again see him. That was a painful thought indeed; if she had anything to do with it, she would see him again.

'I think it's a good thing to, well to see the world as much as you can. I wonder at those that cling to their families as though they are an anchor in a stormy sea.'

She couldn't imagine not having left her family to discover her own personal boundaries, leaving the vicinity of her parents, and the security of the familiar had been scary at first, but she thought that was a better mare for doing so. Nivriti flicked an ear as Althalus spoke of a memory he had of her sister - she was pleased that she wasn't completely fearless as she had thought her to be. Maybe she would steer the conversation away from Nituna swiftly though. She was well aware of her sister's pretty looks, and if he was allowed to muse on her further, he might suddenly wonder why he was walking along with the 'dowdy' sister.

'Maybe I wish you to think I am modest,' she quipped. It wasn't really a wish, she knew she had some skill, but felt that if she owned to it she would come across as big-headed or something. She nodded at his words;
'I only hope that should he cross my path, I would have the awareness to convey my feelings.' she faltered, then looked sidelong at the stallion.
'I like you Althalus,' Nivriti found her words again, speaking with a warm smile, hoping that her tone would convey the sincerity behind them. She really did, and she hoped fervently that this would be the first of many conversations.
'I hope..I hope we shall become friends.'

The sunset stallion couldn't help but agree with his newfound companion. Though families were wonderful to have, and offered protection and affection, there was more to life than the familiar and the same old, same old. There were beautiful starlit nights, there was the sound of the oceans waves against the beach; there were new faces to meet, there were memories to create and friendships to cherish. No, the best thing Althalus had ever done was leave home in search of the world. . . .

But exactly what he was looking for had yet to be discovered. Was it just adventure or was there something more? Who knew! Althalus suffered from terrible wanderlust, but it seemed to run in his family. "To each their own, I suppose," he agreed with a nod. "But it seems you and I are kindred spirits - we're bolder than some, and need no anchor within such weather. While some cling, spirits like us ride out the waves and see what new horizons await." Such a pretty picture he imagined - those that stood out the storm and clung to their surroundings out of fear; and then there was Niviriti and himself, and all the others out there that weren't afraid of independence and a new life all their own.

Had Althalus been a mind reader, he would have been appalled at Nivriti's idea that she was 'dowdy'. Oh how he would have fast corrected such an idea, as he found the brown and cream winged lady most delightful! Both in conversation and appearance. Though Nituna's purple coat was indeed lovely, there was something grossly illustrious when it came to the mare before her; the cream against the darker brown, the faint black and violet that dyed her fetlocks against haver hooves. And that gorgeous flowered design that stained her hip - - oh no, there was beauty before him quite unlike many he'd seen. And her fun and intelligent personality was only more endearing and delightful to the male. . .

He was fortuitous to have crossed paths with the mare. Very fortuitous indeed!

As Nivriti spoke, Althalus' ears pricked at her kind words. Blowing a few of his bangs out of his gaze, he paused in his walk to study her for a long minute, before a great grin cracked his features. Silver eyes sparkling, delighted by the compliment, he quickly found himself once more at her side, a deep chuckle in his throat. His own noes darkened some and he couldn't help but be pleased by such an admittance - no, it wasn't really admitting anything aside from a step away from acquaintanceship and moving towards friendship, but such was great news for the stallion!

Aiolos and Caely had been his best friends, and Porsche too; but he'd met them when he was young and aside from them had yet to make any good friends on his travels. The fact that Nivriti seemed inclined towards such a friendship pleased him, and he hoped upon hope that this truly was the first of many a fond meeting. "Ah - fear not, m'dear! I suspect we shall become great friends, or so I shall fervently hope. It does my heart good to know you have not grown so soon sick of my presence, and for that I am entirely grateful!" He would indeed have to idle and stick around this part of the world, at least for a little while. That way he might indeed get to work on stabilizing his new relationship with Nivriti so he could indeed better acquaint himself with the mare.

But such was a sacrifice, which was no sacrifice at all when it came to friendship. Oh, he hoped that this time things might work out, that he needn't leave the area with dashed dreams of friendship. No. . . she hoped to become friends, and thus Althalus would do all he could. She would indeed be his first new friend in . . . .a long time.

Kindred spirits? That she liked, and a little smile touched her face.
'Yes,' she conceded. It was to each their own, and she'd never press a soul to do something that they really did not want to do, but she would just know that those who stayed at home were missing out on experiences that infirmity took away, and you never got your youth back, no matter how you tried.

And had Nivriti known his thoughts in return, she might have turned a reddish hue and never gone back! Giving Althalus compliments; that she could do, she easily bestowed them if she felt a Soquili, or any creature to be deserving of them. But taking them. Well praise would probably always embarrass her.

When he had paused after she had told him of her regard for him, she was worried immediately. Was it too soon to tell him that she liked him? It was merely like after all, she wasn't confessing to any finer feelings and her face held a look of consternation at the thought that she might have mucked this little walk up.
'I'm so..' her words framed a hasty apology but before she could finish it, Althalus cracked a grin. Imp! She was awash with relief, grinning back and oh! Did his nose just do as hers had done so many times during their conversation? He wasn't above being embarrassed himself, and a chuckle slipped out.

'Wellll..' she elongated the end of the word, a wing curled around to touch the corner of her mouth, and she posed as though deep in thought.
'I can put up with you for a while I believe,' she teased, giving him a wink, her humour slipping out now that slighty awkward moment had passed.
'So..' she looked at him, about to ask him one thing, and then another slipped out as her gaze caught his braids once more.
'Do you get a two-legger to help you with those?' she indicated the plaited hair with a slight nod. She knew her mother had to have help with her tail braid, and was curious as to what sort of interaction others had with the Villagers.

Althalus completely missed the start of her apology - he was too busy chuckling and enjoying the fact that he had possibly made a new dear friend! Oh, this was why he loved to wander; though he was far from home, had he never left he would have never met a beautiful soul such as Nivriti, much less make steps towards friendship! It felt wonderful, like a breath of fresh air, to receive such kindness from the lady. . . .

Oooh, he was far too lucky! The spirits smiled down upon him this day and was he ever thankful!

Turning his silver gaze back upon the winged mare, he tossed her another wink. "Well, then I am the luckiest stallion alive this day; I'm honored you'll put up with my presence for a while longer - feel free to inform me when such great patience has passed!" The large male couldn't help but smile, pleased that she responded to his teasing and overall personality so well. It was nice to be able to be so comfortable around another, but then, that's what made good friends - right?

As the conversation turned towards his braids, Althalus gave a little nod, attempting to glance at his unruly red hair. "I'm afraid I have no other choice; my mother and father have two-leggers that they are quite fond of, whom I have met many a time during my life. But I fear I haven't nearly as close a relationship with them as my parents - aside from getting my hair done and making way with a rare treat or two, I don't interact much with the villagers. . . ." Althalus just hadn't bonded with any in particular. He also had trouble imagining one riding him, but, at the same time, should he ever find one dire straits he wouldn't dare ignore such a need! With time, perhaps he'd interact with the villagers more, but for now in his young life he was wild and free. "They're a curious sort, I'll admit, but my travels don't often take me to their villages."

Mostly.

Casting an inquisitive glance Nivriti's way, he gave her a gentle smile. "And what of you? Do you mingle much with two-leggers?"

PostPosted: Sat Mar 01, 2008 6:53 am

Never she thought, her golden eyes meeting his silver ones, returning his smile with a broad one of her own. There was a certain feeling - one she pushed down, locked away to examine properly when she was on her own - she knew she would not lose her patience with Althalus. Instead she only replied;
'I shall be sure to tell you,' she said, her tone mock serious before chuckling.

'They just can do what we cannot,' Nivriti nodded at his words.
'Myself? Not since I was old enough to leave my mother's side, I was born in a shelter in the outskirts of the Village, there is two-legger that my mother trusts, and she built a place for mares to birth in safety.' she took on a faraway look for a moment, fond, if slightly cloudy memories of her first days outside of her basket carrying her away for a moment.
'My mother has to go see the female quite often though, she has a very long tail, longer than mine, and she has it braided and decorated with a flower.'

She paused, giving the marking on her hip a nod with a toss of her head.
'My mother is where I got that from, she has far more intricate markings than myself though. She is very beautiful.' she smiled.

Althalus' grin broadened slightly at her words, and he gave a happy little nicker. He had yet to drive away too many friends, if any at all, but he truly did hope that Nivriti would not be his first! Aiolos and he had been close thanks to their similar active natures; and Caely was too sweet and far too patient with his whims. But he'd had an opportunity to grow up with the pair, unlike Nivriti whom was still quite a stranger to him! Still, a sliver of the male was excited at this new prospect, and was already looking forward to their next meeting - and they had yet to part! Ah well . . . Best to enjoy the time they spent together now as, regardless of what both had admitted, there was a chance that this meeting could indeed be their last. But Althalus had already made plans to stick around the neighborhood; a change of pace from his usual routine of nothing but continual wandering.

The sunset male listened to Nivriti speak of her mother and her experiences with the two legged ones. The stick creatures did have their uses, though the young male still found it strange how they could balance on two legs instead of four; and how they managed so well without hooves! Ah, but different strokes for different folks - they were no different than the fish of the see or the birds of the air. Just a bit. . . .funny in shape and figure. But, at the same time, it allowed them to achieve things that Althalus never could - like braiding his hair, or combing out the knots in his mane or tail.

Chuckling lightly, the stallion gave a little snort and pawed at the ground. "Have you ever thought of attempting the braid look, m'lady? Not that your gorgeous tail or mane could stand any sort of improvement, but, just for show or an attempt for something new?" He tilted his head at Nivriti, curious as to how she might look with braids or some sort of hair style, but alas, could only see her present beauty. And that was quite well and good for him! "Ah, but forgive me for questioning, but is there a village nearby perchance? Not to speak of my own vanity, but I fear my own braids are beginning to tangle and gnarl. . .Though I personally do not stand for flowers." He snorted in good humor, silver eyes bright with delight. "One village tried to decorate me as such, and I fear the look wasn't quite what I'd been going for it; needless to say, it didn't last long." Ooooh, no - flowers in his mane didn't go well for the male. They were beautiful, yes, but he wasn't that type of stallion. Feathers, certainly, beads and even shells - but flowers? No. They made a better snack than hair accessory, at least when it came to him!

As Nivriti spoke, the red haired male gave a chuckle before glancing around, as if he harbored some great secret. "Your mother sounds indeed like a gorgeous soul, even with the flowers. But then, to be bestowed with such beauty before me, as stated earlier, it is hardly a wonder." And he meant it, every word! Part of the male felt as if he should someday meet this beauty of a mother, all things considered; he knew Nituna, and he was befriending Nivriti now. Apparently he was drawn to the family. . . . .

Not that he minded in the least!

She continued to regard him with a soft smile. If they did part and time passed, too much time before she saw him, she would seek him out. He would be easy to spot from the wing and she had an advantage in that she could cover distances far easier than he. No, this would not be their only meeting.

His words jolted her from her thoughts.
'Braids? Oh, no, haven't really thought about it.'
Which was true, her hair and mane were just that. She kind of liked the flow they had to them as they were, loose and falling in long streamers. Besides, if she did have braids than she would have to think about upkeep, as her mother did, and that seemed just too much bother.
'I'd have to keep coming back to the Village to have them re-braided, or have them taken out. I already have my wings to keep in good condition, I think hairstyle maintenance would just be one thing too many to worry about.' she grinned slightly.

Nivriti tilted her head;
'Oh? Dare I ask what it was they tried to decorate you with?' she wondered exactly what did 'ruffle his feathers', he seemed easy-going enough, but everyone had something that caused them upset.

There went her nose again; she lowered her eyes for a moment and then looked at Althalus when her blushes had gone.
'If you have plans to stay in this area for a time, you are sure to meet her, or my father.' she said in an offhand manner. Wasn't meeting the family something you did when a relationship was deeper? If it was, she certainly wouldn't push him, if he stayed around, then he would just as likely happen upon them at some point without arranging anything.

Althalus chuckled at his companion's words, giving a nod in agreement to her thoughts. "I don't blame you, not in the least! I don't even remember when I began to get my hair done, and now I can't seem to go too long without it!" He blew a few of his bangs out of his gaze, so as to better observe his newest friend. That was something that never seemed to change - he could have his bangs chopped, certainly, but they always grew back and bushier than before! Ambroise had been lucky to not bother with hair maintenance; Althalus, on the other hand, had kept up with it. But it worked for him - his red locks tangled easily in his journeys, and during the height of summer it felt nice to keep such thick locks off his neck. But, at the same time, it required maintenance and was - perhaps - his greatest vanity.

"It was flowers. . . sunflowers in particular," he added with an amused grin. "Though I do enjoy their beauty, on me I must say it . . . it just wasn't me. When I was younger the locals could get away with such things, but as a stallion with two brothers to contend with. . no. I fear I wouldn't have lived down their laughter; and though I have very little pride, m'lady, I have to draw the line somewhere!" Snickering, he gave a shrug and added, "Ribbons, bows, beads - fine. But anything with petals, though gorgeous on others like your mother or yourself, I'm sure, are much better suited to be admired by me than tangled within my hair."

His eyes glint with good humor as they continued their walk, though Althalus hardly noticed or cared where they roamed. His attention was truly enraptured by the young mare beside him and no sunshine or clouds or mountains or meadows could compare. "Mmph - I shall certainly keep my eyes out for either of them!" He nodded, rather intrigued when it came to meeting his friends' family. "I do plan on sticking around this are for a bit; it would do well to break from my journey and better acquaint myself with the locals." But there was one mare in particular, one he was gazing at that he did indeed hope to get to know well.

PostPosted: Sun Mar 02, 2008 8:32 am

'So you'd never go without the braids then?' she asked, stifling a chuckle as he blew the hair from his face again. They both had 'face-hugging' manes, and she had to fight back temptation to tug the hair away for him when it fell into his eyes.
'Flowers huh?' she tried to imagine him adorned in colourful blooms, but he was right. It didnt seem to go. She wanted to tell him that he didn't need beads or feathers, or anything else of that nature because he was good looking enough, but somehow she couldn't seem to form the words.
'I don't know..' she said, falling into thought.
'I think flowers look nicer in the ground, they last longer there as well.'

She took the time to glance around at their surroundings, a faint frown on her face. The land was taking on a rather sparse aspect and she realised that they really shouldn't go any further.
'I think we should turn back,' she suggested, swinging around to face the meandering way they had come.
'I am glad you are planning on staying around this area,' she said, slightly distracted as her ears swivelled, taking special care to listen whilst they were still here.
'But I would say that you're likely to stay around longer if we don't carry on the way we were headed.'

Althalus glanced at Nivriti before giving his thick, red mane a final little shake. "I go without braids from time to time, but it seems to be a bit of a rarity for me. Not only does it tangle easier, or I wind up eating it while I graze," his nose crinkled though his good humor radiated through him, "but let me tell you - when down my mane shed's like something you've never seen!" perhaps he was being a bit facetious, but he couldn't help but add with a wink, "It's for the sake of my vanity and pride that I tie it up; Now, I could be wrong but I don't think bald is a good look for me." Or many, for that matter, but personal opinions aside. . . .

When Nivriti paused and searched the surrounding land, the stallion became ever more alert himself. He stood a bit taller and pricked his ears, silver gaze searching the surrounding area. At the moment he didn't see much of anything, for better or for worse. Strange how the lush lakeside had taken on such a sparse look so quickly. Nostrils flaring, he sniffed the air before turning to follow suit.

Ah. . . . but Althalus was a bit rash from time to time, and harbored his father's stupidity brash nature. "Pardon my inquisitiveness, m'lady, but where exactly had we been heading?" As they walked, he did cast a curious glance over his shoulder, more than a wee bit intrigued by what great evil or unpleasantry he might have met had they continued onward. Whatever lived in the sparse land couldn't be that terrible, could it?

He knew of Kalona, and had met a few half-breeds of various natures through his parents but truly. . . what lived out there that kept the wind away? Given, he trusted her judgment through and through and never would he dare bring a loved one - or anyone for that matter - in harms way. But what had they avoided by turning 'round. . . .? Ooooh, the silver eyed male wanted to know.

((Ahh. *flails* Now he's all intrigued and wants to visit the 'you'd better not go there lands' xD ))
PostPosted: Sat Mar 08, 2008 1:24 pm

Nivriti nodded absently, the humour of him eating his own hair escaping her for the moment as she concentrated on taking them away from the barren lands where she knew that death lived.
'The wrong way,' she replied, hearing the note of inquisitiveness in Althalus's voice. She would never be able to stop him from coming here on his own after they had parted, it wasn't as if she owned him, they'd only just met after all! But she hoped she could dissuade him.

'You know of Kalona?' she asked, pausing when they were a comfortable distance away from where they had strayed. Her face held a light frown to it, as though the word itself was slightly distasteful.
'I would never judge, I try not to judge the actions of others, but I know from my mother that there is at least one Kalona, a mare, known to be crazed but is most definately vicious.' her wings fluttered, along with her discomfort at talking of it with the stallion.

'She's not been seen around these parts for a time, but my mother always told me never to wander into the places where nothing grows, because death would find me.'

Taking one last look at the forlorn land behind them, Althalus finally tucked away his inquisitiveness. . .for now . . . and focused on what the wind beauty beside him was saying. His tail flicked slowly as she spoke of a crazed and vicious kalona that lurked nearby. "I know of them and what their kind can do," he explained before heaving a little shrug. "The few half-breeds I've met haven't much touched that side of them. But it wouldn't be wise for one to go out searching for trouble, I suppose - especially trouble where one might never be found again." The male gave a small smirk, as if trying to talk himself out of his curiosity.

A crazed kalona, huh? Vicious? Deadly? Fatal.

No, Althalus didn't particularly want to die, but a small sliver of him was curious about the mare. Still, it would probably do best if he stayed away else risk being maimed or worse, never seeing Nivriti or his family again because of death. And death by kalona meant one of two things - a bad encounter at the wrong time, or idiocy. And anyone who knew Althalus might easily place such an end in the latter category.

Did he want his family and friends to remember him by being such a fool?

Probably not. It just didn't look good.

"Your mother has sound advice, I assure you. But I will admit, I much would prefer to keep your company solely as mine, as fun company as the crazed killer might be." Though the subject was serious, Althalus couldn't help but grin and lighten the mood.

No Kalona was worth ruining what had turned in to a fine afternoon.

PostPosted: Sat Mar 08, 2008 3:19 pm

'We none of us can help what we were born as, I know that there are many creatures who must hunt others to survive.' Nivriti said quietly, as she moved on again, taking a wide circle that would eventually lead to the crest of a large sloping hill, from the top it gave it a wonderful view of the Lake and the land beyond.
'I don't wish you to bore you with all the chatter that mares tend to indulge in when they get together, but I know that this particular Kalona attacked her own daughter with an intent to kill.' she felt a shiver again, then let out a long breath, as if trying to exhale all the somber thoughts away.

Solely as his? Those words were slightly more dizzying than even the thought of running into a Kalona and for a moment she was lost as to what to say in return.
'Really? Well as solicitious as her company may be, and as interesting as her conversations could have been, you are simply stuck with me until such time as you feel you have tired of my company.' Nivriti chuckled, recovering herself before her silence stretched on too far. How silly she was being, she chastised herself. At least she wasnt so lost in her own thoughts as to not notice that they had strayed! She really would have to focus, be in the moment of enjoying Althalus's company and work out her feelings when she was on her own.

'So you've made many acquintances then?' she asked, curious because he had spoken of meeting 'half-breeds', she'd not met one yet, she knew only of the Kalona's daughter through Aishwarya.

Althalus listened to her words, and gave a sad shake of his head. Why were the kalona so dark, it was something he often questioned. Preferring to hunt, to kill was one thing; there were many predators out there with such a need, such a desire. And yet the kalona were still soquili - just different. He didn't understand what happened to seperate them in to the alleged monsters he'd been told they were. There were half-breeds that were kind and good, there were half-breeds that embraced the night and darkness but . . . but why? What made this kalona lash out to kill her own offspring? What made her so broken to the world?

Oh, a sliver of the male did indeed want to investigate, if only to question himself. But, for all his large stature, for all his muscle and strength there were some battles that were best left for desperate measures. Should they have wandered and Nivriti found herself in danger, he wouldn't have thought twice to defend her, regardless. The same with his family or even a complete stranger. . . . Like his parents, Althalus had an intrinsic desire to help period, no matter what the situation.

The sunset male did let the conversation drop, but he did glance over to the young brown wind beside him. She seemed somewhat upset by the topic of conversation, and her long breathe came out more like a heavy sigh. Reaching over, he brushed his nose against her side and offered her a gentle grin. There were happier topics to discuss than kalona and death and violence.

"Somehow I recollect this conversation, though it seems our roles have been reversed," he mused, tossing Nivriti an amused wink. "Still, I must warn you of two things. First and foremost, that 'to be stuck with you' sounds more of a blessing than a curse." And currently, for the stallion, it was. He found himself enjoying the company of the brown coated mare explicitely, and found her friendship and company endearing. He would make sure they'd become best of friends, that he was sure. "Secondly, to give me such liberty in choosing when to take my leave from your company, well, such a thing might be dangerous. I fear if it were up to me, you might not be rid of my companionship for quite some time." Ah, and it was a shame he was quite sincere in his words.

Flirtatious, yes, but there was a sliver of truth in his jest. Something endeared him to the young mare, something he was unsure of quite yet. But for now, he appreciated her company, and it was true if he had his way he would not want to part from her. Not yet. Not until he found out more about her, not until he could bask in her breezy conversation and wit a little while longer.

Exactly what he'd discovered this afternoon, the stallion was unsure. For though he was generous with his compliments, compared to all the other mares he'd met. . . the sincerity of his words surprised even Althalus. No, he'd have to part from her, even for awhile so as to figure out this new friendship.

Shaking aside such curiousity, like Nivriti he'd dwell upon such ideas at a later date. He was in no rush to mull as that would mean a swift end to their afternoon, which he rightly feared might come to a close. She couldn't be amazed at wandering. . . . And eventually even his conversation would become tiresome indeed. A shame. In fact, he was amazed he'd manage to converse for so long period! Many in his travels came and left so swiftly he hadn't a proper chance to get to know them. . .

Well, thankfully this was not the case. "I've met many acquaintences in my life, indeed," he agreed with a soft chuckle, mulling over his wanderings. "There are many allies in m family, and those near and dear to my parents whom I've met. They do keep interesting company, I must admit, and should you ever find yourself in the hills and mountains north of here I should hope you might stop for a visit." It was an invitation, though the sunset stallion didn't like giving it. It meant that, as always, he would continue his wanderings and she and him would part ways . . . probably for good, as seemed to be his luck.

Still, he'd never deny her his woods. A friend of Althalus was indeed welcome to all in his family. "I've also had the experience of many a nights travel - I've yet to see it all, I'm afraid, but I've drifted in and out of others lives, just the same as they've mine. What of you, my most charming lady? With the beauty you possess, in body, mind and soul I cannot begin to imagine you are without many friends and acquaintances yourself." He had to be one of newest in a long line of lucky soquili, or so he imagined.
